Summary: MATTHEW MATTHEW HE'S OUR MAN-IF HE CAN'T DO IT, FESTUS CAN!!
Review: How could anybody NOT want to see this show released on DVD? It's so popular that no one even needs to explain who the characters are, where it was set, or anything.
I think I'm remembering correctly when I saw somewhere that this show is available on DVD through the CBS video club or whatever. But, I don't want to join a video club. So, I guess I'll just have to wait, and hope that it becomes available for regular purchase.

Summary: The greatest Show ever made.
Review: Gunsmoke is the greatest show ever made. This wonderful show Gunsmoke is more than a Television show to me, it has become a part of my daily life like no other show ever has. I watch this show two times a day on two different channels, and I wish I could purchase it on DVD. It may be expensive to purchase the full twenty seasons, but to any true Gunsmoke fan its well worth it.

Summary: Gunsmoke, the best darn western series, ever!
Review: Gunsmoke was on CBS for 20 years. Most of it was during the time I was growing up. All of the morality issues they delt with are still relevant today. I never miss an episode on TVLand (thanks to TiVo) and I've been through all of them on The Westerns Channel. I would love to see the series released season by season. I would buy all twenty of them. I hope someone at CBC/Columbia gets the message that there are plenty of us out here who would make releasing them profitable. These shows are worth watching over and over. They are as relevant today as they were 30 to 50 years ago.

Summary: A great show
Review: Gunsmoke was probably one of the best western/drama's ever. It was a western, with good and bad guys. It touched on social issues like racism, women issues, moral issues, human interest stories. It was very well written. The characters were very strong, from the black and white days, right through the color episodes. Most episodes were very strong, with good character development, strong plot, and a good message.
I am glad lonestar started showing gunsmoke a few months ago. They are showing all the color episodes in order. I am taping most of them. But I would love for CBS to release them on DVD. A lot of shows are being released on DVD, some good some bad. There are so many gunsmoke episodes, that it would be a great task to decide which years or episodes would be released. Some people prefer the 1/2 hr BW episodes, some prefer the 1 HR BW or color episodes. I think that since the show had about 20 seasons that it would probably be better if they released a volume at a time that included some old and some newer. 20 seasons one year at a time would be impractical. It would cost a fortune and it would take years to get a good collection.
I hope that CBS has a plan to start releasing this great show on DVD, I would buy it.

Summary: Gunsmoke on DVD is long overdue.........
Review: Quite simply, I'd like to see the original Gunsmoke television series released on DVD, beginning with the 1955-56 season, and continuing at least thru the sixth (1960-61) season. This initial collection would take in all of the half-hour episodes, before the format went to one hour in the fall of 1961. These half-hour espisodes are seldon seen today, and are usually severly edited when they are seen at all on contemporary television.

The "half-hour years" truly were the foundational seasons for the series in terms of character development, etc., and they also contained some of the very best stories in the history of the series.

A complete, restored, unedited collection of these early episodes, perhaps with TV trailers, and perhaps with expert commentary, especially by James Arness, who is over eighty years of age now, would be most welcome, and would be extremely popular, I believe, with fans of classic TV westerns. If there's any justice, this series needs to find it's way to DVD. The marketplace is there, and waiting...........

Summary: Where would we be without Matt Dillon?
Review: The best thing the studio could do for themselves is to release Gunsmoke on DVD. Don't they realise Matt was our hero. How often do you come up with a tv show that is so well put together that it lasts for 20 seasons, and the re-runs are still showing 40 years later later.

My husband and I watch Gunsmoke everyday on the Western Channel and on TV-Land, but I would still like to have my own collection of Gunsmoke. We would buy it the moment it came out.

Review: Where in the world are the full season DVD sets of this great western.

I continue to look periodically but as of yet nothing. If a series like - Threes Company - can be released as full season DVD you would certainly think Gunsmoke would get it's due.

Heres hoping they come out before I die!
