Summary: Fun. Seinfeld without the males.
Review: Looking for some mindless fun? "Sex" is hard to beat. Just as "Seinfeld" captured the lives of four characters with no apparent sources of income, more time and friends than most people could expect, and an extended childhood lifestyle, "Sex and the city" offers four attractive women, little evidence of fully engaging employment, and full access to the excesses of New York. The four female leads are very attractive, each in her own partially peculiar way. Their tastes differ yet converge on men, clothes and sex, but not necessarily in that order. Are they sexy? You bet? Are they looking for husbands? It would appear so. Are they good marital prospects? I doubt it.

For any woman who dreamed of living his or her post-college days in Manhattan, this -- I can only imagine -- is the fantasy on screen. Eighteen thirty-minute episodes. Watch them all an pass on the tapes to your married friends who can't follow the schedule on HBO.

Summary: A good way to get started
Review: The reason I got the first season was because I started watching the third season on HBO and I was completely hooked. All the clothes and the fashion drove me insane. So here you can see where it all began. The first episode is very rough looking Carrie does not dress the way she does now but I really recommend it if you want to see where it all began and continue all in one sitting, thats what I did. Like the say around my way "it is truly of the hook"

Summary: Awesome present for myself..best gift ever!
Review: I love this show..I bought the first and second season and have shared with friends on our monthly "girls wine night" and we all watch and laugh. I love to watch a couple episodes after a bad day at work, it just makes me laugh and forget the idiots I was so upset about to begin with !! :) Miranda, Carrie, Samantha, and Charlotte are the best! I highly recommend this as a gift to yourself, just because, or a gift to a wonderful girlfriend!

Summary: five stars for classy ladies
Review: Come on now, is there anything better than four single, beautiful ladies, drinking cocktails and complaining about men? I indulge in Sex and the City as if it were my drug. As little girls, we all grow up planning our weddings, and hearing that we will only have worth if we find a man to take care of us. Shows like this teach us single, successful women of the new millenium that we can do much better. These sexy singles tell us how to be classy, independent ladies. After watching this(and the second season is as good, if not better), I say, who needs a man? I would much rather spend my time shopping for shoes and drinking martinis than wasting my time in a pitiful, dependent, meaningless relationship. Hallelujah ladies, our time has come.

Summary: Excellent compilation for an excellent series
Review: Sex and the City, one of the few HBO exclusive shows that I actually enjoy, is well known for its witty storylines and rich characters. Being 5 hours long, any fan of this television series would be proud to own The Complete First Season, and especially if you got into the show too late (as I did), it's nice to finally see the characters introduced. It all comes beautifully packaged, though the price could have been reduced by putting everything on one dual-sided DVD instead of two single-sided DVD's.

Summary: My complaint? It's too short!
Review: With merely twelve episodes, this set is almost as much of a tease as Mr. Big.

Discussing everything from size to shoes, from prostitution to parties, from Fendi to, uh, well, a word you can't use on Amazon, the four heorines of this HBO series are worth every penny.

Despite the fact that it's sometimes shocking, sometimes raw, sometimes just shameless, the show is hilarious and heartfelt. Carrie Bradshaw, the main character, will be familiar to women everywhere as the not-quite-secure grown woman who hangs on too hard and too long to Mr. Thinks-He's-Right, and her friends Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte are readily familiar as the ..., man-hater, and hopeless romantic respectively. We already know them, even if you've never seen the show before... buying the DVDs is like having your friends over whenever you want to dish with them.

For men, I can't imagine they wouldn't enjoy the opportunity to hear what women REALLY think, even if they're not as outspoken as this quartet.

If you buy it, I'm sure you won't regret it.

Summary: For late-season SATC addicts, a welcome collection
Review: I didn't become a SATC addict until mid-way through the second season, during the HBO re-runs, so when the first season came out on VHS, I snapped it up. I wasn't disappointed. In fact, I think the first season is the best, probably because SATC author Candace Bushnell was still working on the series at that point.
