Sony's Trinitron 27-inch TV contains several innovative features--including Freeze Memo, Speed Surf, and Sound Retrieval System (SRS) audio enhancement--not found in other models sold at comparable prices. Best of all, this TV features Sony's acclaimed Trinitron picture tube, which is based on a cylindrical model containing a screen face that is flat from top to bottom. Because of this, vertical lines remain straight, and distortion is minimized. The Trinitron tube also significantly reduces glare by reflecting light toward the floor, rather than directly into the viewer's eyes where it can make the picture appear washed out. A digital comb filter compares consecutive horizontal scanning lines within a video frame and makes adjustments that purify the image. The result is a picture that would otherwise appear blurry is made clear, with pure colors and fewer flecks of video noise. The comb filter also allows Trinitron televisions to deliver picture resolution equal to source material, such as Sony-brand DSS satellite systems and laser videodiscs. Additional features include Matrix surround sound, CRT amplifier, V-chip parental control, and Program Palette presets (Vivid, Standard, and Movie).
