Rating: Summary: Beware this TV is Made In Mexico! Review: I bought this hunk of junk TV five months ago as a Christmas present to my mom. Yesterday it conked out. Now I have to go thru the hassle of getting it fixed all because Panasonic wants to boost profits by having it's TV's assembled in Mexico. They only have to pay workers 50 cents an hour there....you get what you pay for. I'll never buy anything with Panasonico's name on it again.
Rating: Summary: Home Theatre Fan Review: I bought this TV about 2 months ago and must say that the quality of this TV is almost as good if not better than the 27 Wega. Picture quality is excellent in my opinion and have my Pioneer DVD player connected via component and the colors almost seem lifelike. As far as sound, I really do not use it at all since I have it all connected to my Home Theatre Receiver. Only thing that this tv did not have over the Sony Wega is PIP but I really don't care about that either. For the price I paid, it was preety much a steal ... at JandR Music World.
Rating: Summary: Great picture, for a boat anchor Review: I deeply regret buying this cheaply-built excuse for high-end video equipment. I'm not at all surprised it's assembled south of the quality-control line, this thing is the K-Car of TV's. Yes, the picture is amazing...when you're not staring at a blank screen because the thing dive-bombed on Day 95 of ownership...and OH, big surprise, the parts-and-labor warranty expires at 90 days! I'm an electronics technician, and it was actually cheaper for me to void the warranty by fixing it myself, spending a rather large amount of money on parts, rather than paying someone else a larger sum just for labor with free parts. And it is no joke that this thing weighs a ton--it both feels and performs like a pricey anchor for the USS Arizona. If you live on the second floor and have to take it in for repairs, you will curse Panasonic to your last breath. I had to buy THREE parts: a new powersource card (ouch), a new video interface (the coax cable jack snapped off like the cheap plastic it is), AND a couple of cables that got fried when the powersource blew...and I had it on a surge protector. This is worse than Army equipment, which is lowest-bidder built. If you could see the insides (your local technician WILL see its insides, trust me), you'd see how poorly constructed it is--cheap shortcuts and flimsy plastic everywhere. Save your money. You'll love this TV for however long it takes for one of its myriad technical issues to surface, and it will likely happen after the warranty expires. You could very easily spend its purchase price on repairs, and Panasonic will straight tell you, "So sorry! Hope you'll continue to buy our products anyway!" (RIGHT.)
Rating: Summary: I got NAFTA'd Review: I fell in love with this TV from the start. It was between this and the Sony Wega, but the reviews seemed to good to be true for the Panasonic, and oh yes, they are too good to be true. Getting it home and unpacked was a Herculean task. Setting up the colors so that the red didn't fry your eyes was the next obstacle. Finally, I relaxed and enjoyed this TV for the past 14 months. Tonight when I turned it on....poof! The screen painted bands of colors around the outside and the picture's center was black and white. I am disappointed to learn that this thing is made in Mexico, plus the fact that for over $400 you'd expect a TV to last for more than 14 months. That's pathetic. I had an old Signature 2000 Mongomery Ward RCA 27" TV that lasted 7 years even with the cold solder joint problems. Shame on you Panasonic. I've been NAFTA'd.
Rating: Summary: I really love this television Review: I had the opportunity to place the CT-27SX12 Tau next to a Toshiba 27AF41 and Sony WEGA KV-27FV17. They all had stunning video that could be adjusted to suit just about any preference for color intensity, brightness, contrast, or sharpness. Of all three, the Panasonic distinguished itself in video geometry and sharpness. The Toshiba looked fine displaying cable and dvd, but definitely had vertical geometry problems which could be easily observed with a test bar pattern. Also, focus problems in the lower corners became apparent whenever scrolling text was displayed at the bottom of the screen, as with a stock channel ticker or weather/news ticker. Like nearly all Sony WEGA's the KV-27FV17 looked great when displaying cable or dvd, but it did show the slight pink halo effect on bright white backgrounds. In the video area I gave the Panasonic the edge. All three sets had outstanding audio. I like lots of low end and found all three sets could pump out very clean audio. The Toshiba case, however, had a mid-bass rattle or resonance that drove me crazy at 50% volume or higher. The Panasonic and Sony could go loud enough to drive you from the room without any hint of distortion or sound artifacts. Case integrity and strength went in favor of the Panasonic in my opinion. It is solidly put together, you won't see side warping or hear rattling with this one. So... in the end, I ended up returning the Toshiba and Sony, and I kept the Panasonic. No regrets, it is a full-featured, well built, awesome 27" flat screen.
Rating: Summary: Superb Picture but has one big flaw Review: I purchsed one about a month ago at Circuit City for 449.00 The picture is amazing. Very close to Sony Wega quality. The internal speaker sound was also impressive. However out of the month that I have owned it I have only got to use it for a week. The rest it has spent in the repair shop trying to fix audio distortion through the "TO AMP" jacks. I took my original set back to Circuit City and exchanged it for another one, because when I connected my Monster Cable to the "TO AMP" jack to listen to the audio through my Reciever it transferred a lot of static and feedback noise. The repair person finally contacted me today after replacing several parts in the TV and having been on the phone with Panasonic for hours. He said a Panasonic Supervisor told him that they have had several complaints about this issue but it is normal, and basically really doesnt know what is causing it. Now I know that I can connect my DVD player directly to my receiver however I dont want a television that has a flaw like this, because I also like to listen to regular cable through my speakers as well. So i am taking it back once again, and going with the 27" KV27FS13 Sony Wega. Hope this information helps some of you making returned visits to the store.

Rating: Summary: well worth the money Review: I was TV shopping for awhile since the trusty old RCA died. I wanted a flat screen and the Sony Wega was my first choice. But the problem was that no TV I liked would fit the entertainment center I had. I was stuck with a 28" width. The Sony and JVC had a comparable picture, but were too wide. I saw the Panasonic and the dimensions were perfect. The picture quality is as good as the Sony for less money. One caveat: eat your Wheaties, you'll need them as this TV is one heavy bugger. Forget about lifting it out of the box, you'll end up in traction. I cut the sides of the box open to remove it. The controls are easy to use, with tons of features that i'm still figuring out. I hooked up the DVD player and was in awe. The picture is that good! The sound quality is above average as well, all-in-all this is a great TV for the money.
Rating: Summary: Great picture and FANTASTIC sound! Review: I won't list all the great features this tv has because other reviewers have done a far better job then I could. I had narrowed my choices down between a Sony WEGA and this Panasonic. I went to several local big name electronic stores and compared the the Sony and Panasonic picture, side by side. Both pictures look great. There were very little difference. Features were very nearly equal. But be aware that the picture quality depends on how the electronic stores have the tv's hooked up. I went from one big name electronic store to another one literally across the street and the picture quality between the Sony and Panasonic were differet between the two stores. You won't truly get a good idea of the true picture quality until you get it home. This applies to any tv. What made up my mind was that I've read several complaints about the Sony WEGA line having HALO effects and a Pink stripe in the picture. That worried me. There were many complaints about this problem. The Panasonic has BETTER sound then the Sony. The sound is FANTASIC. The Panasonic has 'BBE high-definition audio enhancement' which provides crisp and clear and loud audio. Loud in a good way. Combined with the 14 watt (total) speakers you can hear every word and breath of dialog that actors speak. Gun shots and explosions sound great! The Panasonic produces crisp and clear picture. The colors are vivid and true to life. There are no HALO or Pink stripe or any other picture distortions. Set up as easy. My only complaint was the weight of the tv. It's around 108 pounds. The box the tv was packed in was bulky. You can't get a good solid grip. There were no hand holds built into the box. I would suggest that you bring a buddy with you to help you man handle the tv. Be sure to have your buddy hang around to help you get the tv out of the box and lift it up onto the tv stand. The weight and lack of hand holds built into the box was why I almost gave the Panasonic 4 stars instead of 5. But I think tv performace is more important then packaging. Oh, the Panasonic was less money then the Sony. I got is on sale. The Panasonic has a Sound Level Monitor feature that the Sony didn't have. This feature keeps the tv commercials from blasting you out of your chair with their usually LOUDER volume level. This might not seem like a major feature but for those of us who use the tv sleep timer to help us drift off to sleep, it's a life saver. To sum things up: great picture and FANTASIC sound. I have no regrets.
Rating: Summary: Picture slants up on top and down on bottom... Review: Is anyone having trouble getting their picture adjusted? The picture slants up on the top and down on the bottom. This is especially noticiable when viewing shows in wide screen format. Also, we are unable to view any of our movies in wide screen. Which seems odd. We just bought this television yesterday and will probably be returning it to the store. I don't see these problems mentioned anywhere so we must have gotten a lemon. Otherwise, the picture is good and the sound as well. Really easy to hook up and learn to use.
