Summary: disc two is defective
Review: Everyone is complaining about how expenisive this set is, well that did not bother me untill I got this shiny package in the mail today. I popped in disc one and enjoyed the first four eposide's everyone who say's they are subpar really need's to get a life. The eposide's are just as funny s the previous season's. Back to the problem at hand I pop in disc two and I get a screen that says this disc is not comptibale and the player says no play. I proceed to check it in my dvd rom drive of my expenisve computer thinking maybe it will play that's what happened a few weeks afo with Freaky Friday and zippo same thing. HBO I have changed my mind it is bad enough having to pay the same price for half the materail it is plain robbery having to pay 32.49 for 4 epoisdes. I hope the replacemnent amazon sends me will solve the problem or else HBO better prepare to lose a valuble dvd and cable customer. Update the replacement disc was fine, but bonus features are very medicore a triva game that like another reveiwer said is fun for about five minutes, a few eposide commentries like the one on disc one and 21 minute fashion featurete. this set is only for people who have to have every eposide of this groundbreaking series.

Summary: not the best season...
Review: I really like this show, have the other seasons on DVD, and don't have HBO, which is why I bought this season. However I think the price they are asking for this season is ridiculous, considering it's only 8 episodes. For an average price of $40 where ever you look, that's about $5 an episode, which is ridiculous! Plus the episodes aren't the best compared to the other seasons, and there isn't enough Mr. Big. I'd recommend buying this only if you have the other seasons and want to complete your collection. Otherwise, get one of the earlier seasons.

Review: First of all, everyone needs to get over the price. To be honest, I think the price for the other SATC DVD sets was a bargain, so if you're a fan, suck it up and fork over the $30. If you don't wanna, then don't. I doubt the crusade against HBO will get you very far. And by the way, what's with people offering their "reviews" when they haven't even purchased the product? I'm tired of these reviews that start out: "I haven't purchased the DVDs yet, and judging by these reviews, I'm not going to..." I'm glad to know you're so swayed by popular opinion, but the whole point of writing a review is to share your thoughts on your PURCHASE. I'll bet 50% of the reviews for this DVD set are just complaining that they're not going to buy it because of the price. Boo hoo! But I digress...I found the fifth season seriously lacking in everything that made the first 4 seasons so great. My main issue (other than the less-than-stellar writing) is this: What happened to Carrie? She is not the same character she was in the previous episodes. Anyone notice that her behavior is completely different than it used to be? I would've thought that someone with as much creative control over the show as Sarah Jessica Parker would've been aware of the quirky and annoying character Carrie was becoming. She is too bubbly this season. Her jokes are more lame than ever. (One particular joke that still boggles the mind is: "Miranda went out with an overeater and he over-ate her." And then she laughs, and Charlotte and Samantha follow on cue. Maybe it's just me, but that's a terrible joke!) In another episode, when referring to the huge bash Samantha is planning for her book party she says: "Okay, this is cuckoo." Cuckoo? Does anyone in New York say that? Would Carrie ever say it? I also don't like Carrie in the first Atlantic City scene when they're walking through the hotel and she's instructing the girls to "take it all in" as if she's some annoying tour guide. I just can't imagine Carrie from last season (or any season) behaving like that. In the season finally, Carrie brings up something she likes to call the "zsa zsa zsu." That's about as lame as the overeater joke. She's never talked about it before, but now she's quite an authority on the subject. Granted, this is more of a writer issue, but it's all part of the character integrity problem I have with this "new" Carrie. She's not the same girl I've been in love with the previous 4 seasons. I also have problems with Samantha this season. I found her acting to be a little over the top, and she did a few things that were out of character for her. I know she's not a baby person, but she did a few things to Miranda that were unusually heartless (i.e. shoving her in a cab to get her out of the way, or confirming her appointment at a salon while Miranda was telling the girls she hasn't slept in days because of Brady). In the previous seasons, Samantha was over the top, but in a controlled, self-assured way. Now it's like she's being over the top for the sake of being over the top. It's out of character for her. She's also overly tanned, and it's a bit disconcerting since the other girls are seasonably pale. She does have some good scenes, but it seems they're more rare. Her final break-up with Richard was great. Charlotte and Miranda were awesome this season, and I found their character developments to be believable and true to their natures. Even with the problems I have with this season, I'm not going to complain about the price or the number of episodes. I bought the DVDs. I've watched them a few times. I now have them in my collection if I ever want to watch a particular scene or episode. If you're a fan, that's why you buy them in the first place.

Summary: Get over it already!!!!
Review: Okay. We get it. The fifth season was short, but it was GREAT too. Even at this price it's so worth it to be able to pop in the DVD anytime you want and watch these hilarious girls take New York by storm. Just thinking of some of the highlights of the fifth season, I bust out laughing- from Miranda's belly button fiasco, to finally meeting Steve's "mah", having Molly Shannon and Amy Sedaris guest as Carrie's book publishers. This season also had great epsodes, like the introduction of Harry, Charlotte's divorce laywer and the best season finale ever, "I Love a Charade." Season five may have been short on episodes, but it was long on laughs, and really if Carrie can drop $400 on a pair of Manolo Blahniks, I think you can spend $40 on this....so stop complaining and just buy it already, you won't be dissapointed!! :)

Review: Oh come on, it's really not this bad. I bought the DVD today and after reading all these reviews I was expecting these 8 episodes to be absolutely horrible. And you know what, they aren't. They may not be the cream of the crop, and they certainly aren't the best to come out of this show, but they are still entertaining, and that's what this show it all about. It's not a life changing show with deep views and moving topics, but it's something to relax and just laugh with, and at. These are not the best epsiodes, but they are still enjoyable. I'm glad I spent my hard earned, whopping 35 dollars on it (gasp, 35 dollars-oh my! oh my!) and I plan to invest in the next season when it comes out, too.

Summary: Only For Die-Hard Fans
Review: Okay. First let me first say that I am writing from the perspective of a 20 year-old male college student. Not that being a guy matters. Well. It does. Let's be stereotypical for a moment. Guys are tight with their money. And in my case, poor college guys are really tight with their money and are really skeptical about buying things unless it's really worth it. I happened to come across the 5th season today and saw if for sale for $30. I am secretly in love with "Sex and the City" (so are my fellow college buddies) and own all the other seasons. I remembered that I bought the last season for the exact same price, but with much, much more episodes. I held it in my hands and thought to myself, "is this worth it?" Common sense told me no. But my obsessive compulsive alter-ego who was dying to have a complete set told me yes. So I bought it. The moment I got to my apartment, I popped it into the DVD player hoping to convince myself that this was more valuable than the groceries that could have lasted me for a week. There were two disks. The first contained:
~Four episodes (Anchors Away, Unoriginal Sin, Luck Be an Old Lady, Cover Girl)
~Audio Commentaries (which are always interesting to listen to)
~A Season Index The second contained:
~Four episodes (Plus One is the Loneliest Number, Critical Condition, The Big Journey, I Love a Charade)
~Audio Commentaries
~A Trivia Game (Fun for only about 5 minutes)
~A Behind the Scenes feature with Costume Designer, Patricia Field (About 22 minutes long, only for those interested in women's fashion. It talked about all designs for all four girls) So did I convince myself that it was worth it? Kinda. Truthfully, buy it if you're a die-hard fan. If you're even wondering about whether are not you should even pick it up, don't. I sucked it up like a man and watched a couple of episodes. And some of them are really great. Mr. Big sorry for everything that he did in "The Big Journey"? Man that guy is cool. But still, right now, I wish I had a frozen pizza. But of course, afterall, this is coming from a guy.

Review: The discs are too expensive, boo hoo, wah wah! Get over it. I agree that the HBO folks SHOULD have lowered the price to make up for the fact that it was a truncated season, but the fact is that they DIDN'T. The product description clearly tells you that you're getting eight episodes. If you don't want to spend the money for eight episodes, then don't. Nobody's holding a gun to your heads. A true fan will savor every moment of the show and wouldn't think of holding it against the Fab Four that the people who produce the DVD's of their show are overcharging us. I wouldn't miss a single episode because of a few dollars. Check out Daniel Sunjata's appearance in the first episode of the season, "Anchors Away", which was his introduction to many of his fans.

Review: I am resisting the urge to add this DVD to my SATC seasons 1 through 4. While I do want to own every episode of this, one of my favorite shows, I cannot justify paying that much for only eight (sub-par) episodes. HBO is taking advantage of their loyal fans and it makes me wish I had never bought anything from them.
