Description:

Enjoy the biggest games, the prettiest nature specials, and the most exhilarating Hollywood extravaganzas on this Sony 50-inch flat-panel plasma TV. The unit features a thin (4.25 inches) glass panel design that strikingly complements a living room while taking up a minimum of space. In addition, the TV's 1,365 x 768 resolution is sharp and impressive, broadcasting high-definition ATSC/QAM content along with regular digital and standard NTSC fare. The TV's WEGA engine employs Direct Digital Circuitry, which ensures rich, natural-looking images from any source, along with Digital Reality Creation technology, which doubles the pixels on each scan line (vertical and horizontal) to create a screen with four times the density. Meanwhile, the TV's two built-in NTSC tuners and single ATSC tuner coordinate with the picture-in-picture function to let viewers watch two programs from different sources (480i, 480p, 1080i, or 720p) either side by side or in an inset window.

Movie aficionados will appreciate the CineMotion technology, which automatically converts film content via the 3:2 pulldown process for smoother-looking DVD images, along with the 16:9 enhanced aspect ratio, which maximizes the picture resolution for widescreen sources, such as select DVDs. The TV also supports high-definition D-VHS content through the i.Link input, along with prerecorded digital photos using the Advanced Memory Stick portal. Other features include color temperature adjustment, Steady Sound volume leveling, closed captioning, a multilanguage onscreen display, auto channel programming, a two-event clock timer, a favorite channel function, V-chip parental control, and a sleep timer.

The TV's audio supports include a 30-watt speaker system (15 watts x 2) and TruSurround surround sound, along with a virtual surround effect that delivers the performance of multichannel audio through a two-speaker setup. Viewers seeking the highest possible clarity from their movies can hook up their DVD players through the two component video inputs, while HD users can take advantage of the DVI-HDTV interface. The TV also includes one front and two rear S-video inputs, one front and two rear video inputs, one front and five rear audio inputs, one front and two rear i.Link inputs, one optical output, one Control-S input and one output, one fixed/variable audio output, and one subwoofer output.
