Rating: Summary: Great TV, Great Review Review: As another one of the people in another review said, I needed a Tv to play my gamecube on. This TV has a really great picture, pretty silver finish, favorite channels, S Video, you name it, it has it. One of the most convenient features, however, are the front A/V hookups. Any amateur can now set up their new console with no problems at all. And of course, its a Philips, so dependability is a necessity which it lives up to just fine.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Value, best TV for the Price Review: I bought this tv as the tv in my bedroom, which I actually watch 90% of the time. In the living room I have a 27'' Panasonic (excellent). The best things about this tv are the S-video input, which I haven't used yet, the picture is sharp, and the nice silver cabinet finish. There are a few things about the TV that are fairly annoying. If there is text at the very bottom, a la news channels, it gets cut off at the corners. Secondly, the remote keeps wanting to make the channel 3 digits. For example, if you want to go to channel 2, the fastest way is to press 002. Otherwise, meaning you just press 2 or even 02, it will take a full 2-3 seconds before it actually switches. Now that doesn't sound like a lot, but when you're channel surfing, it is. Thankfully it has a nifty feature where you program favorite channels into 4 buttons along the top of the remote. Program channel 45 to be the red button, and the second you press it it goes to channel 45. You can even program more than 1 channel per button, eg: channel 45 and channel 86 with the red button. Press it once and you get 45, press it again you get 86. It becomes really handy. Finally, the reason I purchased this TV is for one reason and one reason alone, because it is a Philips. It has been mine and many others experience that Philips is the best brand of all. I had my old 19'' Philips/Magnavox tv for 10 years and it still works perfectly, and my sister has a 13'' Magnavox that is probably 11 or 12 years old. My uncle has a Magnavox 27 that is at least 15 years old and still works better than anyone's Sony that I know. Just some personal speculation. All in all, if you are looking for a good looking, high quality 19'' TV, I would DEFINITELY suggest this one, unless you want to shell out another $150 or so for a flat screen.
Rating: Summary: great value for price Review: I found a 20" Panasonic which I purchased for ten dollars more. It was defective ( Picture tube). I returned it and bought the Phillips. It had more features, was higher in quality and value than the Panasonic

Rating: Summary: Best Buy for your Money Review: I was searching for a tv with capacities for VCR, DVD and any other extras I can find. Most would run for (lots of money) but this TV with all the extras that it has for(less money) - I couldn't go wrong. Plus it's easy to setup and the sound and picture quality it has - it's like your at the movies. Very great product for the price it is at!
Rating: Summary: Philips nonwarranty Review: Mine failed after 15 months, goes blank after being on a few seconds. Took a look at the "warranty"--they'll repair it but I have to pay for any parts or labor.

Rating: Summary: The apple of my eye Review: This is a fantastic TV. As a college student who is searching for optimal space allocation, this baby is perfect. Buying this Philips was the result of hours and hours of comparision shopping. I needed a mate for my Playstation 2, and I must say, they're a perfect match. The S-Video is absolutely breathtaking and I don't think a tube TV could get much better. Some people have complained about the corners being rounded and clipped but I find it minimal. This TV is a great buy.
Rating: Summary: best bang for the buck! Review: This is an exceptional value in terms of features at this price. DVDs look beautiful through the S-video input, virtually unheard of at this price. The built in speakers are par for this range, not great, not terrible. But the audio line out is clean and crisp, so hook up your stereo and turn off the internal speakers. Multi-component remote works fine -I'm controlling the VCR and DVD player with it easily. The only complaint is slightly bowed screen edges. Only really noticeable sometimes when a channel's call letters are placed way down at the bottom corner and get slightly clipped. Was only looking for a cheap second stereo tv with audio line out -the nice s-video was a bonus surprise!...
