Summary: BETTER THAN SEASONS 1 & 2 COMBINED!
Review: This is the BEST 'Simpsons' DVD collection and is 10x better than the last two. We finally get to see everything come together with all the jokes, satire and humor which was probably the starting point for the rest of the seasons: The animation is less glitchy, Homer's voice begins to sound different for the better, Krusty The Clown's true past is revealed, and much, much more! My favorite part about this DVD was the extra bonus features such as the good ol' Butterfinger commercials and the all-new storyboard sets. There are 24 episodes in all this time and include:

STARK RAVING DAD (DATE AIRED: September 19, 1991)

MR. LISA GOES TO WASHINGTON (DATE AIRED: September 26, 1991)

WHEN FLANDERS FAILED (DATE AIRED: October 3, 1991)

BART THE MURDERER (DATE AIRED: October 10, 1991)

HOMER DEFINED (DATE AIRED: October 17, 1991)

LIKE FATHER, LIKE CLOWN (DATE AIRED: October 24, 1991)

TREEHOUSE OF HORROR II (DATE AIRED: October 31, 1991)

LISA'S PONY (DATE AIRED: November 7, 1991)

SATURDAYS OF THUNDER (DATE AIRED: November 14, 1991)

FLAMING MOE'S (DATE AIRED: November 21, 1991)

BURNS VERKAUFEN DER KRAFTWERK (DATE AIRED: December 5, 1991)

I MARRIED MARGE (DATE AIRED: December 26, 1991)

RADIO BART (DATE AIRED: January 9, 1992)

LISA THE GREEK (DATE AIRED: January 23, 1992)

HOMER ALONE (DATE AIRED: Febuary 6, 1992)

BART THE LOVER (DATE AIRED: Febuary 13, 1992)

HOMER AT THE BAT (DATE AIRED: Febuary 20, 1992)

SEPERATE VOCATIONS (DATE AIRED: Febuary 27, 1992)

DOG OF DEATH (DATE AIRED: March 12, 1992)

COLONEL HOMER (DATE AIRED: March 26, 1992)

BLACK WIDOWER (DATE AIRED: April 9, 1992)

THE OTTO SHOW (DATE AIRED: April 23, 1992)

BART'S FRIEND FALLS IN LOVE (DATE AIRED: May 7, 1992)

BROTHER, CAN YOU SPARE TWO DIMES? (DATE AIRED: August 27, 1992)

And that's the COMPLETE 3rd season! The only downside about this special package was the commentary which really, REALLY sucked! Therefore, do not bother with it unless you are curious enough. Everything else is PURE GOLD! There are 4 or 5 Butterfinger commercials in all and it brings back so many memories of my early childhood. This is indeed the BEST of "The Simpsons" yet!! I can't wait until season 4 is released! BUY TODAY AND ADD THIS TO YOUR SIMPSONS VHS/DVD LIBRARY!!! THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!!

This seasaon has 5.1 Dolby Sound and gorgous animation makes is just one little thing thats big about the Simpsons Complete Third Season. All of the episodes were very memoriable and hilarious but a couple stand out and are instant classics. If you have the first two seasons then you would be either crazy or insane not to get this higly accepted box set.

The Simpsons stands out more then most or foremore every telivision show ever, farther more, I am not asking you to get this incredible Simpsons box set DVD, I am telling you.

Summary: 5 stars for the content, 0 stars for the release schedule
Review: Along with most of you, I am a huge fan, and so enjoyed the content of this set a great deal. Unfortunately, I must take issue with the release schedule for these sets. One a year is simply insulting to the fans. We all understand the economics of revenue scheduling, but as a fan, it is frustrating to think that the current season will be released around 2015, give or take a year.
To recap, the content of the Simpsons releases is great, but please join with me in writing letters to 20th Century Fox to express your displeasure with their release schedule.

Summary: The Greatest Show on Earth
Review: The Simpsons went a long way on their third season, and developed greatly from where it was before. A cast of dozens was gradually turning into thousands, plots could now be about other characters than the Simpsons themselves, and the humor gradually became more mature and more sophisticated - proving, as the Simpsons have proved each and every week for the past fifteen years, that cartoons have a place on prime-time TV. The third season looks much more like the Simpsons we now know than anything before, the characters are more developed, animation is more subtle and more complex, voices are more precise, and the plots make for some of the most memorable episodes in the show's history. Some selections from the many favorites in the third season:

'Like Father Like Clown' - Krusty's heritage is revealed as he is reunited with his estranged father, Rabbi Krustofsky.

'Flaming Moe's' - another timeless classic, with an unforgettable guest appearance Aerosmith - the first of many musical guests to appear on the show.

'Burns Verkaufen Der Kraftwerk' - If only for the classic 'Land of Chocolate' scene.

'Radio Bart' - Bart gets in way over his head (again) when he makes the townspeople believe a little boy is trapped in a well. Sting makes a spectacular guest appearance.

'Homer At The Bat' - Lots of baseball guest-stars. Mr. Burns hires professional ball players to play on the power plant team, but Homer still comes out the victor. Sort of.

'Separate Vocations' - Bart and Lisa switch roles, following a disastrous career test with surprising results.

'Dog Of Death' - Come on, you know this one don't you? It's the one where Santa's Little Helper almost dies.

'Colonel Homer' - Beverly D'Angelo makes a glorious appearance as Lurleen, a country singer discovered by Homer. Another marital crisis episode, but with some classic moments.

'The Otto Show' - Bart goes to a Spinal Tap concert, and soon enough Otto the bus driver comes to live in the Simpsons' house... And so another classic character is born.

'Bart's Friend Falls In Love' - the main storyline isn't that funny, but the episode has two of the show's most classic segments - one is the brilliant 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' parody in the beginning, and the other is Homer after listening to a vocabulary expanding cassette tape.

'When Flanders Fails' - the classic episode in which Ned Flanders opens the 'Leftorium'.

'Black Widower' - probably the best episode in the season, and one of the best episode in the entire show, Sideshow Bob (Kelsey Grammer) returns to marry Selma - and of course attempt to murder her...

So, this is where the Simpsons became the best show on TV. When are they releasing the fourth and fifth and DVD? Oh, well. The first two seasons are mandatory, but the third is the best so far.

Summary: Best Season Yet
Review: The extras get a little skimpy on this one, but the episodes are top notch. 24 episodes is by far the largest season put on DVD yet, and is worth every second of watching. The feature on the fourth disc, "Jukebox" is a great collection of all the songs featured in the third season. Amazing how often a song is used to tell part of their story.

Favorite Episode: When Flanders Failed
Least Favorite : Saturdays of Thunder (Just seen it too many times)
Favorite Extra: Jukebox
Least Favorite: Parade Float

Summary: One of the best shows ever hits its stride
Review: The first two seasons of The Simpsons were great and really caused a pop culture explosion of Simpsons t-shirts, caps, records, and other various products to hit the market. The third season, however; is when this show really hit its stride and stamped itself as a funny, satirical look at life. The fact that The Simpsons are cartoon characters has allowed them to tackle many topics and get away with a lot of things that most "real" sitcoms would never even try to tackle. The third season of The Simpsons is like watching the blossoming of something amazing. With episodes like "Stark Raving Dad," "Flaming Moe's (one of my all-time favorite episodes.," "Radio Bart," "Homer at the Bat," "Like Father, Like Clown, "Colonel Homer," and "Black Widower," it's easy to see why The Simpsons has lasted so long. In the majority of these episodes, there are some real emotions and issues being dealt with, but in the sly, ironic, sarcastic, and campy styles that all the fans of th show have come to embrace wholeheartedly. The extras are nice and some of the audio commentarys are genuinely fascinating while some are nothing more than the participants laughing at the shows, many remarking how they'd forgotten how funny this certain joke was or whatever. I'm gonna be out a lot of money buying over a dozen box sets of the individual seasons, but it will be money well spent.
