Summary: I don't mean to sound harsh...
Review: I know that this show is considered a treasured family classic by many. My sister still is a huge fan of this show but I can't stand watching them. I thought personally they could've done a wonderful job on this show if they had wanted to, but every show is so extremely corny it's unbearable to even watch. Even if you had missed an episode and saw it repeated later, after watching the first two minutes, you would be able to predict what the whole rest of the storyline would be and the ending as well, and be right every time. The acting leaves a lot to be desired. It might've been a cute little show to you when you were younger but you have to admit that the drama was a bit over the top and they overused sterotypes often. Especially the sterotype that most men back then were rough and tough and didn't care about anything but their land, money, and especially, their pride. Honesty that is the sad truth about this show. There are a lot of better shows out there that have great acting, realistic rememerable stories, and still be a show that the whole family can watch. They're out there folks and Little House On The Prairie isn't one of them. Just because everyone knows about it doesn't mean it's a good show.

Summary: Little House was something special
Review: I am so glad to see Little House on the Prairie on DVD, this was a classic show, that touched a lot of hearts. I remember very well watching this as a kid, our whole family would gather around to watch Little House.
Its funny, as a kids we hated Mrs Olseon but now, I watch this DVD and she is hillarious. ("Oh for heavensakes Nells") Katherine Mcgregor was a gifted actress and really made the show. Little House is funny, sad, uplifting, and dramatic. I think when a show can have all these emotions its definitly a classic.
I don't know why everyone is upset about the starting not being on every episode, I like how the shows start right away. The sound and quality are great and it is wonderful to have this TV classic(something were seriously missing today in 2003) back on DVD.
I highly reccomend buying this and having some quality programming in your home.

Summary: This Is High Grade LHOTP
Review: Are you kidding me? It doesn't get better than this. So many good episodes in one collection, you can't beat it. The chemistry and acting = remarkable. This made-for-TV first-season eclipses anything before or after.

As with most seasons the human reaction is to cringe at every Carrie scene. But, that adds to the fun. See how many times you can groan when Carrie says something!!!!! "I wanna milk the cow!"

Summary: "Old Dan Tucker Was A Fine Old Man......."
Review: "Washed His Face in a Frying Pan......". Everybody has their favorite characters when it comes to these vintage TV episodes of "Little House on the Prairie". I guess it's obvious who mine is..who's yours? All your favorites from this first season(1974-1975) are here in these 23 complete(without all the commercials)epsidoes. You'll cry over sentimental favorites including "A Harvest of Friends" and "The Lord is My Shepherd". Then you'll find yourself grinning ear to ear with such joyous stories of "Christmas at Plum Creek", and "The Voice of Tinker Jones"."Survival" will have you on the edge of your seat as Charles tries to protect a Souix Indian from a vengeful man, and Johnny Johnson and Mr. Edwards(Victor French) will keep you chuckling when they lose their hearts and all their money to "Miss Mimi" in "To See The World".Each episode has it's own charm. Many are inspirational, some humorous, and all are sure to stir your emotions in some way.

These stories are rare TV programs that the whole family may enjoy. They have stood the test of time and should be shared with each new generation. The music by David Rose gives the perfect feel to each story and character. The set also includes "Country Girls", "The 100 Mile Walk","Mr. Edwards' Homecoming","The Love of Johnny Johnson","If I Should Die Before I Wake(this was a great episode of an eldery woman faking her funeral to get her children to visit her),"Town Party, Country Party","Ma's Holiday", "School Mom","The Racoon","The Award"(after starting a fire while studying for a special test, will Mary heed Ma's punishment?),"Family Quarrel","Doctor's Lady","The Plague"(look for a very touching scene between Michael Landon and real life daughter Leslie Landon in this one),"Circus Man", "Child of Pain","Money Crop", and "Founder's Day"(the Ingalls and Oleson's competetive spirit come out in this one).

Although there are occasional signs of age, and every once in a while the color seems to be off a little(green eggs and ham anyone?), for the most part these classic TV programs were given some wonderful attention to the transfers to DVD. The picture enhancement is clear and sharp, color nicely corrected and they sound great. There are six discs, in a nice fold out case, with pictures of various cast members.Four episodes to a disc each running about 45min.(about 19 hours in all)."The Lord Is My Shepherd" being the only two part episode in the set. You can "play all" or choose the episode you wish to view. In either case, the opening credit scene (the family in the wagon), is only shown at the beginning of each disc.Although each story opens with the technical credits, what you miss is the major guest stars(the rest are all shown at the end of each episode). But...you will surely recognize such legendary greats as Ernest Borgnine, Red Buttons, and Forrest Tucker, and such notables as Chuck McCann,Dirk Blocker and Bonnie Bartlett. The Special features are not so special..a quiz that doesn't work, a few pictures of cast members from various seasons and some bios of some of the stars. But the real bonus here are these wonderful stories. My only reason for going 4 stars is that the pilot epsiode("The Premiere Movie") is not included and must be bought separatly at one third the price of what this whole season cost. I would suggest to go with the "Goodtimes" edition. It is a nice transfer and costs less. Otherwise this is a five star set. Fans of "Little House" should grab this up.I am always so inspired by these stories I just want to go out and plow my yard..but...I'll probably just kick back and check out "Season Two" now....

"Git out the way for Old Dan Tucker, he's too late to get his supperrrrrr"......enjoy...Laurie

Summary: The Best TV Show Made From The Book
Review: I love Little House On The Prairie. I use to watch that TV Show in the mornings on TBS. I the 1800's they way people live & they way people dressed back then. I've also have read the books, too. The books are kind of like the TV Show. That TV Show always make me cry when they show people dying on the show. I loved seeing Laura Ingalls as a kid growing up with her family & as an adult married to Almanzo Wilder & having a child of their iwn is a daughter name Rose.

Summary: Where is the closed-captioning?
Review: Where is the closed-captioning at? I can't believe that NBC would allow this to be released on disc without captioning. As some of us fans start aging our hearing may not be so good anymore. Since I've loved and watched the show for years I really don't need to hear all of the lines anyway. The extra features were a little shoddy. The quiz section does not work at all, and the family album shows cast members who were from a long way off yet. I thought the visual quality of the episodes were a lot better than the ones shown on television today.

Summary: Worth every penny despite it's flaws
Review: I purchased season 1 and 2 of this collection so far. The presentation of the dvd's is very nice with beautiful pictures of the ingalls family. Beautiful colors on the packaging and the dvd's themselves. They put together a nice presentation for collector's. The audio and video is excellent. I do notice that sometimes the talking of the characters is sometimes lower than the music, and you have to turn up the volume to hear each character better. If you look at disc 3 of season 1, watch the episode titled " The raccoon". You will notice that when the ingalls family talks, it is out of sync with their lips. In otherwords, their lips with move for a couple seconds after they have talked. This is the only episode that I've noticed this so far. The audio flaw and lips being out of sync are the only reasons I give this a four start rating. I am not positive yet, but I think that in the episode titled "School Mom" I think they cut out a film shot of Dr. Baker, Mr. Hanson, and Mr. and Mrs. Oleason. I noticed when I saw that episode on t.v., it showed them coming down the road to the ingalls house. On the dvd, it shows them already there talking to Caroline. If anybody out there noticed the same flaws please let me know in a review. This concludes my review for now.

Review: Thanks Amazon for all the information you give us, thanks a lot. Mine is not a proper review cos i haven't watched these dvd's although i have wathched the little house series on TV and I think its wonderful I keep watching it again and again, in fact I managed to tape some of them but only few. So my question is this How can one have all the series in a one collection, is it right that season 1,2,3 and 4 will cover all the respective series? Thanks a lot for your help. On the Italian television they are making it again, its quite an all rounded tv series.
