Rating: Summary: BAD Purchase Review: This TV is going back to the store tonight. The picture quality has irked me over the last few days. The TV handles shadows badly - I just watched "Lost In Translation", which is dark and shadowy throughout most of the movie, and the quality was atrocious. Also, if there is a lot of motion the screen can hurt your eyes - it pixelizes and becomes quite "crunchy" looking. I have not been happy with this TV since I bought it 5 days ago.
The real kicker came tonight in the middle of the movie. The TV made a popping sound and shut off. When I turned it back on the picture had changed. The set seems to have lost its depth in the blacks. I'm not exactly sure what happened - the guy at the store suggested a power surge? Maybe so, but none of the other components pulgged into the strip were affected, and I've never had this happen with a TV in this home in the 5 years that I've lived here.
I have no information about HDTV reception as it is being hooked up tomorrow. Tonight it's back to the store for this TV and on to another brand. I don't trust it.
