Summary: Name Switching.....Nooooooo!!!! (not too serious though)
Review: The Dukes of Hazzard is still great after all these years. I
have only one problem (so far). On the episode "Daisy's Song"
I'm a little bugged at the fact that the name Loretta Lynn
(nothing against Loretta Lynn) replaces the name of the actual
singer used in the original episode. I don't have any idea who
this other singer's name is ( so now I'm curious to know who she
is). This obvious 'name switch' happens (twice) during the
episode. The first time by some guy talking to Bo'& Luke about
Music Piracy. The second, by Sweet Daisy herself (by the way,
Catherine Bach looks good baby) while playing a recording for
the Music Pirate she's trying to set up. Of course the Dukes of
Hazzard gets an easy 5 stars on nostalgia alone, you the public
will not go wrong purchasing this magnificent DVD. I just pray
that in future episodes of the 1st season (I'm not finished
watching the DVD yet) and in future season releases that
this 'name switching' technique will be NOOOOOOO MORE (please).
Again, you will not go wrong purchasing the Dukes of Hazzard.
Enjoy it like it's 1979.

Summary: To a Viewer from Mississippi
Review: You are right, good sir. I stand corrected. I guess I just wanted to believe otherwise, and there are plenty of websites where I got my information. However, seeing the secession decuments shows me that that is just not the case. Oh well... as you said, admit the mistake, and move on.
However, the most important part, and that part that most of us agree on, is the fact that loving the Dixie flag, and being a proud Southerner does NOT make one a racist. As someone else said, it's heritage, NOT hate. And as I said before, if others want to put all people from the South into one big group, than they are just as guilty of the stereotyping they accuse us of.

Summary: John Schneider, Catherine Bach, and Tom Wopat are BACK!!!
Review: As a life long fan of the Dukes, but especially of John "aka Bo Duke" Schneider" I can honestly say that it is about time this is on DVD! The commentary by John and Catherine Bach is such a wonderful addition to the excellent recording of the shows. I have met and talked with many of the people in the show including John and Catherine and I think you honestly feel like you are listening to a conversation between the two of them. It's like you are right there with them. For those of you like me who grew up loving the Dukes you will truly enjoy watching the first season on DVD many times over. I only hope there will be more episodes to come! Enjoy!

Review: I remember waiting until friday at 8:00 every week for the Duke boys to come on when I was a kid.These are the kind of shows that need to come back on instead of all these liberal,gay and reality shows.I have to young sons who I can't wait for them to see this and be proud of their southern heritage.

Review: Mike, you seem to be a minority of one in your characterization of the Dukes as racist, not to mention your getting your "facts" wrong. Nathan Bedford Forrest was the founder of the KKK, not Robert E. Lee. Apart from that, you have apparently just "chosen" arbitrarily to condemn this wonderful and uplifting show. It was brilliant and didn't have an political agenda...something sadly that cannot be said of you. Mike, here's to hoping that people like you stay the hell away from me!!!

Review: i love dukes of hazzard for long time and finally i want look for forward new dvd season series thanks!!!!! i love watch dukes and sheriff rosco coltrane my favorite character acting. and general lee dodge charger 69 my favorite show no 1 than other show!!!!! they were little funny when sheriff chase dukes then jump wrong place like in ponds, on trees, in muddy, crash other cars. that was funny i love it very much thanks so much i did plan order that dvd my favorite dvd than vhs best. good picture and good sound of dvd.!!!!!!! thanks so much what i look for !!!!!

Review: First off to that idiot Mike who said this show is racist piss off This was the greatest show ever made, how can you call this show racist, there were black people on the show remember Sheriff Little, a black man...enough of that yankee.. with today being my birthday this DVD will be the greatest present ever. Roscoe P. Coltrane and Boss Hogg rule along with the greatest theme song in history do not pass this set up...After watching this it will make me want to go get some bow and arrows with dynomite attached to em.

Review: This show is totally awesome!Good clean family entertainment that everyone can actually watch. And don't think that there is any racism in this show, because there isn't. People just think because the car is named after a CSA general and it has the Rebel Flag on it that it must be. It's heritage not hate people. And if you can find it in the General jumpin the creek, the Duke's famous moonshine, or Daisy's oh so wonderful shorts. You're probably the one that has the problem!

Summary: Mike is a Liberal!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Mike, obviously is a big time Liberal, who doesn't know his A$$ from his elbow. These liberals need a reality check, because they are self-destructive. This show was made after the great movie "Smokey and the Bandit" with Burt Reynolds. In one of the early episodes on this DVD, there is a reference to Smokey and the Bandit. I love Waylon Jennings, and I love the opening title, which feature Waylon with him and a guitar singing the theme song, Just The Good Ole Boys. This Show was great. I have video I bought from Columbia House, and the Dukes is certainly a classic.

However, you are mistaken. My home state's secession document reads: "Our position is thoroghly identified with the instituion of slavery... a blow at slavery is is a blow at commerce and civilization. That blow has been long aimed at the institution. There was no choice left us but submission to the mandates of abolition, or dissolution of the Union." From Texas' secession document: "Texas was received as a commonwealth holding, maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery-- the servitude of the African to the white race within her limits-- a relation that had existed from the first settlement of her wilderness by the white race, and which her people intended should exist in all future time." From Georgia: "For the last ten years we have had numerous and serious causes of complaint against our non-slave-holding confederate States with reference to the subject of African slavery. They have endeavored to weaken our security, to disturb our domestic peace and tranquility, and persistently refused to comply with their express constitutional obligations to us in reference to that property." All of the Southern states seccesion documents are similar. There is nothing wrong with being proud to be a Southerner. There is nothing wrong with the Cross of St. Andrew that became the Confederate battle flag. And there's nothing wrong with honoring common Confederate soldiers who fought to protect their homes when invaded by the enemy from the North. But, let's face it. Our states left the Union because of slavery. Our states' politicans and elite took advantage of the public that supported them and got them to fight a rich man's war. They were wrong. Let's admit it and move on. Someone else said: "The KKK was founded by Nathan Bedford Forrest. (Didn't you ever watch Forrest Gump? His name contributes to one of the first scenes in the movie.)" Nathan Bedford Forrest did not found the KKK. It was founded in December of 1865 by John Lester, James Crowe, John Kennedy, Calvin Jones, Richard Reed, and Frank McCord. Forrest was elected Grand Wizard in April of 1867. Y'all need to take a Civil War history class. Oh yeah, and The Dukes of Hazzard was the greatest. I loved that show.
