This set features Toshiba's FST Black Picture tube, which increases viewing angles and reduces reflected ambient light while improving contrast and depth of field, resulting in a vivid, high-contrast picture. The unit's 3-line Digital Comb Filter also enhances resolution by removing the blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl, and is enhanced by a Vertical Contour circuit, which improves black and white signal transitions and enhances image sharpness--and Advanced Velocity Scan Modulation, which improves dark to light transitions, contrast, and again, overall picture sharpness. As if that's not enough, the 36A61's Black Level Expander increases the picture's black level to pure black, as opposed to dark gray, and improves overall picture contrast and three-dimensionality. The 36A61 is designed to provide maximum stereo sound reproduction from its internal speaker system with no additional speakers connected via Toshiba's side mounted, front firing Double Baffle speaker design. This unit also features surround sound capabilities, and "SBS", or Sub Bass System, a bass boost feature which provides a noticeable boost to the unit's low frequency sound reproduction, lending greater general audio presence.
