Review: i must agree with nate on this one. staind started off so raw and real. ill admit i loved and still love dysfunction. there was more creativity flowing because they werent worried about throwing another chorus in at the end of the song. its not their fault, it really is difficult to write good music and stay popular. radiohead is one of the few off the top of my head that will continue to try new things. aaron has a good voice, but it is wasted on 2 octave scales and 4 chord melodies with the standard 2 chord bridge. i love em, but the get old very quickly. oh and another thing, it bugs me when people dont tune their instruments

Summary: WOW!
Review: I think all bands should be put through the challenge of playing acoustic, just to see if they can pull it off. Sadly, very few can do this. Staind, on the other hand, not only pull it off, they bring a new side to their already incredible music. No distortion, no Andy Wallace tweeks, no 32 tracks... This is the real deal! Oh, by the way, their label didn't release a CD version of this. Too bad, I would've bought it! Good thing we can make out own, ehh?? ;^]

Summary: Breaking The Cycle
Review: I was one of the unlucky fans not able to see the aired version of Staind Unplugged. So sadly I missed out. until I came across this DVD. Staind was already great band. but by going acoustic and pulling it off (Which few bands have done),Staind proved to be a even greater band. This emotional 72 minute set is really great. Hearing the impact on a stripped down version of "Home" and the 2 unaired "Pressure and Suffer". Or the emotion of a new acoustic "Outside". This DVD is one of the best unplugged sessions ever. If you think they broke the cycle before. then wait til you get a glimpse at it being broken through a acoustic view point. And yes for the staind fans this will defintely hold you over til the next album.

Summary: wow.... just amazing
Review: Look, you can compare them to AIC all day long... just like comparing Vedder to Morrison, but it gets really old, so just accept it for what it is, great music with alot of impact for so much emotion that the acoustic set is just incredible. I remember seeing them at the KROQ show back in 12/01 when they played both nights, they played one night electric and one acoustic. How many bands can pull that off? Not very many. Anyways, this is great stuff. And yes, I'm a diehard AIC fan, but Staind is allowing the legend of AIC to live on, so ya gotta thank them for that.

Summary: I liked this band better when they were Alice in Chains
Review: MTV Unplugged is back, and yes, you guessed it, it's worse now than ever. I'm not downing MTV Unplugged though, I can remember some rocking shows from when I was younger; seeing Nirvana and Alice in Chains tear it up live acoustically. Today however, MTV is less than a shadow of what it used to be back in the early nineties, and thanks to everyone's favorite AIC impersonators Staind, it's all of the sudden cool to play an acoustic guitar again. When you watch this live performance, you can feel the eerie feeling you've seen this before, and this is proven as we hear Aaron Lewis try to croon like Layne Staley. These songs on here are supposedly about loss, remorse, and regret, but none of it seems to ring true, and the live performance itself doesn't seem all that inspired. Pick up the Alice in Chains Unplugged DVD instead of this.

Summary: You can't be serious.....
Review: The unplugged stage has been home to such music greats as Alice in chains and Nirvana, so when i saw the "Unplugged" title on this dvd promoting one of the worst bands today (not to say that any of the bands today are perticularly great, for there not) I was worried. It seems that Mtv has not shut down the program Unplugged, but kept it open for almost any talentless band that markets its self to "angry teens" can just walk on and play. Now if you've heard one staind song you've heard them all. Drop D tuning, meaningless "anguist" lyrics kids today can "relate" to and ibanez guitars are the recipe for sucess if you want to make money today, but what happens when terrible bands do the unnamable. An unplugged session. God help us, oh and there will proberbly be more unplugged sessions from the likes of "godsmack" and "disturbed". Folks its not music just because they are on a record label and a large following of kids. On a final note I must say that making this dvd is bad enough, but mtv hasent even relesed a dvd for Nirvana's Unplugged session, one of the best on there show. Countless other great bands of the 90's have been on there but never even got an cd, these guys get a dvd not even a year or so after they play on mtv. Thats just wrong, put the dvd down and pick up something else.

Summary: Tortured Acoustics
Review: This DVD brings a whole new essence to the catharsis that is Staind's music. Aaron and the boys in Staind show that they can pull off some of there of their heaviest tunes in great acoustic fashion. I was a bit weary of buying this as some the Unplugged sessions i have seen sucked. However, this set truly stands out in a crowd. The raw emotion that comes through the songs is enhanced when done acoustically, and presents even more of a cathartic feeling. Aaron pours his heart and soul into every note and word of his performance. As stated by other reviewers, and on the DVD itself, this set is the full 51-minute set with two songs that were not included when the show aired on MTV ("Pressure" and "Suffer"). This album is worthy to any Staind fans' library and serves as an excellent addition to great Unplugged session such as the ones done by Nirvana and Alice In Chains. Truly worth every dollar you have to spend.

Review: this is a great dvd im a huge staind fan and the only reason it got 4 stars instead of 5 is because maybe im too picky but the dvd is so clear that you can hear the fingers sliding on the bass and guitars which gets a little annoying after a while but im a musician and i do realize that that happens but they could have tuned it out on the production of the dvd other than that great must buy

Summary: Absolutely Amazing
Review: This is absolutely the best Unplugged performance I have ever seen. I am a relatively new Staind fan (having only ever bought their most recent CD), but I was so struck by their lyrics and music that when I saw the Unplugged DVD on the shelf, I decided to take the leap. Boy am I glad I did !! The visuals are striking, the sound is incredible, and the performance itself, especially by the lead singer, is something that I can easily watch over and over (I think I watched it 5 times the first week I had it !). Staind was already on its way to rivalling Pearl Jam as my favorite band, and this DVD has brought them even closer. The extras that are included, such as the videos and optional on-screen lyrics, are a nice touch, but the live, acoustic performance of the band was well worth the price alone. This one goes on my top shelf !!
