Summary: Typical Comedy Central Fare
Review: Reno 911 isn't original, but it is often funny. It reminds me of Police Academy in many ways as well as Mad TV. The show is an improvised spoof of the reality show Cops, but if you really want to see a police show satire that rocks the house then buy Sledge Hammer: Season One! After more than a decade, Sledge remains the politically incorrect cop who can't be beat.

Summary: the best show on tv.
Review: reno 911! is the best show on tv. network, cable, pay cable, you name it, this show is the only comedy show that keeps me laughing throughout an entire episode. many may say it sounds too gimmicky, having the lieutenant wear short shorts, having a short-haired woman that is the butt of all the jokes, an ex-stripper, a trailerpark living redneck, and other odd characters that join into the mix. but the funny this is - it works. the show is all improv, or at most they all follow a loose script. i have to admit that i had never seen any of the first season episodes, but began watching when the second season rolled around and couldn't believe the kind of show i had been missing. i picked this dvd up the first day it went on sale and could not have been happier with my purchase. the show is an absolute riot. you will not be disappointed!

Summary: Funny as you-know-what!
Review: Thank goodness I stumbled onto Reno 911! one night on Comedy Central. In just a few scenes I was absolutely hooked. My fear was that I had just seen their best episode, but as it turns out they are ALL funny!

The premise is a reality-tv crew is following around seven members of the Reno Sheriff's Dept for a tv show called "Reno 911". Every cop is a unique character, and they are all some of the worst cops that have ever lived! Equal time is given for the actors to explore their characters. Three of the actors, Kerry Kenney (Officer Wiegel), Robert Ben Garant (Officer Junior), and Tom Lennon (Lt. Dangle) created the show and have worked together for over 15 years.

What's refreshing is that the commentaries show a genuine friendship between cast members. They poke fun, compliment, and psychoanalyze each other. The commentary is uncensored and hilarious. There is also an easter egg to be found if you highlight the odd colored thumbtack on the bulletin board on disc one. Click it and you will watch the episode with the entire cast ad libbing the entire episode from memory. It's a riot and further illustrates how much they seem to be having a great time together.

Depending on where you look, you can find this collection from $19.95 to $29.95. It would be a great deal even at $50. Too bad more series don't offer entire seasons for such a reasonable price. I sure hope this is only the first season of a long, long running series.

Summary: Reno really IS the best show EVER
Review: There hasn't been a show like Reno in a long time. There are plenty of hilarious shows that I love to watch, but there isn't one that cheers me up quite like Reno 911. Whenever I am sad or low, it doesn't matter what situation I'm in, as long as I can pop in a tape with some Reno on it, I am instantly renewed.
Each character has something special about them as individuals, and yet I feel there is such a dynamic chemistry between the cast that make them work so well- they really bring out the laughs!
Certain highlights are the wonderful alternate characters, like the crackhead prostitute Jackie (played by Kerri Kenney also one of the main characters Trudy Wiegel, my personal favorite and HERO-yes! HERO!)
But no alternate character stands out quite like the saggy breasted, buck toothed horn-dog TiTi, (played by Niecy Nash, also one of the main characters Raneesha Williams.)
I think all the men are hot, women are hilarious and this show is my all time favorite!
This deserves a 5+ rating from me!

Summary: Perfect Full-Season Set
Review: This DVD set is awesome. The digital picture quality is absolutely perfect on an HDTV home theatre system. It's like being there, the picture is so wonderful. All the technical aspects of this set are outstanding. Anyone who has seen this show knows how terrific and funny it is so I won't go on about that but the set is worth every penny. Just one comment about those reviewers who are upset about the cursing being bleeped and the nudity being blurred, that is the whole point of the show...to be a parody of "Cops"; it is meant to be seen as "censored". Easily, the best comedy show every produced!

Summary: Reno's Finest
Review: This DVD should be owned by everyone that likes to laugh that's all I have to say. Get it! or get a friend that has it. hahaha

Summary: Original and funny
Review: This is a great series that is full of all different kinds of politically incorrect humor. I like the interaction between the wide variety of characters in the program. Sometimes, though, I wonder if there are too many characters. Seems like a lot of people to keep track of. Parts of the show remind a little of Sledge Hammer, which aired on ABC from 1986-1988. I agree with those mentioning Sledge earlier, that those who like Reno 911 will probably like Sledge Hammer: Season One (available July 27th, here at Amazon) as well, which revolves around one character and the few around him.

Summary: Crooks oughta thank this department!
Review: This is indeed the funniest possible spoof of COPS. Just as many other reviewers have noted, the Reno Nevada Sheriff's department never fails to fail in this series. This two DVD set has all the episodes of its first season and the laughs never stop. The cast does a superlative job of improvising their lines during long takes and then through editing the show is cut down and produced in a regular 30 minute time slot. I give the cast a lot of credit for working so damn hard to make us laugh.

The show makes fun of every group possible. Lieutenant Dangle is the closeted gay cop who nevertheless makes a pass at a woman from the FBI during Homeland Security training. Then there is Officer Wiegel, who is about as appealing as a mortuary. Race relations come up when Officer Jones asks why the black cops are on one side of the table during the morning briefings. Asians, Jews, and other groups are made fun of, too! (Nobody gets left out! GRIN)

My favorite actor is Niecy Nash who plays Dept. Raineesha Williams. Her ability to make me laugh just by her facial expression is awesome! Officer Williams makes sure to wear lots of makeup to give herself a clown-type appearance.

The two DVD set still deletes the swear words (most of the time) although this is no show for children! The commentaries are funny but often lack much insight into how the show gets done. There are deleted scenes and alternate takes, too. Unfortunately there are no cast credits in the packaging.

I highly recommend this DVD set for fans of very good comedy, improvisational comedy, and for people who aren't going to cringe when a show pokes fun at all groups of people. And, now that season two has just ended, wouldn't this be a great time to release season two on DVD? GRIN

Summary: Severely underrated
Review: This is probably one of the most underrated shows I have ever seen. It's absolutely hilarious and ridiculously un-p.c. If you're easily offended then I would not recommend it, but otherwise it's a must-see.

Summary: Comic Gold
Review: This is the first show in a while that has kept me constantly laughing... I remember thinking it looked okay, and tuning in. The first scene I saw involved two officers, a child, a bicycle, and a bet. Fans of the show will know what I'm referring to. That scene had me laughing so hard. I was hooked.

Every single member of the rag-tag Reno Sheriff's Department is so... well, they're all extreme. Each character has something unique about them, and whatever each of them is, there are that to the 10th power. (Even the most underdeveloped character, Junior, still has his funny moments. I assume we'll get more on him next season.) Special attention should go to Kerri Kenny, who's out there Trudi Weigel, while sometimes unnoticed, is the funniest. Also her other characters, especially Jackie.

Since the show is all improv, the DVD should contain some funny outtakes and unaired scenes.

All in all, I just love Reno.
