Rating: Summary: its a projector Review: be careful, this is a RPTV (rear projection tv) its not an LCD monitor, it is in the wrong category as of the date of this post.
Rating: Summary: Extremely pleased Review: I bought this TV without seeing it in a store. none of the stores around me has it in stock. first off, the TV looks great and the picture is as good or better than the Sony LCD rear projection. Menu guide is simple to use. installation is easy. remember that your picture is only as good as your source. the cable where i live is generally poor, but the HBO,Showtime,Cinimax (real digital channels) look great. the HD channels are out of this world. i can not recommend this TV enough.
Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware Review: I recently purchased (not from Amazon.com) a Philips Cineos 55" HDTV. Please be aware of an issue concerning the picture images. After hooking up the set and turning it on for the first time, I discovered the picture quality was very poor. The screen reflected "rainbow-like" images. Almost dream-like. I wanted to eliminate that the cable was causing the pronounced picture distortion, so I hooked up a smaller TV and compared pictures through the use of a splitter. The picture on the small TV was fine while the Cineos was not. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. Now for the good news! I contacted "the store" in which I purchased the TV, and the salesman gave me a "Rapid Response Team" number to call. After the call, "the store" sent a TV technician to my home. He too confirmed the fact that there was a rainbow effect. "The store" promptly exchange the TV with a new one the very next day!! I'm happy to say the second Cineos delivers the same outstanding picture quality that I saw in the showroom!!! Final score: "The Store" 5 stars, Cineos 3 stars.

Rating: Summary: Avoid this thing at all costs Review: Today I am sending back the third (yes, third) TV I have had in my home. Issues:
TV the First: spots on screen during black passages, like credits at the end of a film. Dealer reports Philips says there "could be an issue" with dirt in the projection mechanism.
TV the Second: fan comes on and goes off every couple of seconds. This is maddening during soft parts of the program.
TV the Third: DOA. I finally got it to power up, and guess what? Even larger spots than TV the first. Plus, it eventually powered itself down and could not be revived.
This thing IS NOT READY for commercial distribution. Philips has a very good reputation in consumer electronics, but this thing is trash.
I will try a Panasonic at the same dealer.
