Description:
Sanyo's giant, DS31590 packs a lot of screen for the buck, offering 31 comb-filtered inches for your viewing pleasure. The TV's preset picture and sound modes automatically adjust the picture for the best viewing and listening (manual adjustments are always possible). Choose from sports, movies, and news. The comb filter enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped t-shirt). The set gives you stereo audio from broadcast programming via Multi-channel Television Sound (MTS), which permits broadcasters to encode stereo audio within the video portion of TV programming signals. Composite- and S-video inputs accommodate DVD players, VCRs, and other devices, while a standard RF input accepts feeds from antennas, cable boxes, and older VCRs. The set also features a trilingual onscreen display (English, Spanish, French), closed-caption display, V-Chip parental control, a sleep timer, auto-off, and a universal multi-function remote control. The remote control uses glow-in-the-dark keys to help you locate main function keys or, depending on the state of your living room, the remote itself. The LED "mode" keys light up any time a key is pressed, providing a clear indication of which equipment the remote is operating. The remote handles the TV as well as satellite systems, VCRs, and cable boxes, eliminating the confusion associated with multiple remotes. You even get guide and enter keys for satellite systems and DVD players, as well as large VCR keys with added tracking keys. The first time you switch on the TV, the auto channel programming system will scan through each channel to determine if a signal is available, creating a Channel Scan List of all active channels. The set stores the list in non-volatile memory, so you won't have to reconfigure the channels in the event of a power outage. The TV decodes standard closed-captioning signals (CaptionVision) in normal and text modes. Using the QuikCap function you can quickly switch the captions on at the press of the mute key on the remote (provided captions are available for the program you're watching). This means you don't have to miss crucial dialogue when muting the TV to answer the phone. V-Guide parental control is a function of the Violence Chip and part of the XDS technology, with which you can restrict movie viewing according to the MPAA ratings, age ratings, and/or content, including children's programs. Individual programs are blocked as rating information is received and decoded. What's in the Box TV, remote control, remote batteries, user's manual, and warranty information.
