Summary: Its about time!
Review: As a Moonlighting fan who has most of the episodes taped on VHS from the 80's, I am estatic that now I can have a complete set on DVD. For those of us that want to re-discover a TV gem and for those people who want to enjoy a witty TV series that broke all the boundaries for its time and led the way for many other shows, you will not be disappointed.

Summary: Encore! Encore!
Review: I've been a fan of the series "Moonlighting", starring Bruce Willis & Cybill Shepherd, since the series debuted in 1984. My 20 year-old recorded VHS tapes of the series are wearing out and it would be wonderful to have the series captured forever on DVD. Who can forget the immortal antics, arguments, spoofs, gags & one-liners of Maddie Hayes & David Addison paired together as Private Investigators of the Blue Moon detective agency?
The series was a smash-hit then and is still as fresh and every bit as funny & entertaining today.

Summary: One of the all-time best TV shows - COMING THIS MAY!!!
Review: NEWS FLASH!!! In May 2005, Lions Gate Home Entertainment will release a 6-DVD set containing Seasons 1 and 2!!! This according to a confirmed report at MoonlightingDVD.com. If you're curious about why it has taken so long for Moonlighting to come to DVD, it's because - as you may recall - Moonlighting featured a large variety of different songs (remember all the scenes where Maddie arrives at the office only to find David partying with the entire staff??). All of these great tunes came from many different sources and different record labels, some of which have gone bankrupt or been taken over by other corporations in the last 15 years. For the longest time, it was not possible to secure the rights to these songs, and they were even thinking about releasing Moonlight on DVD sans music. But the series' creator wouldn't have this. Finally, Lions Gate obtained the necessary rights to all of the songs that so greatly enriched this already wonderful show. They got Bruce Willis involved in some of the DVD extras, and we will get to see the result of all this hard work in May!

* * *

"Moonlighting" truly is one of the best television series of all time. It was extremely creative, loaded with great humor and drama, and occasionally some action and intrigue. It faltered a bit in its last two seasons, but even they are easily worth 5 stars.

The premise: Maddie Hayes, played by Cybill Sheperd, is a former model running a nearly bankrupt detective agency. David Addison, played by Bruce Willis, convinces her to hire him on as her partner. They bumble their way through many mysteries, solving most of them. Maddie and David couldn't be more different - Maddie is conservative, reserved, preoccupied with being responsible, and slightly repressed and uptight. David is spontaneous almost to a fault, and not terribly responsible. Yet, both have big hearts, and over the course of Seasons 1 and 2, they fall very much in love - even though they cannot admit it especially to themsevles.

In the typical episode, David and Maddie work on a case. However, there's much more going on. Events in the case parallel events in one or both of the main characters' lives, or their relationship with each other. As you watch this delightful show, it's obvious that the writers, directors, and cast are having a great time making this show. The writing is very clever, and as the series progresses, the characters occasionally show awareness that they are characters on a television show - to great humorous effect. In seasons two and on, there are episodes that have themes - such as a black and white film noir take-off, and a modernized and very funny remake of Taming of the Shrew. In its first season, Moonlighting is a bit more conventional - though still innovative and still one of the finest television programs ever.

Highly recommended.

Summary: Where is the DVD???
Review: What a wonderful series this was. Great writing, great acting. The show that gave the world Bruce Willis!

So where is the DVD? Junk like The A-Team and Knight Rider have DVD's, and great stuff like Moonlighting and Hill Street Blues gather dust in some vault.

Release the DVD's, and people will buy them!!
