Summary: Great Series, Poor DVD
Review: I am in accord with most of the reviews here. This series is an "Evergreen"...something precious that will never die...However, the company that is releasing these DVDs have got to get on the ball and start releasing a quality product. These episodes are badly edited and a lot of scenes are deleted.....true "Little House" fans know this!!!! Apparently the company is not listening to the complaints because each season gets worse! Give us the quality DVD that we deserve with full restoration like "The Waltons". That is a quality product at almost half the price that "Little House" is charging for their set...cuts and all. The video plays fine on my DVD....the audio could be improved. The episodes are fine...some a little better than others. Melissa Gilbert as Laura can be irritating at times and the payoff in a lot of these episodes could be better as well. But for the most part "Little House" is numero uno compared to the garbage of today's television. Get the rest of the seasons out there but get them fully uncut and restored!! By the way, Season five is coming out on June 29th!!

Summary: A classic to share with new generations
Review: I grew up watching LHOTP and loved every single episode - several times at that! Having the seasons released on DVD is wonderful, almost like a treasure - one that I will most definitely share with my own children as they grow up. I would like to see more "extra features" such as behind the scenes, extra footage and live interviews. All in all, definitely worth the investment, I can't wait to buy them all!

Summary: Not totally satisfied!
Review: I have all 4 seasons now and still plan to buy the rest as they come out. But, like the other seasons I am upset with the final outcome!! It's a shame the people doing this aren't fans, because I know it could be done allot better if it were done by fans or people that cared. The episode guides in 2 of the seasons are wrong, I agree with the other writer about the commericial thing, how annoying that is!! And the sound quality is awful. I'm not even going to get started about the photo's on the covers and the ones on the dvd's!! I'll never be able to fit it in here....lol I am thankful with all it's mistakes and such that someone or company has taken the step to let us fans have all of it on dvdand I am pleased to have it on dvd and plan to own all the seasons.

Summary: Putting my foot down..holding off buying
Review: I have purchased the first two seasons and based on what I have read about the seasons 3 and 4, can see nothing has changed. What a huge shame that this wonderful show got stuck with an uncaring company releasing its DVDs. As a polar opposite, check out the DVD release for Freaks & Geeks (one of the few recent shows worthy of being mentioned with LHOP) and see what a true DVD package should look like. Hours of extra features, and extreme care paid to both DVD presentation as well as picture quality. I truly hope another company can just come in and re-release all the seasons. I know I would write off the earlier purchases and just buy the superior DVDs out of loyalty to the show. My guess is that many others would do that as well. It would be a great way to let companies know that they can't get away with releasing inferior products. Maybe someone should start an online petition.

Summary: Horrible Video Quality...
Review: I have Seasons 1-4 right now... One and Two were not good... Three a little better but Season 4 is the worst in video quality of them all so far. If I had recorded this on tape years and years ago, I could have transfered it to DVD myself and achieved a better end result. It is fuzzy... Out door scenes are always washed out... sometimes the color changes right before your eyes... and the cuts that used to be there for commercials chops off as though it has been trimmed and trimmed until now the cuts are too soon amking them horrible transitions... The problem is as long as we keep buying them the manufacturer is NOT GOING TO MAKE THEM ANY BETTER.

Summary: POOR QUALITY DVD- But The Price Is Right
Review: I have to agree with one of the readers remarks. True Little House Fans should realize that this project was throwen together in a few minutes. For one thing, the company knew they where not selling the best quality DVD's, or the price would have been ten times higher. If they had behind the scenes footage and interviews etc, as well as better scene selections. You can imagine how much the price would be jacked up. Instead of paying 45.00 per season expect to pay 80.00 to 90.00. The more time they spend on it, the more of a cost it will become. This is one of the best TV family series that has been aired. I agree on that statement, but people have to realize that the younger generation has not growen up with Little House, if they did it was becuase of the parents interest. NBC or any other company will not release another version of Little House seasons becuase there will be no demand, or it will be much more expensive as well as Limited addition. They also have obviously realized that people still do watch the show or they would have NOT released it on DVD. As for visual quality, I agree that it can be as bad as watching a VHS, but as one viewer put it, its better then pressing the fast foward button and waiting fer certain episodes to be aired. No commercials is a treat as well.
I encourage everyone to continue purchasing the series who just want to watch the show and don't care about extra tidbits DVD's normally offer . For people complaining about quality- you won't get far becuase the price more then reasonable. Stop buying the series if your not satisfied and write the company a complaint. They will view complaints if enough people write. The show itself deserves 5 stars.. Melissa Gilbert did get on my nerves a few times... And it was way off from the novels. But again Michael Landon does a Superb job. I can't wait for Season 6!! In my opinion is the best season. Other Good Family Series 1) Dr. Quinn

Summary: A MUST HAVE- For LHOTP FANS
Review: I hope they release all the seasons on DVD.. I have really enjoyed watching the first four and have become a avid collector. I really recommend this for people who watch the series. If there is a certain episode you want to watch you don't have to wait for months to have it aired again on the tele. The only way NBC will release more seasons is if there is a demand for the series.. I 'am thrilled that they have been selling the complete season and would buy all of them. A minor note.. the only thing I did not like was that they did not have any movie footage behind the sceens such as interviews with the actors and bloopers. They only have written interviews and memories. But all in all its a excellent ivestment and was suprised at how low the price was .

Summary: Series with Substance
Review: In this day of reality T.V., In your face attitudes and shallow charictors, It's real cool to see family togetherness, decent acting and memorable stories. Finely it's an option to own this classic where Love conquers all. I own the first 3 seasons and find the quality of the picture excellent especially considering that the series aired close to thirty years ago. Thank You.
