Description:

Packing everything you need for full-on home-theater excitement from one surprising compact big-screen television, the Samsung HC-P4363W offers not just a 43-inch rear-projection viewing system but an integrated 5.1-channel speaker system, too, with 180 watts audio amplification to drive it. The HC-P4363W offers a high-definition (1080i/480p) image from a casing under 2 feet deep.

The set is equipped with abundant standard- and high-definition inputs for use with the latest DTV set-top boxes, including a cutting-edge HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) with DVI (Digital Visual Interface) compatibility through an optional adapter cable. The set's widescreen dimension is specially configured to accommodate the native aspect ratios of your favorite movies.

The speaker system uses 3 drivers for center-channel information, 2 each for the 4 left/right and left/right surround-sound signals, and 2 for the subwoofer (the ".1" low-frequency effects signal)--13 drivers total. The surround signals, while not exactly positioned for "surround" (i.e. rear placement), fire from the side of the set toward your walls to impart a greater sense of spaciousness from Dolby Digital 5.1 sources (either from DVDs or from your DTV set-top receiver). Onboard amplifiers supply 20 watts per channel x 5 plus 80 watts x 1 for the system's subwoofers.

Whether your passion is for DVDs, sports, or movies, the HC-P4363W delivers high performance and convenience. Three high-resolution, 7-inch liquid-cooled CRTs power Samsung's RealFlect video system, delivering highly focused illumination across the entire screen through incorporated features like HD Fine Focus lenses and a high-performance HD Fine Pitch lenticular screen with anti-glare protection. Samsung Auto Self Focus digital auto-convergence gives you convenient picture focus at the push of a button. The fine-pitch, .52 mm screen brings out subtle image details otherwise unnoticeable on standard .72 mm pitch screens. Auto pixel shifting reduces the risk of image burn-in.

An important feature is the set's 3:2 pulldown detection, which renders DVD movies in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

Picture-format size adjustments include settings for wide (7 modes: auto wide, wide, panorama, zoom 1, zoom 2, normal, cinema 1, cinema 2) and settings for 4:3 aspect ratio viewing (5 modes: normal, zoom 1, zoom 2, cinema 1, cinema 2). Choose the perfect aspect-ratio mode for your current program, whether it's sports, TV, or movies. The system will remember your last setting for each input.

The set's 2-tuner, multiwindow picture-in-picture feature grants convenient, simultaneous viewing of 2 TV programs. PIP stock-ticker modes include large, small, stock ticker, and up to 13-picture multiwindow viewing for simultaneous monitoring of up to 13 different channels. Stock-ticker mode places the bottom fifth of one channel into another channel for viewing streaming text from, for instance, a cable news channel while you're watching the local news on the rest of the screen.

A total of 10 video inputs handles more than most of the sets out there and includes the above-mentioned HDMI terminal, 3 composite-video and 2 high-definition (standard-definition compatible) component-video inputs, 2 S-video inputs, and 2 standard RF inputs (for VCRs and cable boxes). An RF output and stereo analog audio out foster hookup with DVRs or other recording devices, and the set also offers digital-audio inputs and outputs for hookup with ancillary audio/video equipment.

Sound Mode Preset gives you the best dynamic sound settings for whatever you're watching. Choose from standard, music, movie, speech, or custom. This set is equipped with discrete IR codes for use with an optional macro/programmable remote control (a universal remote is supplied).
