Summary: Smeg-tastic
Review: I am a Brit living in USA and was very happy to hear about the US release of the DVDs. I have both series and have not laughed so much in ages. My trusty old Red Dwarf Videos are wearing out from so much use and so the DVD's couldn't come at a better time.

By far the best thing is the commentary from the 4 main cast members. They clearly haven't watched the episodes in years and are obviously having a lot of fun remembering what went on at the time. I'm not sure that all Americans will understand some of the words they use (some of them are very London based colloquialisms) but I understood them and enjoyed each episode with the commentary. I haven't laughed so much in ages.

It's simply SMEGTASTIC.

Summary: Wonderful for homesick Brits!
Review: I am English and was 16 when the first series of Red Dwarf came out. I think my Dad and I watched every single episode of every series. Now that I live in America I tend to get homesick sometimes. So I go through phases of watching any English comedies I can get my hands on - Blackadder, Ab Fab, French & Saunders, Last of the Summer Wine, Jeeves & Wooster (although I draw the line at Are you Being Served. I hated that program and I am not going to change my mind now!). I came really close to buying Red Dwarf on VHS last year (was getting desperate!) but then I found out they were finally releasing it on DVD so I am really glad I waited.
If you've never heard of Red Dwarf but you like the comedy of Blackadder and Ab Fab, give it a try - I don't think you will be dissapointed.

Summary: Hilarious
Review: I first discovered this show while watching a local air channel, and, thinking it funny, watched again the next saturday night. I have been a loyal watcher ever since and have just bought the DVD. It is a hilarious British space spoof with somewhat dated special effects, but it is hardly a downside to this wonderful, ingenious comedy.

Summary: a birthday present to myself
Review: i have been a fan of RD from the start and try to tape as many episodes as possible but failed miserably, so when i saw that the whole of series I and II were out on DVD, I was ecstatic! I was supposed to get them as a birthday present, but couldn't wait and ordered them myself. I love them!!! Even the menus and the intro are cool and the cast commentary is excellent. In fact, all of extras are wonderful. The best part of all--I can watch them over and over AND over. I am dying to get the rest of the series on DVD. Well worth buying. A must have for anyone who likes to laugh. Best birthday present I ever received!

Summary: Funniest Sci Fi series ever
Review: I have every episode from all eight seasons, and I've watched them many, many times. This is the one of the funniest series shows EVER.....and I'm not even from the UK!
I actually enjoyed the series even more than the books, which is highly unusual. It brings to life the most ecclectic and twisted spacers ever to wreak havok across space and time. So if you liked Hichhiker's Guide To The Galaxy or MST3K, do yourself a favor and GET THIS SERIES!!!

Summary: Red Dwarf is Hear and It's About Time
Review: I have loved this TV show ever since first saw it when I was a little kid and now that I'm older and able to understand all of the jokes, I love it even more. I have been waiting to be able to purchase all eight of the Red Dwarf seasons some where other than the Red Dwarf website which had split up the eight seasons into eighteen VHS tapes that cost twenty dollars apiece I recommend this to anyone who has a sense of humor but I would like to warn you that the joke are crude sometimes so I wouldn't recommend this for people who are offended by bathroom jokes. I'm proud to see this show coming to America and I think if you have any sense of humor at all you will find this show hilarious.

Summary: Great!!
Review: I purchased this as a gift for my husband on Father's Day, we all absolutely love it! We used to watch the show on our local PBS. They stopped running it and we have missed it terribly. This is our favorite show ever!!

Summary: Red Dwarf... with all the bonuses you could want.
Review: I'm sure there are already adequite desciptions of the episode plots posted on Amazon, so I'll simply add a few details. There are 12 episodes, with optional commentaries, deleted scenes, smeg-ups, one uncut music video, the Red Dwarf A to Z documentary with Patrick Stewart and Terry Pratchett, full chapters of the illuminating Red Dwarf audio books that are read aloud by Rimmer (the books have much better character development), special effects raw footage, weblinks, photogalleries, trailers, music cues, collectors booklets, hidden easter eggs, interviews with Doug Naylor, the Japanese version of The End. So, these four DVD's contain everything you could want from the first two seasons.

Summary: Red Dwarf = Entertainment
Review: I've been watching Red Dwarf since my Grandfather brought it to my attention on PBS several years back. I didn't think much of it then, but as I grew older and more mature (probably smarter too) I caught in on PBS again........different part of the U.S. this time. I believe it was somewhere around season 6 the second time........close to the same as before I think. Upon watching it I was drawn to the witty comments and true to science fiction atmosphere.......it had me in tears. When season six ended........all Dwarfers know the long awaited end to that season.....they picked up at the beggining with season one. At first I was very dissapointed, wanting to see what happened to the crew and all. However I noticed the change in the set....or special effects.....I was drawn to the story. I wanted to see where these lunatics where spawned. I watched all the way back up to season 6 again and still the cliffhanger. Luckily not too long after that they where released on Video.....I was elated. I purchased all that where available........and eventually the long awaited season 7.....then 8. Now I'm waiting for the movie to be finnished and released.....check out the fan club for more info. To make a long story short...season one and season two may not have the effects or the financing...however with a keen wit or intellect you'll find the jokes are just as funny. Once you work your way through the complete seasons.....and I mean all of them, you'll be glad you did. I just wish they could make them as fast as I can watch them. Its awesome that they are being released on DVD, I will wait to purchase them when all of them are released as a box set......and you know they will. If you have never heard of Red Dwarf (especially in the States) and you like LEXX......or british commedy then get Red Dwarf. Your life won't be complete without it.

Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!
