Summary: Played like a medicore tv episode
Review: This film is a prime example on why some cult tv shows should never be mainstreamed for the masses. The magic and and elements that made it unique always end up getting lost in the process. This show no longer has the ability to become a viable franchise until some serious continuity flaws are addressed.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not much different from the television series.
Review: If you are a loyal fan of the T.V. series, you'll think this movie is like another X-Files episode to enjoy. But if you're not, you'll probably find a bit difficult to understand what's going on. The movie fails to give the audience crucial information about the characters. Like the relationship between Mulder and Scully, who is the Cigarette-smoking Man, what with the bees, and more. The movie also fails to show why The X-Files became a pop culture hit. As an x-phile, I can follow the movie's storyline very easy and quite enjoyed watching it. But I must admit it felt a bit weird hearing Mulder swear.

Summary: Ummm........okay
Review: I have only seen a few episodes of the tv show, and I have to say it's, well, different. Besides being the only show left on network televisoin with no sex whatsoever, some of the episodes are so complicated, they are almost movies in themselves. I did however enjoy a few episodes. When I saw the movie, I found it extremely complicted, and almost boring. Basically, it was like watching two episodes in one sitting, wich I would only reccomend for the hard core fans. The hallway scene was very lackluster, probably because the two of them have hardly even brushed hands in the tv series. At the end of the movie, I still had no idea what the hell their trying to get at with this whole alien thing, and if you ask me its getting very tired.

Summary: Excellent for XF newcomers!
Review: I was not a fan of the show until I saw the movie. Now I'm completely hooked. Sure, the plot has holes, and yes, you spend all the time during non-Mulder and Scully scenes wishing they'd hurry up and come back, but in all this was an excellent intro to the series. It was a great place to get hooked on the most vital characters: Mulder, Scully and the CSM. They are the only reason the show exists, and are the most complex characters on TV today. Please hurry up and release the eps on DVD!

Summary: Better on DVD than in the theaters
Review: The X-Files:The Movie is one of those many average, mediocre movies where the DVD experience itself transforms it into something better. The sound and digital transfer are superb, although the story still makes little sense -- but if you're like me, you've stopped trying to understand the "mythology" story line several seasons ago and don't care. Average commentary, lame "documentary" featurette (as is standard with DVD's), overall "extras" are subpar. But nobody buys DVD's for extras anyway. Three stars.

Review: Even if you've never seen an X-Files episode, you will love this movie. This movie has all the makings of a cult classic (just like the show). I did not watch the X-files show until after I saw the movie in 1998. Now I am a X-Files watcher for life. It's nice to have a movie and TV show that excites your intellect as well as your senses. Chris Carter has outdone himself - David Duchovny is masterful in his portrayal of Special Agent Fox Mulder, the "Spooky" yet brilliant agent in charge of the X-Files (the cases the Bureau deems unsolvable and strange). Gillian Anderson is wonderful in her portrayal of Special Agent Dana Scully, the perfect counterpart to Agent Mulder, he is mysterious in his personal life and has his head in the clouds at times, she is a down to earth (unless she's been abducted again) and no-nonsense agent that deep down loves the drama that ensues everytime she goes on an assignment with her partner. Yes, there is a sexual overtone to certain parts of the movie, but in the show there are sexual inuendos in every episode - Mulder and Scully are obviously in love, but I agree with Chris Carter, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in saying that the relationship MUST stay at a non-sexual level (at least until the show is over) so don't expect Mulder and Scully to hop in the sack in this movie - you will be disappointed if you do. Buy this! The script is even more interesting than the movie - it has lines and scenes that were cut from the movie and you can see where David Duchovny does his wonderful improvisation. The film cells are interesting - just remember it takes 16 frames of film to make one second of a movie - so don't expect to see a scene from the movie. Very nice, glossy 8x10 posters and the "Making of..." Video is very insightful. Buy this collection - you will not be sorry!

Summary: This is a great movie... A must-see for any X-Phile!!!
Review: This movie was very well done, kept you going, and was an important piece of the X-File puzzle. Even non-fans will enjoy this movie, and may just get ya into the show!

Summary: Crucial piece of X-files puzzle...
Review: This movie was very good, and those who critisize it because they say it does not make sense obviously do not understand the myth-arc plot. This movie holds a critical stance to the X-files arc moving forward and looking back. Waiting 5 years for this was worth it. With the "Two-Fathers/One Son" two-parter in season 6, we have a complete detail of what is now going on. I love the direction the movie sent the series in. And sure the movie was like a long episode, but why fix something that isn't broken? We should all have learned by now that a good X-files episode or movie should not be rated on how satisfied we feel from the answers we were given, rather it should be regarded as good when we are left with more questions than answers. Now that is the heart and soul of the X-files.
