Summary: Tom Welling makes me drool
Review: I too thought this series was a bad idea when I first heard about it, but then was instantly drawn in. Tom Welling is obviously a total hottie, but the story lines and other actors are great as well. Good music. This series is even good on mute and in slow motion..

Summary: "It is Miraculous.....!"
Review: It's like the X-Files meets Superboy (while he is learning about himself and his powers) This is an awesome show! It's like a real live comic book on TV! The DVD shines!
Who in the heck directed "The Hulk" movie? They could take some lessons in good story telling from this show. Unbelievable! This is great entertainment! Make some popcorn, grab a Coke (with ice) and settle in for hours of entertainment. WOW!

Summary: Entertaining and addicting
Review: I was not expecting to be as absorbed in this TV show when I first heard about it. Never a real fan of Superman, I had impartial feelings for the plot of "Smallville." However, it only took one episode for me to realize that this is more than a show about Superman; it's a show that teenagers around the world can relate to. Sure, we all can't shoot fire out of our eyes or run faster than a rocket exiting our atmosphere, but the emotional plot and the teen experiences Clark and the rest of the cast go through are right on point.
In my opinion, Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang) really makes the show. And not just because she's gorgeous. Or a great actress (and has one of the most interesting stories of how she got started acting), but because... well, because she's gorgeous and a great actress. And because she's my future wife.
But in all seriousness, this show is addicting, and should not be passed over. And, in response to the clueless reviewer ranting about how 25-year old women pretending to be teenagers are pouting their lips in exchange for acting abilities, you're dreadfully wrong. Kristin Kreuk was only 19 when she filmed the first season of Smallville, hardly too old to be a convincing high schooler. And the acting abilities of Allison Mack and Kristin Kreuk are in no way inadequate. All in all, a great TV show and a great DVD!

Summary: Definitly a Great, Superb Series
Review: This is one of the best series out in television in today's world. All the actors are absolutely marvolous, especially Kristin Kruek and all of the Kents. The themes are absolutly amazing and down-to-earth. This is a series everyone can identify with in some form or way.

Smallville deals with Clark Kent as a teenager for the most part. Yet what makes it unique is that not all of the issues and situations have to deal with just defeating the "bad guy". There are also intricate emotional plots and etical problems that arise and have to be dealt with. What also makes this an amazing DVD/TV series is the way almost all of the characterss have to learn about themselves and who they are, not just Clark.

All in all, one very good buy for families and friends alike.

Summary: SMALLVILLE SEASON ONE
Review: Clark Kent's journey to becoming Superman is the most intriguing show on television. Lex's foreshadowing of his eventual villainy is intriguing. Clark and Lana's relationship is young love at its strongest and weakest moments. Chloe and Clark's friendship is a passionate and heart-rendering tale. SMALLVILLE is the show that mixes not only action, suspense, and drama, but romance, foreshdaowing, and mystery. All this, plus BRILLIANT writing, exceptional acting, and incredibly moving music make this my favorite show on tv. The first season is a great introduction tot he show. Clark and Lex begin as friends. Clark pines after Lana. What Clark doesn't see is that Chloe and Lana are both for him, the perfect combination of journalistic drive and sensitivity. The episodes that are the real highlights of this season, in my opinion, are the following:
"Pilot"-An intro to the characters and a retelling of the classic tale of Superman.

"Cool"-A relatable and heart-rendering episode. The episode that got me absolutely hooked!!

"Zero"-A foreshadowing, thrilling episode about Lex's past. And the impact his past may have on his future.

"Nicodemous"-Lana at her sexiest!

"Tempest"-A thrilling cliffhanger.

The DVD features are great. I recommend this for fans of the show, and of Superman, and, basically, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Summary: "Somebody Saaave Meee..." For 14 year old girls only.
Review: I was an avid comic collector (and I still collect some now) and Superman has always been the most monkeyed-with character. But "Smallville" has gone too far.

Maudlin and silly, this continuity-busting show is simply "Dawson's Creek" with teenage Superman thrown in + 1 black helper character (all the networks got in trouble for color-less programming so I thought that I would mention him). You can almost hear the female teeny-boppers go "OOOOH!" when they see Supes in his flannel shirt; too bad that he is such a TERRIBLE actor.

To keep the young, male demographic interested, the show parades some 25 year old looking "teenage" girls around the set and has them pout their lips and whine out some insipid dialog every once in a while. Then their performance stops when Mr. Boring, the teenage Superman, starts giving the beat-down to the villian-of-the-week.

Just awful.

Summary: Good, but missing the extras
Review: SMALLVILLE is a fresh look at an American icon around since 1938. The writing is smart and sophisticated. The first season stories obviously needed a little time to develop into what is rapidly becoming an incredibly well written and well developed series.
This DVD set is an excellent transfer and has some fine extras, such as commentaries of the first two episodes and other extras. However, there are some "extras" that are simply missing and could have easily been part of the boxed set.

The previews of the next week's episode is unfortunately missing. These scenes would have made wonderful additions to the set. I originally videotaped the series from television and I will miss these teasers that are not included in the DVD.
Another major disappointment is that there are no clips or even the full show of the original pilot that was filmed before Annette OToole won the part of Martha Kent. This would have been a wonderful extra. Unfortunately, we may never experience this bonus feature.
Other than these unfortunate facts, this DVD set is outstanding and the series itself deserves great praise. I look forward to the second season and all seasons afterwards.

Review: Don't get the WB where I am at. So, this was all brand new. It was great to get this series in one big block. Same for Angel.
