Rating: Summary: Great TV for the money Review: I bought this TV for my bedroom about nine months ago, and I have never had the 'buzzing noise' problem that a few reviewers on this site have mentioned. If you purchase this TV and have that problem, I would definitely recommend that you exchange it for another one because THIS IS NOT NORMAL. Perhaps it was a problem with previous models that has since been fixed. I went into my local Target to shop for a TV because I knew I would get one there for a good price. Once I arrived, I took my time and picked out a few that I like based on aesthetics, and then I carefully examined the picture and sound on each one. There's just something about flat screen TVs versus traditional CRTs when it comes to visual quality. The clarity of the picture and color quality were far superior to any other TV that I saw, and for less than $200, the price was definitely right. The sound quality seemed good, too. I wrote the model number down, went home, and researched the TV online a bit more when I got home. I didn't hesitate at all when I came back the next day- I purchased mine, brought it home, and fired it up with a smile on my face. I haven't stopped smiling since- you really do get your money's worth with this TV. I've paired mine up with the new Philips DVP642 progressive scan DVD player (these are sold at Target also, but I don't see this product on the website), and the picture quality is astounding. The number of inputs on this TV allows you to hook up multiple s-video or regular A/V devices, and you can redirect your sound output to a stereo or receiver if you'd like. If you're in the market for a high quality small/medium sized TV for your bedroom or dorm room, this is the way to go. Five stars.
Rating: Summary: clear but it buzzes Review: We got this TV for Christmas, but regretting it already. Well, in all fairness, the picture quality is quite good, comparable to a Sony. However it has this annoying buzzing sound from the back of the TV tube. Well if you turn the volume loud enough it drowns it away, but I have a baby in my room and often have to turn down the volume, thus the buzzing sound is louder then the audio. Think twice before purchasing!
Rating: Summary: Worth every penny! Review: (Judged using an RCA RC5220P DVD Player connected with a 2ft. S-Video 2 Monster Cable.)I wasn't buying a TV just for the heck of it; granted, I didn't have a huge amount of money to spend, but I wanted something good. With the money I had set aside to buy a new TV, the dilemma eventually came down to 24" or 20" flat screen (for around the same price). Now that this television is in my home, I'm in heaven. The picture I'm getting is more astonishly impressive than it was in the store. "24" [starring Keifer Sutherland] has never looked better. The television is so clear in fact that even the movie "High Fidelity" blew me away, visually - and that's not the type of movie I'd normally use as a test. Video testers are usually movies like "The Matrix," "Lord of the Rings," "Unbreakable," "Toy Story," etc. . . . but for a movie with no particular visual flare to still make my mouth drop, that says something. The great thing about it is that a complaint I've had for years - when I watch a DVD, I want the black bars on the top and bottom to be as black as possible without darkening the movie itself. With this television, the blacks are black and the whites can't get any whiter. The colors pop and the sharpness almost refuses to look pixelated, thereby resembling film cells. Lots of control over video and sound, so you can tweak them to your liking. Easy and efficient remote control and menu system. Top it all off with inputs ranging from RF all the way up to the highest standard, component, along with the PHILIPS brand name and you got yourself a television well worth 200 bucks. [Think 20" is too small? Go with the larger versions of the same: 27" Philips 27PT643R and 32" Philips 32RF82S. To big? Try the 14" Philips 14RF50S.]
Rating: Summary: From a Die Hard SONY fanatic Review: I have almost everything SONY. A 36" HDTV, 2 DVD players, Computer, Laptop, MP3 player, Digital Camera, Mini-Cam, even my VCR that is 10 years old is SONY, but the Philips 20" TV is the best on the market. Save yourself the $130+ for the two high end SONY 20" TVs and go with the Philips. Much better picture and sound. The only thing you don't get is a clock and On-Timer with the Philips. You do get a Sleep Timer though. And don't even look at the SONY that is $279, I had it and returned it within 3 days. It was crap.

Rating: Summary: Great Buy Review: I have had this for a couple of months now and this is a great TV. The picture quality is great and I sound is fine. From the other reviews one said something about a buzzing noise which doesn't happen with mine. Also if you turn up the TV as loud as it goes it will blow the speakers... for the reviewer that had that problem, they might want to invest in a stereo that allows you to turn it up. The one problem I have had is that it takes quite a few seconds for the picture to actually come on. Other than that its great
Rating: Summary: OK set, annoying buzzing Review: I just purchased this Philips 20" flat screen television yesterday and I'm also returning it because of that annoying buzzing sound coming out of the back of the tv. Called Philips and their support response was to get it serviced.... The screen is nice and flat but when you actually look at the pixel pattern on the corners, you'll see it's flawed, with corners that bow inwards, and the top and bottom are not straight or true (and no tilt control to fix it either). Don't waste your time.
Rating: Summary: good tv with a few major problems Review: I just purchased this Philips 20" flat screen television. I recently purchased a Samsung 20" flat screen, but I had to return it due to an annoying buzzing sound that came from the back of the set. I read many reviews of 20" flat screen tvs, and Samsung, Toshiba, and JVC all had the same problem - a buzzing sound. I decided to try the Philips, because I read many good reviews about this set. But, I had the same problem of the annoying buzzing sound coming from the back of this television. It's quite loud and does interfere with the viewing of shows or movies, even with the volume turned up. Another problem I had with this Philips tv is that I could not adjust the tilt. The picture was really crooked, and there are no adjustments to fix tilt. I really liked the remote, and the picture quality was great. It's a really good set, but I couldn't take the annoying buzz and the crooked picture.
