Summary: Unhappy with the picture
Review: Hi,

I am usually a fan of Panasonic, but this TV has disappointed me. The panablack tube is great, but as other people have experienced it, the picture was rotated anticlockwise. Very noticable if you are watching CNN news ticker or wide screen DVDs. The red colors also seem to be bleeding a little, and I I found the black picture tube a little too dark, but may be I should change the room lighting conditions. I tried playing around with the picture settings (color temperature, tint, contrast etc.), but couldn't set it to my liking. Also, there is no menu to correct geometry problems, except perhaps in the service menu. But again, only high end TVs have geometry correction menus.

The remote seems pretty fragile, the buttons are too small. The remote that came with my workhorse panasonic vcr is much sturdier and with more substance than this. Also, there is no single button to pull up a list of your favorite channels, and chose between them.

One thing great about this though is the sound, my what a terrific sound. I think you'll be fairly happy with the speakers on a DVD even if you don't have a 5.1 speaker set. The video input skip function works great, and so is the AI sound control, which keeps the commercial volume down.

The tuner is ok. I only use on the air channels, and it just can't pull up KDKA tv, my local CBS affiliate.

I would give this TV somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. I am returning this TV, BTW and trying my luck with Toshiba 27A42. Sony's are absolutely the best, but I've had some reliability problem with a sony purchase, so I'll try something else this time. Plus sony's are expensive.

Summary: Disappointed with picture quality
Review: I'm generally very happy with Panasonic products, but I am very disappointed with this TV. The reds are too "hot" and the picture appears "grainy" on some channels (Time Warner is my cable provider). When the color is manually adjusted, it varies from one channel to the next. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I purchased a 27" NEC TV over 10 years ago with similar features (incl. S-Video input), and the picture and color on it are superb and consistent from one channel to another. One nice feature with this Panasonic is the AI sound feature which normalizes the volume between channels so one channel isn't real loud and another too soft.

Summary: Very Good Budget 27"
Review: Panablack tube is really very good. Very bright picture and the tube has very little curve or bubble out. Reds are a bit on the hot side, but this could be due to my new Time Warner Digital Cable. Color Temp. feature is very helpful. Nice layout and really a good looking TV set. Excellent value. DVD's look fantastic on this set.

Summary: Excellent tv for the money
Review: Sound control feature is great. The picture has excellent photogenic quality and vibrant color. The normal, cool, and hot color feature is fun but I'd rather tweak my color settings. Setup took about 15 min. with no problems despite some of the procedures and diagrams in the manual were confusing. We relied on past experience and 'hunches' to get through the programming. The stereo is not as rich in tone as our older Sanyo but definitely adequate, clear sound. Only disappointment is the remote - takes several key strokes to activate many of the feature. Maybe we're spoiled because of the remote we'd been using. For anyone who's beginning to add a DVD, surround sound, cable/satellite, and VCR to one TV with decent viewing quality, this is a great value.

Review: the panasonic CT-27d12d has been a great addition to my home. i have been reaserching now for a little over 6 months on TVs and found the panasonic model to be quite reasonable in price and the options it came equiped with best suited my needs. It displays a fantastic 480i picture out of the component jack that just blew me away. i have a sony progressive scan dvd player, and thought about the flat screen tvs sony offer they are great, i just felt the technology was way over priced. as for the color, i have not found any distracting reds blues or blacks. you might want to tone the colors a bit or work on your contrast, but ive managed to get a great crisp picture with no bleeding. keep in mind the dvd's you rent as well. each is recorded diffrently than others. i recomend this tv to anyone who wants the most bang for the buck. enjoy building a great home theatre starting with the panasonic CT-27d12d
