Toshiba's 27A40 is a 27-inch TV with extensive picture and sound performance features. Designed for an enhanced home viewing experience, this TV features ColorStream component-video inputs to ensure the best picture possible from a DVD player. A three-line digital comb filter with vertical contour correction eliminates video noise such as dot crawl and color blooming by processing three consecutive lines of video information, delivering sharp, clear video images. The black-level expander provides richer blacks and greater color contrast, while the color-temperature control allows the user to set the preferred white balance, from cool blue to warm red, for viewing in any level or type of room light. The sound performance features include an MTS stereo decoder that delivers the clarity and dynamic range of stereo television broadcasts. The surround sound feature provides an expanded sound from sources not encoded with other surround information. Audio-video outputs let the onscreen picture and sound be sent out to a receiver, VCR, or other television. Additional connections include two sets of AV inputs on the rear panel of the TV for input from two composite-video signals, and an S-video input that lets you connect components that offer the higher quality S-video output. Users may appreciate such convenient features as closed captioning and a universal remote control. Captions appear automatically when the television sound is muted.
