Summary: Curb Your Enthusiasm Vol. 1!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Larry David, co creator of the more main stream comedy, Seinfeld has gotten right back into tv with this HBO tv series. Many of the reviews for this DVD set have complaints about the show, not the DVD. If anyone does not like this show, it is because it's not main stream enough for them. They just dont get it. This is not your typical tv program. It's unlike many. Curb Your Enthusiasm is one of my favorite tv shows! And David is absolutely funny!

There are two opinions of this tv series. People either love it, or they hate it. And you know this because, the reviews either have 5 stars or two stars. Clearly, the 5 star reviewers actually know what they are talking about.

The one complaint I have about the D-V-D, NOT the actual series, is that on the cover, it says there is an audio commentary feature. I opened the package, excited, but only to find there was only commentary on ONE EPOSODE!!! Come on!

Besides that, this DVD is a good collectors item. It's not really a "must have" item for Curb Your Enthusiasm. Because if you check ahead, HBO airs the series from time to time, and on HBO On Demand. And I have seen all the eposodes on this disk. I wouldnt have purchased it, but I recieved it as a Christmas gift this year. But I am really satisfied with it, so I can dive into my collection and watch my favorite TV show any time I want.

Season One has some of the most classic eposodes in the seasons run so far! If you like good non-mainstream comedy, you'll love this DVD and the series itself!

Summary: Misunderstanding. Shouting. Repeat ...
Review: I have two friends that rave about this show. I knew I liked Larry David's humor based on the 'Seinfeld' episodes he was responsible for. I was pretty excited before I popped the DVDs in, but now I'm totally at a loss as to how Larry David could proudly create this series.

It's not that the exploits of a witty, cranky, unfortunate comedian can't be funny. But a show would have to be very crafty and well-written to survive *only* on this character... Curb Your Enthusiasm spends about 95% of it's time following the Larry David character around, and is barely written at all - most of the dialogue is improvised, by great comedians who make really bad actors. Almost every other scene dissolves into an awkward shouting match.

The plot outlines guiding the way are equally disappointing - remember the adventures of 'Seinfeld''s George Costanza? Imagine three or four of his most humiliating stories crammed into a single episode. I mean, there is no breathing room. You can just expect the absolute worst things to happen to this guy every few minutes - sometimes he brings them on with his alienating behavior, and often it's the result of an unbelievable misunderstanding. 'Threes Company' times ten.

Another popular modern sitcom that has used a similar faux-documentary-style would be The Office. The characters on that show are almost as unfortunate as Larry, but there are at least a few of them to share the misery. And it's actually got a script ... for it's cast of talented actors. It's better in almost every way and I highly reccomend it over 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'.
