Summary: Third season S&S at it's peak,but only 9/10 brilliant
Review: Sanford & Son's third season not only debuted Grady Wilson(Whitman Mayo) but boasted many classic episodes including The Chameleon(Blind Mellow Jelly),Lamont, Is That You?(The Gay Blade),Introducing The Three Degrees,This Little TV Went to Market(Guy's Groovy Grabbag),Fred Sanford, Legal Eagle,and many others.
Unfortunately towards the end of the season Redd Foxx was absent due to contract disputes.It was explained that Fred was in St. Louis,and Grady was watching the business for Fred.Although some episodes were funny,Redd Foxx was definately missed.
By the following season,Foxx returned with a raise,but the show started to slip in quality.But even mediocre S&S was better than most shows on the air during the era.

Summary: Good Goobily Goop! The best season ever!
Review: Sanford And Son is the greatest TV show ever. And this is the greatest season of the greatest show ever, which makes Season 3 the greatest season of the greatest show ever. Sanford and Son was about a cantanerous, yet hilarious junk dealer living in Watts with his 30-year-old son. While all the other seasons are hilarious, with unforgettable episodes and such, Season 3 seems to be the MOST funny. This is probably why: it includes episodes like 'Superflyer', and 'Members Of The Wedding'. And even though Fred is not present on the last six episodes, his friend Grady is there to ensure just as many laughs.

Review: the first season was wonderful, the second season great, and the third season is the best. it just brings back the good old days. something funny the whole family could watch(without a rating) it's not the movies it t.v. classic t.v.

Review: This is a good dvd set also I own all three but Grady is in charge of Fred's Castle during most of the season he is good and as funny as Fred and he cracks me up just as good as Redd Foxx does ..... Whitman Mayo was a great actor and comedian. I think that Whitman did a pretty good job filling in for Redd Foxx the show still went on without Redd Foxx and had continued to be successful so hats off to Whitman Mayo!!!!

Grady runs the Sanford household on episodes 20-25. Grady will have you laughing as well. Must have DVD. Go purchase all 3 seasons!!!!!! This is a riot of a good time. Timeless classic episodes. A++++++++++

Review: This is probably the peak of the Sanford and Son series. Redd Foxx is at his peak and with a strong supporting cast of characters such as Aunt Esther, Grady, Bubba Bexley and the Sanfords' Puerto Rican neighbor Julio. The best episodes are "The Blind Mellow Jelly Record Collection", "Lamont, Is That You?", "Fred Sanford, Legal Eagle", and "Superflyer." The ones with Grady as the star sag a little but it still is good.

Review: You've read the customer reviews from a few who seem to think that the Grady-led episodes at the end of the season are weak. Season 3 of S&S is my favorite BECAUSE of the hilarious & infamous Grady episodes. Anyone who doesn't find hilarious the Grady classics where he prevents Jo Jo Jackson from beating up a karate-minded Lamont or welcome the wacky cousin Emma into Fred's home (to name a few) must have a whole in his soul. Clearly, the end of season 3 marked the end of S&S's greatness and everything after that marked the beginning of the show's demise (due to bad cliche-filled writing, corny jokes & storylines and poor acting from a drug-hazed Lamont (Demond Wilson).) (To be fair, there are some great moments in season 4, but 5 and on are practically unwatchable.) But watching season 3 is a testament to the power of S&S's actors AND writers, especially in Redd Foxx's absence at the season's end. Buy this DVD with confidence and enjoy the amazing comic legend of both Fred & Grady!
