The 20RF40S uses Philips Real Flat technology, which combines futuristic picture tubes with the company's designer cabinets to give you a handsome, state-of-the-art television. The Real Flat picture tube improves the quality of the picture by increasing the viable viewing angle and reducing reflected ambient light, which creates a brighter and crisper image. The set includes a front-panel composite-video input with a monaural audio feed, as well as a rear-panel coaxial RF audio/video input. This television also uses one of the most sophisticated comb filters available. The filter improves the quality of incoming composite or RF video signals by better separating the signal into its basic qualities: chrominance and luminance. The set also has an onscreen clock, a 240-minute sleep timer, and a daily alarm/event timer, as well as AutoPicture, AutoSound Plus, AutoMute, and AutoLock.
