Summary: The BEST comedy on TV.
Review: This is the funniest show on television. However because of its nature, few people know about it. It is on HBO, which allows it to be as bold as it has to be, but it also reduces the number of possible viewers. The other reason is the show is built like a house of cards, that invariably comes crashing down at the end. This is not a show that you can flip on ten minutes in. Everything builds and builds until it explodes in a burst of comic delight. The final reason why this show is not as well known is that it is very 'acidic'. Larry and the cast do not pull any punches, and the situations Larry gets in are often uncomfortable, but well worth the time. As each episode progresses the mostly improvisational dialogue becomes more refined and fluid, which means the show only gets better with time.

About the DVD: The DVD is fine, it includes the "HBO Special" that inspired the series, however the audio commentary is sparse, and each episode is 1 chapter, so there is no skipping ahead in an episode, you just have to watch the whole thing.

Summary: Curb is the greatest show ever
Review: Curb your enthusiasm is by far the greatest show ever on TV. It has bust a gut laughs the entire time. Larry David is a pure comedy genius. Who would have thought he could do any better than Seinfeld. Two big thumbs up !!!

Summary: Larry David is "ZEN"
Review: His skits are devoid of resolution and filled with dry humor. I ask myself why I am hooked and I think it's the mere fact that he can go on about his day undeterred by his critics. I love him and I truly don't think he cares.
I'll be first in line to get season number two.

Summary: American 'humor' at it's worst
Review: Self-deprecating, mind-numbingly boring drivel. This has to be the most boring show I have ever seen. Larry David should stick to his day job... anything but this.

Summary: annoying, awful, ick!
Review: this show is possibly the least funny thing i have ever seen. larry david is an annoying man! he whines and complains and clearly thinks he is hilarious, which he is not. the other actors are no better, and the premise is ridiculous! i don't know why anyone would buy this. on the other hand, the dvds would make great coasters.

Summary: An Offbeat Look at Life
Review: Well, he is on the floor with his interior decorator, slugging it out. He is eating dinner with a porn star who is explaining one of his roles in excrutiating detail. Anyone he slights will hold his fate in the balance at the end of the show.

The show has an LA flavor. It showcases the life of the wealthy in subtle ways. It satirizes that lifestyle, actually. It's a world where everyone drives a nice car, lives in a lavish house. Most everyone is successful. There are doctors and lawyers, porn stars and decorators. There ARE moments with parking lot attendants or store clerks. Very painful moments.

It's sort of a documentary style, without written dialog, superimposed on a very rough script. Larry will be in a hole. He will continue digging through the run of the credits.

It's awfully well done.

Summary: this show is an acquired taste
Review: I have to equate watching Larry David with drinking a Guiness. At first it has this nasty bitter taste. You drink a few more and all of a sudden, "you get it". I am a huge huge fan of Seinfeld. A friend of mine kept telling me about this show. I just couldn't get into it. Finally I sat my self down and forced myself to watch a few episodes on on-demand. All of a sudden, a little switch in my head clicked and I "got it". This show is like a spin-off featuring george costanze to the third power. I regret that I watched the third and fourth seasons before i watched the first. Now that I am watching the first season, I spend half the time on the floor lmao and can't wait for season 2 to come out on dvd. Like Seinfeld, this is the kind of show you can watch over and over again and not get bored. All I can say is give it a chance, bear with it for a few episodes, but it will be worth it. My favorite episode is the one with the cadaver sniffing dog in season 3 - "Larry David, you four-eyed F@#K!"

Summary: Keeps Getting Funnier
Review: I happened to catch this show on HBO one night, and I found it rather amusing. I had already heard that it involved the creator of Seinfeld, so its reputation preceded it.

I tried to watch it every so often, if I could remember it was on. And let me tell you, the humor just grows and grows on you. Pretty soon you are loving all the characters and are well aware of each of their quirks.

The similarities to Seinfeld are very noticeable, and probably even inevitable. For one thing, Larry David's and Jerry Seinfeld's speech patterns are almost identical. Makes one wonder how much of himself Seinfeld put into his character and how much of it was directly imitated. Also, during the course of each show, there is one or two very weird (yet very funny) characters that somehow tie into the rest of the show. And of course the fact that the show isn't really about anything specifically will hit home with Seinfeld fans.

Another notable characteristic on the show is the chemistry between Larry and his on-screen wife Cheryl. They play so well off one another and it really adds to the enjoyment of the show.

This DVD set is an absolute must for fans of Seinfeld. I actually find CYE to be a whole lot funnier due to some of the adult situations they can get away with on cable.

Summary: Watched the whole thing in a day!!!!!!!
Review: I absolutely adore this show. I was skeptical at first because of the similarities to Seinfeld, but the fact that they can incorporate some adult humor is a nice touch. Unlike the author of the "official" review at amazon, I couldn't stop watching the discs. Larry gets to say what everyone always wants to say to people and watching him react to ridiculous scenarios is genius. You must see this show if you haven't already.

Summary: Funnier each & every episode.
Review: Maybe you just develop a taste for Larry's humor, maybe you just get desensitized to his incredible insensitivity, maybe you keep wondering how he landed his extraordinary wife, maybe the writing keeps improving.....I don't know. The show is great and the production quality of the DVDs is excellent. Can't wait to buy season 2!
