Review: Season six is a lot better because it becomes
darker in exploring rapid maturity and lust.
Season five however is vital in developing this.
Spike finds love that will eventually leave him

LEAVE Xander ALONE, people get fat, so stop making
fun of him, OK? The finale is important in letting
you know the loyalty between spike and buffy no
matter how much friction there is. If you are an
avid buffy fan, purchase season 5 , if not....
wait till season 6 and buy that.....season 7 is a
poor storyline and very boring but all the other
seasons are worth purchasing. Please
buy season six , THE MUSICAL IS FANTASTIC.

Summary: A New Direction for Sunnydale
Review: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" enters its Fifth Season with lots of surprises for the Scooby Gang and their Slayer. This special year was a gigantic season of wonderful stories-with the introduction of Dawn Summers,(a mystical key/Buffy's sister), Ben, and their big baddie,(and first female villain), Glory, (a Hell god)!What can I say about Season 5, that most don't already know about already? Nothing! So let me express this review, in my view, how I felt about this famous year! Many fans,(old or new), have different opinions about their favorite season, but my favorite will always be Season 5! Why is that? You may ask, and I'll tell you that this year was great because we finally saw Buffy grow into a young adult, actually, we saw the rest of the Scoobies grow deeper into their character too, which is so much, that they seem as if they were really real best friends of mine growing up. There's an excellent season premier with Dracula visiting the Slayer, and the episode, "Blood Ties", that really shows the meaning of sisterhood and family,through Dawn finding out who she really is, and there's many more that I can't name in just one review....Well, I could, but it would be a really long review,lol! This year, Buffy faced her first female villain, Glory, who was stronger than Buffy would ever be. Dawn Summers, Buffy's sister,(played by Michelle Tractenberg-"Harriet the Spy"), has a brillaint storyline in the season which really shows the meaning of true love and family. Riley breaks down, loses faith in Buffy, cheats on her with a vampire, and leaves Sunnydale to join the Initiative in South America in a dramatic episode leaving Buffy broken hearted. Xander confesses his love for Anya and in the finale, proposes for her hand in marriage, while Willow and Tara prove their love is stronger than anything around, as Giles buys the Magic Box to occupy his time as unemployed Watcher, as Spike comes to terms with his feelings for Buffy, that grows into something special throughout, and near the end of Season 7.
In this season, we see signs of Joyce's fate as she slowly dies of a brain tumor in a emotional episode for the Scoobies that has no background scores or wacky tunes in the background, only real life. "The Body" also shows the brilliance of Sarah Michelle Geller as an actress as she copes with finding her mother, Joyce, dead on their couch, and the brilliance of Emma Caulfield, (Anya), with her speech about "what is death?".
Don't worry, this season has ALOT of action in it, but the drama in this season is just so overwhelming that I keep those momments of Season 5 to heart more than the action sequences!
As I said, there is alot of action, and it centers mostly around the Key storyline, with Buffy keeping the truth from Glory, for Glory wants to use it to go home, not caring that it'll end the world if she does. We have the Ben storyline, that is finally connected to Glory near the end of the season, and we have Buffy's. In the season finale, "The Gift", Glory finally gets Dawn, and uses her to open all the dimensions of the world which leads to a battle of bloodshed, heartache, and suprising twists of Giles true nature. In the last moments of the finale, Buffy dies to save all of humanity, but most of all, for her sister. You see, the episode title is called "The Gift", and the gift was life for Dawn, because it was either Dawn, or Buffy, that could stop the world from ending, and Buffy steps up and sacrifices herself for her sister, because of love. The season started great, and ended in a mind numbing, heart pounding, crying your eyes out great that will always be remembered as a brilliant episode in my, and every fans book! Now, I have my title, "A New Direction for Sunnydale", because thats what it was. Seasons 1-4, they seem so different than Season 5, and the final two, and thats because the Scoobies grew up so fast, and they began to mature into wonderful young adults. My last statements is that, I love the last years more than the first few years, I love the way they ended the series! I loved Season 6,(it was so much mature, and they went throught what many real people will in life), and I especially love Season 7, (Because its connected to Season 5 on so many levels, and has a brilliant storyline so wonderful for the Slayer, that many so-called fans hate, and love). I'm so glad Season 5 comes out on DVD, and encourage fans, and fans who are starting to witness to greatness of this series, I encourage all to buy this season, you won't be let down! And I also want to thank Joss Whedon too, for not stoping the series in the 5th Season, because he, and they gave us two more wonderful, (but misunderstood by many), seasons for all to charish forever! Enjoy! You won't regret it!

Summary: Better than Season 4
Review: Season 5 of Buffy was a breath of fresh air after the lackluster Initiative storyline of Season 4. Many of the characters go through changes...Buffy deals with a new annoying sister named Dawn, Riley is jealous and pimps himself out to vamps, Willow is more comfortable in her sexuality, Giles becomes redundant, Xander starts to get fat, Anya displays her comedic brilliance and Spike explores obsession. The highlights of this season include Joyce's death, a suped-up Harmony, the return of Druscilla and the Buffy-bot! The main villian, Glory also proved to be a delight, though the actress that portrayed her did seem to lay it on a bit thick at times. The final arch involving Buffy's death is also a treat, though I do believe they should have just ended it here and not given us the lame season 6 or the pitiful final season. After this season it is all downhill for the Scoobies as Giles leaves, Spike is the Fonz and Xander becomes so obese he looks like he'd be leaving Sunnydale for the Macy's Parade.

Summary: A season of change
Review: In this season, we of course learn a lot about the mysterious new character named Dawn, and how she is really this mystical key that these monks have put into the form of something that Buffy will forever protect; a sister. And then there's this fallen god who is after this key named Glory, and there's this thing that she does where she can transform herself from...well, from a female and to a male and back again in some rather spectacularly wonderful special effects. We also learn though that even through some of these spectacular battles, the Summers family all have lives and a past that reach far beyond Sunnydale, some of them very fragile and shattered lives. As we learn of Spike's past from before he became a vampire in leagues with Angel and Darla, we learn that he wasn't always as crass and spiteful as he once became. We learn of Tara's past, and how she was conditioned into what she had become as she was growing up, as well as how far back the memories of Dawn reach back. But while learning of the rich histories of many of our characters, we also learn of the impending death of Joyce Summers with her brain tumor, which culminated in the episode "The Body", which had no background music, and no real special mission for Buffy to go on. Of course, none of this underscores the climatic battle between Buffy and Glory, where Buffy makes the ultimate sacrifice, impending in her own death.

Summary: The season that got me hooked on Buffy
Review: If I remember correctly, Season 5 is only the second season of the show that I saw in it's entirety from beginning to end, and it's the first one where I really fell in love with Buffy.
Truth be told, it was Spike who first got me hooked on it. I was dying to see each next episode to see what would be done with his character. His most entertaining and involving story-arc takes place in Season 5, imo.
Every season of Buffy has at least one of the series's all-time greatest episodes in it, and Season 5 is no exception. 'Fool for Love,' which gives us a glimpse into Spike's history and psyche through stunning flashbacks, 'The Body,' about the immediate aftermath of the death of someone near and dear, and 'The Gift,' the epic season finale are three episodes that are consistently ranked near the top in fans' lists of their favorite episodes.
But if you ask me, every episode of Season 5 is good. The only season that I think has more really solid episodes than Season 5 is Season 3.
So run out, and buy the Buffy Season 5 DVD set now! ;)

Summary: An Amazing Season
Review: The Fifth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of the best. Not only does it introduce Buffy's little sister, Dawn, it also gives the Slayer, finally, a strong female villain to spar against. Not only is she bad, she's a God. Glorificus. Glory. The season starts off with a fun episode pitting Buffy against the king of vampires, Dracula. It also introduces a recurring theme in the fifth season. Darkness. While, Buffy is good, darkness still resides within her. At the end of the episode, we are introduced to Dawn. In the next few episodes, Dawn is revealed to be the Key, a device Glory can use to get back to her Hell dimension and destroy the world unless Buffy can stop her. This season sees the departure of Buffy's boyfriend Riley, the furthering of Willow's relationship with Tara, and the start of Spike's infatuation and future love affair with the Slayer. The two best episodes of the season, are "The Body" and "The Gift". ... It is an amazingly written ep filmed with no soundtrack. The final ep is "The Gift". If you haven't seen it I won't ruin the surprise, but it is in the top five best ep's ever. The fifth season cements "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" as one of TV's finest dramas with an exceptional cast. It is a worthy addition to anyones DVD collection.

Summary: The Golden Season
Review: Season 5 is the best Season of the series! Season 5 takes the Series into a whole new direction, with an appearence of Dracula, who tells Buffy her powers are rooted from darkness,(which is continued in the 7th Season), and also we see the introduction of Dawn Summers, who just so happens to be a mystical Key, put into protection of the Slayer,her sister, Buffy Summers. In this big season, Buffy's up against an immortal god named Glory, who wants to use the Key to return back to her home. Buffy and Giles joins the Watcher's Council again, giving the Council orders this time around. Tara becomes a Scooby member, Riley leaves Sunnydale, and we dive into the storyline of the Slayer's before Buffy,(which continues in the 7th Season). Also this season, Spike finds out he is in love with the Slayer. Buffy loses her mother do to natural causes, in the episode, "The Body", which is so powerful, and real, that you won't see anything like this on regular shows! And as the Season begins to close, Glory releases her wrath as she begins to torture the Slayer's allies,( Spike, and Tara), as she comes close to finding out who the Key really is. And if that wasn't the top of the icing on the cake, the Series turns its big 100, episode-wise, in the Season Finale in which throws Buffy into a descision of choosing either family, or slayage. In the Season Finale, "The Gift", Glory steals Dawn, uses her blood to open the portal, releasing a big ball of energy which opens dimensions, letting demons and dragons into our world! As the Scooby Gang fights their war against Glory's minions, Buffy and Glory have a blowout which leads to a surprise ending for Glory, by Giles, that will make you consider if you really know who Giles really is. And as the episode closes, we're taken to the top of the tower where Dawn is tied, and we see Buffy finally coming to terms of her destiny of being a Slayer, as she knows what she has to do, and she kisses Dawn goodbye and jumps from the tower, into the mystical energy, saving the world,(in a heart-wrenching, emotional scene, with the score of "The Sacrifice" playing in the background), which ends with Buffy saying "goodbye" to Dawn in a voiceover scene as we see her take her last breathe, as the energy closes up, and as the Scoobies walk up to Buffy's lifeless body as Season 5 closes with them shedding bittersweet tears as the episode shows one last scene, the scene of her tombstone, reading "Beloved Sister, Friend, She Saved The World Alot"! Season 5 turns into a new direction for the series, it has the Scoobies growing up, even Xander in "The Replacement", which takes them into new turns in life. They aren't children anymore, they're adults. This Season is highly recommended, for it starts the new turn that Season 6, and later Season 7 takes with them, as they go farther into the chapter of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"! But have no fear! Our loveable Vampire Slayer will return, alive and kicking for two more seasons on DVD!

Review: This is one of the best seasons. If your a Spike fan you'll love this season. Spike evolves from pure villian to a man trying to change for love. Glory was one of the best villian ever. This season has some of the best eps. "Fool for Love" "Crush" "Intervention" "The Gift". "The Body" was also a great eps. but a little too real so I don't like to watch it much.

Summary: 5th SEASON ROCKED!!!
Review: Okay, so you got the annoying little sister from nowhere who is really just a ball of energy, and comes with fake memories for everyone. She's "the key" and doesn't know. Plus there's the strongest villan ever introduced, the goddess, Glory. The really hot/stupid ex-soldier boyfriend getting weird, your mom dying, your boyfriend leaving you because YOU (Buffy) caught him (Riley) getting blood sucked from him in a skanky way, your worst vampire enemy falling in love with you (Spike), PLUS then there's that whole end of the world thing with her having to die. SO YEAH! This Season ROCKED!!! It had the best stuff happen, it made me laugh SO hard, and cry at points, and it was packed FULL of drama. OH! Lets not forget my favorite character Anya was FINALLY added to the cast, even though she'd been around since 3rd Season. Hm. So yeah. GET THIS!!!!!!! THIS THIS NOW!!!!!!
