Description:
JVC's 27-inch AV-27F803 offers a host of inputs and special features, including two-tuner picture-in-picture and a Real Flat picture tube. The Real Flat tube not only looks cool compared to a conventional, bulbous screen, but also provides a high-quality, high-contrast picture--partly owing to the screen's ability to reduce reflected ambient light but also due to the set's Invar shadow mask. A shadow mask is a thin sheet of perforated metal behind the screen that restricts electron flow, each hole in the sheet corresponding to a single pixel. This set's Invar mask uses an alloy that's particularly resistant to the high temperatures generated by the electron beam, allowing in a brighter, clearer picture. The AV-27F803's 4 MHz, 10-bit digital 3D Y/C comb filter further enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped t-shirt). Also featured is an apacon circuit, which enhances picture sharpness. The set gives you stereo audio with five watts power per channel. Hyper Surround simulates surround sound from any stereo signal, while BBE High-Definition Sound improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages. A pair of component-video inputs grant optimum connection with a compatible DVD player, satellite receiver, or game console, while standard composite- and S-video inputs accommodate all DVD players. You can choose between two sets of rear AV inputs and a set of front AV inputs for convenient camcorder and gaming hookups.
