Description:

Ready to step up to a large-screen direct-view TV? The Philips MX3291B gives you a square, flat 32-inch picture with several enhancements, including dual-tuner picture-in-picture, remote control locator, MagnaVue Plus color boost, and excellent resolution.

Setting up the TV was fairly simple. An on-screen navigation menu (available in English, French, and Spanish) gives you the option to manually or automatically program the available TV channels in your area. There is also an auto clock-set feature, which eliminates the need to manually set the on-screen clock.

This TV can display 640 lines of resolution, producing a crisp, clear picture. The picture is further enhanced by MagnaVue Plus technology, which adds a boost of color and pronounced contrast. Additionally, an optional digital noise reduction (DNR) control helps eliminate interference.

The MX3291B's sound quality is strong as well. Two 5-inch speakers each deliver five watts per channel, and a jack gives you the option of connecting external surround speakers. Home theater buffs will appreciate the multiple AV jacks, which include two AV inputs (including one S-video jack) and one variable audio output.

When there are two programs airing at the same time that you want to watch, this TV comes to the rescue with a dual tuner picture-in-picture function, allowing you to see both shows simultaneously. While many TV sets with picture-in-picture require a second TV tuner to receive programming, this set comes with a built-in second tuner.

The remote control locator is handy if you often lose your remote. When you press the power button on the front of the TV, the remote "beeps," letting you know where it is.

Pros:

  • Great picture quality
  • Remote control locator
  • Dual-tuner picture-in-picture
