Summary: Deathly Bad
Review: When you watch a series from a cable network (HBO, Showtime, etc.) you expect good quality writing, originality and a somewhat entertaining show. With Dead Like Me, you don't get any of these things. But hear me out - First of all, this series is definitely geared towards girls between the ages of 17-20 (trust me on this). But regardless of this, there were so many clichés, unoriginal jokes, and just boring writing that this series was very hard to watch.

On top of the awful writing, the characters were incredibly annoying, shallow and just hard to relate or even care for in this show. As one reviewer stated, all your typical characters are in this show - Jaded, don't smile, fish-out-of-water teen girl, your foreigner (not the band) lad, the cheesy sex-pot, cheating husband, etc...
The jokes and storylines were either so boring, ripped off from something else (especially American Beauty for the mother, father and little sister storyline), or so filled with plot holes that you spent more time getting annoyed by this than actually enjoying the show. For example:
Girls that have boy names, thinking the word "moist" is pornographic or gross, main character narrating to the viewer (I never understood this technique and it sort of questions the viewer's intelligence - can you say "Malcolm In The Middle"), etc.

I give Showtime credit for taking a chance on this show (maybe trying to compete with HBO's Six Feet Under) but there are too many plot and logistical flaws and holes for the idea of this show. Showtime should have backed out of this project or at least hired better writers.

Summary: Dead like Me = Kill Me Now
Review: Where do I start? The terrible writing? The recycled plot lines (ever watch any show or movie ever that features an office environment or ponders the afterlife)? The bad acting? The contrivance embedded in every single episode? The cliches piled upon nauseating cliches? I could spend hours writing about the problems with this show, but I have already wasted enough hours justifying the blind purchase of this horrid dvd set. But my biggest regret is trading it in at a record store- now it will either plague someone else or entertain some cynical, smarmy dummy with zero sensibility.
