Summary: Hilarious
Review: This is the most hilarious comedy on TV - if you like Curb Your Enthusiasum then you will love this show. I was thrilled that it deservedly won two Golden Globes...maybe the creators will rethink their decision to end the show after only two seasons. Get this DVD set, you will not regret it! Be careful about buying these episodes when you are visiting England, as the DVD's don't work in most American DVD players...the version on Amazon can be played here.

Summary: Winner of two Golden Globes
Review: A surprise win at the Golden Globes for this deserving show. All the more impressive as it was only shown on BBC America in the US. Gervais/Brent is a pastiche of all that is hideous, yet so clearly human in an office boss. The two Christmas episodes we saw in the UK in 2003 show a more desperate side to his character that allows us at last to feel some pity for a man fallen on harder times.

Summary: Better than George Michael's latest release
Review: The Office is the funniest thing ever put on DVD and if you don't believe me then you don't know about life and you are dumb. I am a soldier and I know about life and I'm not lying. I know that if you were to crash land on a desert island with nothing but this DVD, you could survive for a long time. You could use the discs as weapons against squirrels and monkeys. You could use them as plates for berries, or as shoes. Although you'd need a bit of tape to make them shoes. And some leather straps and stitching material. The cardboard packaging of the DVDs, which at first glance looks like crap, actually unfolds into a tent-like enclosure that would protect you from the elements of a desert island. And from monkeys. I believe BBC America did this because they care about you. I'm not lying.

Summary: Funny, plain and simple
Review: This show is proof that humor doesn't have to be loud and bombastic and/or rely on sight gags. Upon the first few minutes of watching this show, you already have a clear sense of who these people are. The writing is top notch and nthe acting is subtley excellent. The only complaint about the DVD is that there are only six episodes. and it leaves you wanting more. Great show! If only American comedies were this good.

Review: The package is supposed to have 2 DVD's, the episodes on
one dvd and commentary on another one. It seems that a whole
bunch of them have nothing but two copies of the commentary
dvds. Unless you enjoy watching episodes with the director
talking all over it, stay away from this DVD.

Review: This is a stunning real-life documentary about the art of good management. It seems incredible that the makers were able to film the daily routine in an impressively well-run organisation so unobtrusively, and to such exemplary effect. They were also truly fortunate in discovering a magnificent role-model for younger viewers, especially those aspiring to corporate careers, in Mr Brent, who takes the meaning of "executive" to new heights. In terms of Reddin's typology, he fits the description like a glove, being both task and people oriented. An attractive, manly figure, he is forthright, downright, upright, and also a very warm human being, humorous, knowledgeable, strong, fair and kindly. Ably supported by a dynamic and loyal team, he shows us what it takes to be at the cutting edge of modern business. His first lieutenant, Mr Keenan, has greatly benefited from his military background, and is well able to shoulder additional responsibility when necessary; and Mr Brent is also blessed with an unusually witty and dashing personality spearheading company sales, Mr Finch, sometimes called Finchy. This man is a real treasure. The ladies of this thrusting enterprise are delightful: cool, well-groomed, efficient and charming. Neither they, nor their male counterparts, ever allow petty personal problems to interfere with the ultra-smooth operation of their allotted functions: the machine runs like well-oiled clockwork. Motivation is the keyword: the Open Sesame to success, and true job satisfaction. This portrayal of humane and enlightened efficiency bears a very close resemblance to the institute, or institution, where I spent the last 12 years of my gainful employment, but I only wish that I'd had the benefit of viewing it at the outset of this period of my life, in order to learn how perfection can be improved upon. I hope this programme will go out to all the English-speaking peoples, and show how Britain still leads the world in terms of culture and commitment to the noble aims of freedom, equality and independence. Onward and upward.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: We love Britcom. Father Ted, Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, Vicar of Dibley, League of Gentlemen, we own them all and love to watch them. But we found "The Office" to be a letdown, particularly after all the "funniest thing since Monty Python" reviews on the packaging. The writing is not nearly as sharp as other Britcoms, the characters not as colorful, and although the main fellow portrays the self-serving boss quite well there is just not enough in this series to warrant a second viewing. If you're looking for some brilliant comedy about office politics, a much better choice would be the Canadian series, "The Newsroom".

Review: To continue a theme The Office is sheer genius. If the first series has grabbed the US, just wait till you get a load of the second one. Comic Relief Day episode has become an immediate comedy classic in the UK. But more than this I want to mention the two-part Christmas conclusion to the story and its truly sublime and beautiful denoument. If possible it actually makes the first two series even better no matter how many times you've seen them. I will also recommend for any US fans of this kind of British humour to check out the first series of I'm Alan Partridge a similar show with an equally brilliant central performance by Steve Coogan as a washed up sportscaster and late night DJ Alan Partridge

Review: I really can add nothing to the previous reviews of the first and second series of this wonderful programme.
Except...to say that over here in Britain we were recently treated to the final ever two episodes.Both forty minutes long,these new shows are set two years after the last series,and follows the fortunes(or in Brents case,horrible misfortunes)of the cast.
the most obvious thing to say is that these shows far surpass any of the previous two series and are being hailed as TV classics over here in Blighty.
Rest assured...NO SPOILERS...but when it comes to USA youre all in for a treat..............

Review: If you're a fan of 'The Office' and can't get enough of this type of humour, I want to make a suggestion. Eddie Izzard (Check out www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00003CWOU/qid=1073348479/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-8562514-1180035?v=glance&s=dvd) is a British transvestite comedic genius. His surreal take on the world is unique and side-splittingly funny - squirrels worrying if they've left the gas on, evil giraffes (eating more leaves than they should), etc. Other topics which he touches on include mans first steps on the moon ('I'm a small man with a giant leap'), one of JFK's speeches he does in German (I am a doughnut), differences between the UK and the US, the European Union (where nobody's got a clue what anybody else is saying) and so much more. Like The Office, Eddie assumes his audience is intelligent and does not feel the need to explain every little joke to his viewers. Sorry for going on about a different DVD to the one I'm meant to be reviewing, but I thought I'd be doing you all a favour - I'll be writing a reciprocal review on Eddie Izzard to try and open their eyes to the world of 'The Office'. As for 'The Office': Its originality is only matched by its quality in delivery. Forum threads for 'favourite quotes' result in virtually the whole script being quoted. There is no weak material here. Improves on 2nd and 3rd viewings as you miss so much on the first time round. One of the few sitcoms that can go down in history as a comedy classic.
