Summary: futurama vol. 2....
Review: I'm not going to review Futurama itself, if you want to read my review about this show, you're welcome to read my review of "Futurama Vol. 1", instead, i'll go to review the DVDs themselves.

Video: Excellent! nothing to complain! this show since the first volume looks top-notch... the blend of 2D and 3D animation couldn't look better.

Audio: Booooo! Hissss! Again, Fox released this volume with the Dolby 2.0 (sounds good, but the 5.1 sounds muuuuuch better), even, i think that this serie have more chances for the 5.1 than the Simpsons (and they got this audio treatment), anyway, you cannot notice any hiss or sound alteration in this track.

Foreign language support: Very good, with english, french, and spanish audio tracks, plus the subtitles in the same languages (besides, Fox Latam have never released the Vol. 1 in Mexico or Latin America (Region 4), so, if you like this show, better buy it in amazon ;) )

Extras: I haven't checked them, but a fatal flaw (again!) was the absence of the PLAY ALL function (they put this on the Simpsons, but not here... go figure!)

The menus are very good (not more the static menus of the Vol 1, but not irritating like many others dvds), and i love the package (the slim cases for each disc are so cool... i like this presentation more than the Fold-in packaging of the simpsons sets (that, i must add are beauty, but they cannot hold the DVD's very good)

Very recommendable

Summary: Cancelled, huh? What baloney
Review: I used to watch a lot of TV. Then, as the years went by, I watched less and less. Now I hardly watch any at all. But "Futurama" was one of the few things I did watch. And, now, it's gone. But wait! No, it's not! Thanks to the wonders of
modern technology, it has become effectively immortal thanks to
DVD! Now I can watch it along with all the other cartoons I enjoy so thoroughly. This is great stuff. You will love it, I
promise. If you don't, then you are sadly not warped.

Summary: Excellent Sophomore Effort
Review: I remember watching Futurama when it debuted and thinking how far their animation and writing had progressed from when the Simpsons came online. Lessons learned, it presented a new universe for Groening fans to acclimate to and quickly absorb. Consistently sharp and satirical with plenty of sci-fi / computer / literary references it went on to become a bit of the thinking man's Simpsons. Sadly Fox bounced it around their line up, failed to promote it properly and doomed it to extinction. The second season DVD continues the excellent packaging of the first, the discs are in their 4 plastic cases within the box which has a see through cellophane-ish window on the front. The picture quality is beautiful on my 57" Sony HDTV. As others have said, you could pause the frame and just leave it there as art, heh. The audio commentary as with Season 1 is first rate, sprinkling in voice actors, directors, writers, producers, animators, and Groening himself. Zap Brannigan again steals the DVD just as the one dimensional Hermes hinders it. Fry and the Professor are given freer reign and the shapely Amy gets to traipse around in more revealing futuristic outfits. I'm going to have to wait for the retro arcade gaming episode for next season as well as the Fry's dog tearjerker, but Season 2 is excellent and highly recommended.

Summary: An outstanding box set
Review: As a huge fan of Futurama, I was ecstatic to see Futurama released on DVD. This release does not disappoint. The picture is crystal clear and the sound is wonderful. It is great being able to watch my favorite episodes at my leisure, and at the best possible quality as well. The DVD's are very well designed. Menus are animated and fun to look at. There are even several Easter Eggs hidden throughout the menus. The commentaries are informative and fun to listen to. Overall, if you are a fan of Futurama, you must buy this set. Now!

Summary: OH I FORGOT!....
Review: I forgot to mention in my review below, the voice of Bender (my favorite character) is done by John Dimaggio (Not the son of "Joltin'" Joe Dimaggio) He also does the voice of Elzar (The T.V. chef) and Mr. Panucci (Fry's former boss at the pizzaria).

Summary: FUTURAMA
Review: This show is so smart and hilarious. I can't believe Fox canceled it, while keeping shows like King of the Hill, which I cannot stand!
The show stars Fry, who winds up in the year 3000 by accident. New Year's eve 1999 he's delivering a pizza to a cryogenic's lab, the delivery is a crank call (it's to "I.C. Weiner"). And as he sits back as the new year rolls in, he falls backward into a freezer, and wakes up in the year 3000. He makes friends with Bender, a degenerate and belligerent robot, who guzzles beer (he needs the alchohol for his batteries) puffs on cigars and ogles robot porno. But, somewhere in that cold metal heart, is a compacity (albeit a small one) for love, and he does tend to get mushy. (can you tell he's my favorite character?)

And a lovely one-eyed alien with purple hair, Leela (who works at the cryogenic's lab). They track down Fry's great-great-great..etc. nephew, Professor Hubert Farnsworth, who hires all three to work for his intergalactic delivery service, from there they go on many adventures, and meet all kinds of interesting people, aliens and robots. And Professor/Mad Scientist Farnsworth makes all kinds of interesting and sometimes stupid inventions.

The voice of Fry, Professor Farnsworth and Dr. Zoidberg is done by the incredibly talented Billy West, who did the voice of Ren and Stimpy. The voice of Leela is done by Katy Sagal, who was in "Married with Children".

Billy West had said in an interview that he based the voice of Stimpy on the voice of Larry Fine (from The Three Stooges) And I hear some similarity in Fry's voice. And another obvious Stooges parallel, is when Dr. Zoidberg scuttles away (usually after he's caught in the act of doing something wrong) and imitates Curly "woo! woo! woo! woo! woo! woo!" and sometimes "nyuk! nyuk! nyuk!" :-)

I love all the characters: Dr. Zoidberg, Bender, Fry, Leela, Professor Farnsworth, Nibbler (Leela's pet), Amy, Leela's parents, Amy's parents, Zapp Brannigan, Mom (and her sons), Elzar the T.V. chef, Hermes, Kiff, the Omicronians, President Nixon.... They're all dear to me. :-)

All the episodes are funny and entertaining, it's hard to pick favorites. The second volume has four disks while the first one only has three. I like this second one better.

It really stinks that Fox canceled it. I hope there's going to be more than two boxsets...

Summary: Futurama, Family Guy, South Park, Duckman, Simpsons
Review: Futurama, Family Guy, South Park, Duckman, Simpsons: These are the animated programs of the past decade or so that have changed everything. All of them are superb -- if there is a series you've missed among them, seek it out! TV life before these programs just wasn't as entertaining.

Summary: Commentary
Review: this is one of the greatest tv shows ever. i have watched ever epiosde shown in New Zealand (up to season 3 and half) 100 times. i have never watched a DVD with the Commentary on, but the Commentary on this DVD kicks .... the guys are funny as hell. Matt Groening and David X Cohen are in all them. David is my favorite to listen to because he cool and he know everything about the show and all the little bit you may miss. between David and Matt you find out just about where the ideas for stuff in the show comes from. the other best bit from the commentary i can remember (after 2 seasons i can't remember much of what they say) is said by Billy West (Fry) is in episode 7 of season 2, Put Your Head on My Shoulder where Frys head is on Amys shoulder and Amy is getting ready for a date.

Summary: Good as always, but why...
Review: ... yes, why do we here in the USA have to wait so long for seasons 3 and on (guys in Europe and Australia are already waiting for season 4)? How much money do they want to squeeze out of re-running the show?
