Summary: A bright, sharpe picture for a reasonable price
Review: .

I was looking for a TV with the sharpest picture I could find at a reasonable price. I was thinking about switching to a digital satellite source and also HDTV. My conclusion was that HDTV is still in a state of flux. There are many resolution modes and the features that may be very important in a few years may not be present in todays models. The standards are confusing and I'm hearing conflicting information that makes it impossible to determine what is happing and when with the next generation of digital Television. So I decided to wait another year or two for this and for prices to drop.

I presently have a cable source and have been happy with it. I know the digital satellite is sharper, but I think you need a set bigger than 32" to gain any benefit from it. Also there is the issue of running multiple sets at the same time tuned to different channels. We have a large hosuehold and I want everyone to have the option of watching what they wanted.

I looked at the 35" and larger sets and found that unless they were digital--the scan lines were readily visible and distracting. Not so on the 32" set. Going digital increase the price tremendously. The 32's look great without being digital.

So my decision evolved into buying the best picture I could find for the price, in a 32' model.

This is the set I bought. I'm presently using a cable source and find the image is very sharp and bright. I can't see how it can look much better with a satellite source or DVD--it is superb.

Who needs the hassle of a satellite when cable provides multiple set with different channels simultaneously-and minimal headaches setting up. I also use my cable for a cable modem and Voice over IP telephone calls at 1 cent a minute for long distance--so I was not about to give up my cable.

Needless to say, I'm very happy with the picture and I am seriously thinking about buying another one or two.

The remote is great and easy to use. I used it without a cable box for a few days and liked it. However, I find that I don't use it since my cable box provides me with all the controls I need. So I put the TV remote away.

Good news! The cable box can control the power--so you don't need two remotes (the TV remote for power and the cable box for channel control and volume) to operate this set--that is a big plus for me. One remote does it all.

I'm still trying to figure out how to permanently delete channels. Some I never want to see. Presently I use the parental control to disable the home shopping, music TV and other channels not suitable for children. This gives blue screen. I'd prefer to make them disappear completely.

I was thinking about hooking my surround sound stereo to this set but haven't yet. The quality of the stereo sound built in is fine for me. I'll probably do this at some point. The point is the sound quality is good barefoot.

Overall my satisfaction is very high for this set. A great set for the money. The best picture quality you will find short of a digital set and at reasonbale price. I think I will buy another one or two for Christmas gifts.

Summary: Great Value
Review: I looked at the Sony Wega and compared to the JVC as well and the Panasonic's picture just blew the others away. Sony's colors look washed out and faded. JVC's are better but they still don't compare to the Panisonic. Then if you factor in the price, it is an easy decision. This is a great television.

Summary: Very Happy Consumer
Review: I was all set to buy a WEGA in early December, but due to the x-mas rush nobody had the 32' in stock. Instead I went ahead and purchased the Panasonic and it has truly impressed me since.

DVD's and digital video games look incredible on this "almost" flat screen. Also, although the sound is not perfect it is much better than what comes standard on most sets. Sounds so good so far that I am yet to hook up surround sound.

All in all I am very happy with the Panasonic 32' SuperFlat. I don't miss the WEGA one bit and I saved a little cash also (PIP comes standard for lower price than WEGA 32' with PIP)!

Summary: Great TV for less than a Wega!
Review: I was all set to buy the Wega $1299. version but decided it was getting too close to the $2000. HDTV 32" version which was my first choice. My wife and I decided it was too much to spend for a TV that is really not what we feel we will want in 5 years: a wide screen 'movie' format HDTV which now start around $3500. for a 34" model. So we decided to save 1200.00 from the XBR Wega HDTV and buy this Panasonic (even though our DVD and VHS are both Sony). We figure it's more money to go towards the wide screen when they finally figure it all out and the TV's in five years will be that much better and cheaper. We are extremely happy with this set. I looked at all sets in this price range and down and feel it is by far the best set for the money, the best picture (a real step above regular curved tube sets, which Toshiba excelled in), and excellent sound considering the price. We did feel the Sony Wega had better sound but the Panasonic is sufficent and will be fantastic with external speakers hooked tup to it. I also think the remote is super easy to use and the on screen features couldn't be easier...a key point with my wife. I think the only drawback for this set is the styling is not up to Sony, but like I said....in five or six years when HDTV really is standardized and coming into it's own....everyone is going to want an HDTV widescreen. We're happy we didn't get sucked into the "got a have a Sony" misperception. It's even rated better in Consumer Reports than the Sony. Save your money for the future!

Summary: Great TV
Review: I'm very happy with this TV. I looked at the WEGA and bought the Panasonic because it's less expensive and I read too many scary stories on the internet about geometry problems with the WEGA. The picture is great, especially with a DVD player connected via S-Video. I'm not as happy with the sound as the other reviewers, it really makes a big difference to route your sound through your stereo. It's also important to remember that the delivery people will put your TV where you want it and remove the huge box and packing materials (although, as noted by another reviewer, that could be a problem if you decide to return the TV). Until I can afford a TV I can hang on my wall I think I'll stick with this one.

Summary: Better than a Sony Wega, excellent picture and remote control
Review: If your looking for a FST - Flat Square Tube, 800 lines of resolution, great multi-remote, cool and warm color settings in a 32", look no further.
This is hands down better than the Sony Wega, has 2 S-Video connections on back with RGB on front and back also - now even the Toshiba V61 and V71, Sony Wega do NOT have that. I considered those sets before I was won over by this set. Panasonic make great TV sets more than I can say for there 2.4GHz phones (which I own and despise!).
This set with all the features and great remote (which lights up), can control your home A/V receiver, DVD, Video, TV, Cable box and fits nicely in your hand.
