Summary: They just don't make t.v. like this anymore
Review: When Beauty & The Beast premiered on CBS in 1987, there was nothing else like it on television. There really hasn't been another show like it since. Creator Ron Koslow took a classic fable and brilliantly updated it for the modern world of New York City. Looking back at the landscape of network television at the time, it's amazing the show survived 2 and 1/2 seasons. This is the kind of "cult" fantasy series that, if made today, might find an audience on UPN or WB. But in 1987, we still just had the Big Three networks, and an upstart little netlet called Fox.

Anyway, this was Quality Television in every aspect: the writing, the acting, the production values were all top-notch. Although Linda Hamilton was already a star at the time, Beauty & The Beast nursed such stellar talent as Armin Shimerman, James Avery, Tony Jay (as Paracelsus, my vote for the best t.v. villain ever), Jay Acovone, Edward Albert, and Jo Anderson.

Beauty & The Beast had it all: Fantasy, romance, action, poetry and heart. I'd rank the first 2 seasons as some of the finest hours of television ever made. Even the controversial 3rd season had its moments.

As fans may know, only the first season (and a few episodes of the 2nd and 3rd) were released by Republic Home Video in the early 90's. A DVD release is long overdue. My VHS tapes are wearing out!

I hope Republic will either give us a DVD release, or sell the rights to someone who will. When you consider how many far lesser (yet I begrudingly admit, more successful) shows have made it to DVD, it would be a shame to overlook this genuine classic.

Summary: Why isnt it available??
Review: Why have the studios not cottoned onto the fact that fan's of this excellent TV series is in large demand. I've been looking for the videos and all sorts, there just not available here in the UK. Bring it out on DVD on all regions so I can get a one for my so desperate mum!! It'll make her day to own just on not alone a whole series or even all the episodes!!. The studios could make alot of money from its fans, we all want to own it! All you have to do is produce it and tell all the fan clubs including the UK one that Gale Gwent runs.
what an overall FANTASTIC programme...an absolute classic.

Summary: Please release this on DVD
Review: With all the TV shows from the past years being released by season on DVD,...WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG? This was one of the
best shows ever. If it were introduced in todays world of the
internet, maybe the show wouldn't have been cancelled.

I wait in anticipation for the day when they release the all the
seasons of Beauty and the Beast on DVD. Vincent is the incrediable character ever realized with pure genius by Ron Perlman!!!!
