Summary: S&S Second season(and this time with Aunt Esther!!!!)
Review: After the hilarious first season, the second season of Sanford and Son raised the bar considerably, and set the tone for the rest of the show.
This season marks the apperence of the classic supporting cast,including Bubba(Don Bexley),Rollo Lawson(Nathanial Taylor),Julio Fuentes(Gregory Sierra)Officer Hopkins a/k/a "Hoppy(Howard Platt),and of course Fred Sanford's greatest nemesis,Aunt Esther(LaWanda Page).Unfortunately it would mark the end of Melvin(Slappy White),Officer Swanhauser a/k/a "Swanny"(Noam Pitlik),and Aunt Ethel(Beah Richards).
Classic Episodes includes By The Numbers,The Card Sharps,The Dowery/Sanford & Son & Daughter(both written by Richard Pryor and Paul Mooney),Blood is Thicker Than Junk, and of course Rated X.
My only gripe is that these are supposed to be unedited episodes, yet on Blood....,there's a section missing including portions of Lamont's interview in the employment office,as well as Fred's first meeting with Norman(Roger Mosley of Magnum P.I.)which were shown in the edited syndication version(!!!???)
In all,S&S's second season is classic comedy in any form.

Summary: One Episode is NOT the Unedited Version!
Review: As noted by an earlier reviewer, the episode "Blood is thicker than Junk" incredibly edits out scenes from the syndicated version. I taped the episode from TV Land 2 weeks ago and compared it to the DVD yesterday. There are 2 and 1/2 minutes which appear on the syndicated version--the end of Lamont's job interview and the beginning of Fred hiring Lamont's replacement--which are edited from the DVD!! What a screwup. (As expected, the DVD also has scenes not in the syndicated version.)

Review: Finally! The Second Season of Sanford & Son is here! It wasn't that long ago when Season One came out, but the wait felt like forever...this show is just too funny! Now we get more Sanford & Son than before, but at the same price! (Season 2 has 24 episodes spread over three discs and Season 1 had 14 on two discs) Season 2 ran from September 1972 to March 1973 and introduces new classic characters like Bubba (Don Bexley), Julio (Gregory Sierra), Rollo (Nathaniel Taylor), and of course Aunt Esther (LaWanda Page). Don't worry, Officer Smitty and Melvin are still here. Redd Foxx only becomes more hilarious as Fred and his chemistry with Demond Wilson (Lamont) makes you think they really are father & son. What's more, the digital transfer is great considering this is 1970s TV at the push of a button. No more commercials and in chronological order! Can't wait for Season 3, when we're introduced to Grady (Whitman Mayo) and treated to much more Aunt Esther! Looking forward to the release of the remaining four seasons (including Season 3) which will complete the total Sanford & Son series (6 Seasons total). It will be great to have the complete collection. Don't be a "big dummy"...buy this today! Season 2 consists of the following episodes:

Disc One:
01. The Light Housekeeper
02. Blood is thicker than Junk
03. By the Numbers
04. Card Sharps
05. Whiplash
06. Have gun, will Sell
07. The Dowry
08. Jealousy
09. Tooth or Consequences
Disc 2:
10. The Shootout
11. The Puerto Ricans are coming
12. A Visit from Lena Horne
13. Sanford & Son & Sister makes 3
14. Fred & Carol & Fred & Donna
15. A Guest in the yard
16. The Big Party
17. Lamont Goes African
18. Watts side Story
Disc 3:
19. Pops n' Pals
20. The Infernal Triangle
21. Home Sweet Home for the Aged
22. Pot Luck
23. The Kid
24. Rated X

Also highly recommended on DVD:
Sanford & Son (Season 1)
All in the Family (Seasons 1 & 2)

Summary: Still funny! Liked the 1973 shows the most
Review: I bought this DVD last year. Sanford and Son was one of the funniest comedies in the early '70s. I still think that the 1973 shows were the funniest. The 1974 shows were the second best. I liked the father-son relationship that was shown in Redd Foxx and Demond Wilson in their characters. And Lawanda Page was so funny in her Bible-toting role as Aunt Esther. Whitman Mayo was so funny with his confused role as Grady. The Spanish actor was also good as Julio. I thought that Redd called him Coolio on one show, almost like the '90s rapper. I still think that their second season was the best.

Summary: Funny evertime
Review: I love Sanford and Son. I grew up on it,and for it to be on dvd is a danger to my funny-bone. I have all 3 season's but I really like this season because it concentrates on the realtionship between Fred and Lamont. Not too may guest and not too many scenes that go beyond the junk yard. I watched alot of TV sitcoms growing up, and Sanford and Son was always the funniest. Now, I watch it every day. I have a nice cataloge of DVD's to choose from and cable Tv, but I can't help but put in Fred. If and when the season episodes of the Martin Lawrence show come out.........It's all over for me. I will cut the cable TV and go into hiding. Enjoy!!

Summary: Starts To Heat Up
Review: I prefer the second season of "Sanford and Son" to the first season. You can tell that they show really started to pick up it's stride and characters were on point with the laughs. Some of these episodes are sure to bring back memories including "The Puerto Ricans Are Coming" (when Julio is introduced), "The Kid" (when Fred and Lamont keep up with a local boy whose mother is working), and "A Visit From Lena Horne."

The show was really hitting it's stride in this season and I enjoy this season.
