Description:
The CT-32SX12 offers a massive, high-quality image, great technology features, and plenty of conveniences. Relative to standard, curved TV screens, Panasonic's Tau PureFlat screen produces fewer reflections, so you can enjoy distraction-free TV viewing no matter where you sit in the room. An Invar mask heightens picture quality by applying the optimal amount of vertical tension to the shadow mask to minimize the color shift manifest in conventional flat CRTs. A suite of inputs accommodates most video sources (from standard composite-video to high-resolution component-video), and front-panel connectors foster easy hookups with camcorders, digital cameras, VCRs, or gaming consoles. You can also label the various inputs for easy selection. With selectable Digital Velocity Modulated Scan, circuitry along the neck of the CRT senses transitions from black to white in the video signal. The black and white portions of the signal are sped up and slowed down, respectively, resulting in sharp black-to-white transitions. The set's wideband video amplifier expands the video frequency response to more than 10 MHz, allowing for a horizontal resolution capability of more than 800 lines. A motion-adaptive three-line digital comb filter prevents any two lines with different colors from being processed simultaneously, minimizing any "hanging dots" in the image. Horizontal edge correction sharpens the edges of objects, while vertical edge correction works in conjunction with the digital comb filter to sharpen horizontal image edges. BBE High-Definition Sound improves speech intelligibility, and restores the dynamic range of musical passages to help provide a more natural sound. Surround Sound simulates stereo sound--even from a monaural source--by delaying the original, two-channel sound to create a "surround" effect. Artificial Intelligence Sound Control (AISC) maintains an even sound level to prevent wide variations in volume among different TV channels and types of programming. Parental controls include channel lock and game guard, and a programmable on/off timer lets you limit viewing times (or rouse yourself from post-dinner slumber just in time for the 11 o'clock news). In addition to basic television controls, the set's remote can operate most VCRs, cable boxes, and DVD players. Illuminated buttons make it easier to use in darkened rooms.
