Summary: "A gorgeous yet nausiating episode."
Review: That's how Matt Groenig describes the episode "Why Must I be a Crustacean in Love." One of the reasons this is an incredible set is because of the audio commentaries, their hysterical! The best commentaries are on Crustacean, A Head in the Polls, A Bicyclops Built for Two, and (my favorite) The Deep South. Everything from Billy West's inspiration for the voice of Nixon to John DiMaggio's laugh to David X. Cohens lovable geekiness is given it's share on this set. If you own this set or plan on buying, for godsakes listen to these commentaries!

Animation and storytelling wise, this has to be one of the smartest shows that was on the air. Everything from the puns and the references to the hysterical dialouge that seems to slip by, it was all done extremely well! This also has to be, The Simpsons aside of course, one of the finest voice casts ever assembled. All of the voices, ALL of them, were done by a total of seven people, with Billy West doing the voices of three of the main characters.

Easily one of the best animated shows of all time.

Summary: I'm Gonna Kick Your Neck!
Review: I remember when Futurama first came on. I thought that it was the perfect follow up to The Simpsons. When it first came out The Simpons was still number one, but it was starting to get a little stale and I think even Matt Groening was starting to realize that. Futurama openned new doors for the brand of humor that was common in Groening's projects. Futurama could do things that would be just too off the wall on The Simpsons. Anything could be recreated t suit the purposes of the show.
The cast of characters rivals that of the Simpsons. Fry, Leela, Bender, the Proffesor, Dr. Zoidberg, Amy, Zap Branigan, Hermes, they are so acceptable in the eyes of someone who grew up watching The Simpsons. The characters have a real saditic streak in this show. Fry is a proud ignorant fool, Leela has rage issues, the Proffesor has a god complex, Zoidberg is a hideous space monster who smells like and eats garbage. I epsecially love Zoidberg. He's either saying something totally off the wall or just being pathetic. Both sides of him are always funny. One of the best additions to the show in this season is the head of Richard Nixon running for president of the world. The episode where he runs and wins is so ridiculous and clever. Nixon singing "Feed You're Head" on TV and then claiming to be meeting the hippies halfway is golden. In later episodes we learn that Nixon has made as his vice-president the head-less body of Spyro Agnew. That's just....wow. That was so obscure I had to look up who Agnew was.
All in all, this is a real gem of a show. I'm glad its getting new attention thanks to the DVDs and Adult Swim. Comedy like this is so great you wonder why it was cancelled. If you ever get tired of the new Simpsons episodes check out Futurama and treat yourself to a nice little chuckle. This is a pretty sick show with off the wall humor and outlandish characters and settings. The Star Wars of animated comedy shows! Literally!

Summary: Volume Two: The Most Consistent
Review: While Volumes Three and Four of Futurama contain most of the all-time great episodes (along with some of the worst as well), I believe Volume Two to be the most consistently good. "Anthology of Interest I," "War is the H-Word," "Put Your Head on My Shoulders," "X-Mas Story", and "A Head in the Polls" are among the best, with Dr. Zoidberg's "Why Must I Be A Crustacean in Love?" possibly being the funniest (if you like Zoidberg). Overall, it's pretty hard to find a poorly done piece, and almost every episode has enough good points to watch it over again. The only problem is, while all of this stuff is good, it's rarely "great." After all, it is the later episodes that become both funnier and more emotionally rendered, and here everything is simply well-done. This is NOT a bad point, however, because the quality of this Volume is amazing. Again, almost EVERY episode here is good. Buy it.

Summary: Another Great Futurama DVD Set
Review: Here's more of the same, which is exactly what I want! Volume two continues Futurama's technique of taking comedic material to the Nth level. The stories are still inventive. The humor is still rich. A healthy knowledge of modern history and culture will help viewers' appreciation of the show.

This is the kind of comedy that makes me laugh loud enough for other people in the house to approach and ask, "what's so funny?" When they stay to watch they, too, are laughing. There's so much to enjoy.

Each Futurama disk comes with it's own slim case, which I think is great.

I don't think volume two is any better than volume one. Not that it matters since both DVD sets offer fantastic laughs.
