Summary: Stake Me Through The Heart
Review: Buffy the Vampire Slayer is perhaps even more famous even after it's final season. Even more people want to watch the show and know what it's all about. There is a good reason for this to.
On the surface Buffy seems like a little show about high school kids just trying to get by. However, it is a lot more then that. It's more then just having vampire here, and there in a corner.
Buffy has some of the best writing that has been on television in years. Some of the bast cast and plot lines. Buffy doesn't shy away from hard to talk about subjects. They handle them very well acutely.
It isn't just a horror show. It has a whole lot of story lines happening at once. But it doesn't get too crazy.
I recommend this set for any one who wants to start to get into Buffy.
Enjoyable series that knew it's mark when to leave.

Summary: The definitive genre show
Review: How can one describe the genius that is the first four seasons of Joss Whedon's remarkable "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"? It sounds like such a ridiculous premise, and even the name evokes sneers to the uninitiated. But the old saying goes, "don't judge a book by its cover", and that has never been more true than here.

On the surface, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" seems like a silly little show, "Scooby Doo" in an hour-long format. And indeed, rather than run away from such assumptions, Buffy embraces them as part of itself, even calling its protagonists "the Scooby gang". But that's all it is--one small part of the whole, a light covering for a dark, deep (and yes, funny) television show.

For as light as Buffy appears, as witty and fresh as is the dialogue, as silly as the premise seems, this is a drama. It uses its monsters and magic as metaphors for the things we really face in life, while at the same time showing us the literally powerful stories of the well-conjured and round characters that populate this world.

These first four seasons of the show were, overall, its pinnacle, and that makes this an excellent buy for... well, just about anyone.

Buffy starts out at its lightest in Season 1, seeming at times no more than a teenage drama with monsters. But even here, episodes like "Angel" and "Prophecy Girl" betray the deeper nature of the series, and the sharp dialogue and tight writing serve to entertain in a less fulfilling but more straight-out fun manner than the later seasons.

But Season 2 & 3 take the show to the height of its run. The former is served by an edge of your seat, character-driven story arc; it may well have you in tears more than once. While still populated with a good few light episodes, the "monster-of-the-week" variety, the show becomes very dark indeed. The writing improves, the characters grow deeper, and the stories more mature. Episodes like "Innocence", "Passion", and "Becoming" illustrate the heart-wrenching power of the season's Romeo & Juliet-esque story.

Season 3 moves the show into a slightly lighter area, but the writing finally hits its peak, and each episode is a joy to watch. This is Buffy at its finest, witty and graceful, a Season-spanning storyline driving funny, thrilling, and touching episodes. "Earshot" demonstrates Buffy's skillful self-enclosed episodes, while "Amends" shows just as much power as the darker episodes of the previous season. If you're experiencing Buffy for the first time, this season is the one to sample, before going back to the beginning and watching the whole story unfold.

While Season 4 sees a drop in the quality of writing and characterization from its predecessors, Buffy still remains the peak of television entertainment. It begins with some excellent stand-alone episodes, but the season's overall storylines feel more distant and contrived than the last two. Nonetheless, the crackling dialogue and tight episodes remain, and Buffy is still a mark above typical television quality.

If you're considering purchasing this and experiencing "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" for the first time, but have been put off by its premise or even its name--don't be. This is one of the finest DVD purchases you will ever make.

If you're a fan who doesn't have these DVDs, what are you waiting for? The special features are generally excellent, and Joss Whedon's commentaries entertain almost as much as the episodes themselves. And the price is certainly right.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" remains one of the most intelligent shows ever to grace the television, with power, wit, and grace. The purchase of this collection is not one to regret.

Summary: Season Two Disc Six
Review: I bought this set as it was the first time I could afford it. My only problem was that the last disc in season two is messed up and it does not look like it will be fixed anytime soon. I would wait until they fix the problem even though it is only the featurettes that are messed up- but that is what Buffy fans want isn't it.

Summary: Great Bundle!
Review: In spite of some of the comments made here, this it not a "new DVD package" of the first four seasons of Buffy. It is simply a bundling of the first four DVD packages together at a great price. So the criticisms leveled against it make no sense.

If you've been holding off on buying the Buffy DVDs because of the cost, this is a great chance to jump in and start your collection!

Summary: This is a poor quality product .
Review: What Amazon is offering is poor quality, broken, scratched, unplayable dvds. This has been true of both sets they have sent me. I love Buffy, but I have returned my Seasons 1-4 once before and now Amazon has just written me that they are having such problems with quality that they cannot replace my unplayable Buffy dvds again. Buy them second hand or one at a time, not this crummy set.

Summary: mmm... angel
Review: What can I say ... apart from this is one great show.

I was never into Buffy when it started way back in 1998, but whilst holidaying in Las Vegas I watached my first ever episode. I was hooked.

When I returned back to England, I went to order the complete series. To my shock series 1 and 2 alone on amazon.co.uk were £115 (approx $200). Then I browsed over to amazon.com and to my joy I was able to have series 1 to 4 for $120 - so I also brought series 5 for $39. With shipping I managed to get series 1 to 5 for the bargin price of $170 - (approx £100). You do the maths !!!

Thank you amazon.com !!.
