Rating: Summary: Please start the DVDs for this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I have read on the official web site for Hawaii Five-0 - http://www.mjq.net/fiveo/, that the problem is related to who has the rights to release the show to DVD. Apparently, the show is owned by CBS, but the distribution rights belong to Viacom/Paramount. Somewhere along the line, the release rights have gotten held up in legal litigation. As a result, the show is still living in a limbo world and no decision can be made about it's ultimate public domain release.
Well, I say the time has come. We have all waited long enough! Perhaps with the imminent release of the theatrical movie in the works, this will move the owners to start releasing the series.
Paramount, or Viacom or whomever, are you listening?! Our numbers are growing! Please start to release the season sets of this show. This is widely considered one of the most successful cop shows of all television history. After seeing releases for other classic 70's - 80's cop/detective shows such as Magnum P.I., Kojak, Baretta or Starsky and Hutch, its time to bring on the ultimate classic to DVD!
Bring it on! I can't wait! Steve McGarret lives on!
Rating: Summary: Another Vote For Remastered and Uncut Review: "Hawaii Five-O" has a dedicated and loyal following and it has always been wildly popular with the general public. So please, please, please release "Five-O" on DVD and do it RIGHT. We're sick of chopped up episodes that diminish the dramatic impact and intent of the original airing! Paramount TV has already remastered 175 episodes for syndication, so why not finish the job and RELEASE THEM ALL in the same fashion on DVD?!? My wallet is at the ready, now give us "Hawaii Five-O", complete seasons- remastered and uncut!!!
Rating: Summary: Defies common sense Review: I fail to understand why this great show has not been released on DVD. It was the longest running police drama in television history. The 12 seasons would be a cash cow for the studio. Book it, Viacom!
Rating: Summary: it boggles the mind Review: I heard on the radio this morning that "Desperate Housewives" is being released on DVD within a few weeks. Other awful fly by nights and one season flops have been released and are selling; my brother has purchased the first two seasons of "The Dukes of Hazzard" (something I find too painful to watch).
If these laughable and pathetic wastes of time have been released why not "Hawaii Five-0"? This and "Adam 12" (another show sadly absent from DVD) are the most realistic crime drama ever made, shows that a police officer can watch without picking apart (although the Five-0 crew do relinquish their weapons too easily and often). It shows the preparation that goes into court appearances and the constant question and answer sessions that detective go through in the search of suspects, leads and solutions. And the case is not solved by killing the bad guy in the end ala Hunter.
It took quite a while for Magnum pi to come out on DVD and from what I've been able to find by web surfing the second season doesn't have a release date as of yet. Alas fellow Five-0 fans, I fear that "`Dog' the Bounty Hunter" and "Growing up Gotti" and other proofs of the downfall of society will be released for public consumption before "Hawaii Five-0" (or Adam 12).
Rating: Summary: "Duke, Get Me the DVD Set...Now!" Review: I'd like to add my vote to those wanting HAWAII FIVE-O on DVD. It's one of the all-time great cop shows. Another solid series from roughly the same era that I'd like to see on DVD is THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO with Karl Malden and Michael Douglas. In both cases, the on-location filming is a major asset. I'll take these two shows over any of the current crime dramas any day.
Rating: Summary: If there are legal issues over the rights-GET THEM SETTLED! Review: Let me be yet another voice here to ask that this brilliant show be released on DVD in it all of its digitally re-mastered, uncut glory! Hawaii Five-0 is one of the best and longest running cop shows (12 seasons) in television history, with great action, fantastic plots, excellent recurring characters, and gorgeous on-location scenery. I'm just as baffled as everyone else about why Five-0 fans are waiting while more mediocre 70's cop shows like Starsky and Hutch (4 seasons) and Kojak (5 seasons) are available on DVD. CBS, or Viacom, or whoever... get your act together, get the legal differences over the rights settled, and GET THIS SHOW RELEASED ON DVD!
Rating: Summary: macgrath!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BEST SERIE EVER-where is the dvd Review: my best serie ever'jack lord have a style... hope to se the complete seie soon on DVD
Rating: Summary: Bring Back Hawaii Five-O Review: Please release every season of Hawaii Five-O on DVD. This was one of the best of the 1970s cop shows. The scenery was fantastic and the good guys always won!
People love this show and they will buy the DVDs!
Rating: Summary: Digitalize it, Dano! Review: Please, please, PLEASE digitize and release Hawaii Five-O on DVD. It was and still remains one of the best shows on TV.
