Description:
The broad, 32-inch CT-32D12D offers a fine-pitch picture tube and a suite of inputs to accommodate most video sources (from standard composite-video to high-resolution component-video). Front-panel connectors foster easy hookups with camcorders, digital cameras, VCRs, or gaming consoles, and you can label the various inputs for easy selection. When it comes to straight-up TV viewing, features like channel-recall/rapid tune streamline channel surfing. The set comes with great picture-enhancing technology, too. During velocity-modulated scanning, circuitry along the neck of the CRT senses transitions from black to white in the video signal. The black and white portions of the signal are sped up and slowed down, respectively, resulting in sharp black-to-white transitions. A three-line digital comb filter prevents any two lines with different colors from being processed simultaneously, minimizing any "hanging dots" in the image. Horizontal edge correction works with the dynamic sharpness control and velocity-modulated scan to produce clean, crisp television images and reduce the effects of video noise. The set even remembers your last picture settings for each input--a real help if a camcorder, for instance, requires heightened contrast: simply increase the contrast on the input you use for the camcorder and the set will recall that setting the next time that input is selected. Surround Sound simulates stereo sound--even from a monaural source--by delaying the original, two-channel sound to create a "surround" effect. Artificial Intelligence Sound Control (AISC) maintains an even sound level to prevent wide variations in volume among different TV channels and types of programming. Parental controls include channel lock and game guard, and a programmable on/off timer lets you limit viewing times (or rouse yourself from post-dinner slumber just in time for the 11 o'clock news). In addition to basic television controls, the set's remote can operate most VCRs, cable boxes, and DVD players. Illuminated buttons make it easier to use in darkened rooms.
