Summary: Quit complaining, and no more worries
Review: DS9 rules. But people, please quit complaining about how it's "about time" Paramount releases this on DVD. Paramount has been AWESOME about releasing all Treks for us geeky fans. What are you guys whining about? We already got ALL TNG seasons on DVD, and they are RE-releasing special editions of ALL the original cast movies. If you want to complain about TV series taking too long for DVD release, try directing your energy towards other studios, because comparatively, Paramount has been wonderful to us! On another note, there's no need to worry about the other seasons getting released or not after this one. It's official. Paramount already is planning to release all the seasons on DVD, so you can rest easy, guys. One more thing I'd like to address: I find it odd that a couple reviewers said DS9 is the only character-driven Trek and it's the only series that got better and better with each year. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE DS9 and I watched it from the first airing of the first episode, but to say TNG didn't concentrate on the characters or get better with age like DS9 is a farce. Starting with the 3rd season of TNG especially, the show was a LOT more focused on the characters. And TNG did indeed get MUCH better with each season. I mean, come on - have you SEEN seasons 1 & 2 of TNG? HORRIBLE! 3rd, 4th, etc are great and got better each year. ANYway, enough of my ramblings. Bottom line is I'm glad DS9 is making it to DVD in 2003 and I'm glad there are so many DS9 fans out there! (I was beginning to think I was alone, hehe.)

Summary: The "Rodney Dangerfield" of Trek shows
Review: It is beyond me why this spin-off of the original Star Trek does not garner the support that it so richly deserves. The acting, the scoring, the writing, and the set designs were exemplary in every way.
Like most series, the first year allowed the show to "get its feet wet". But, one of the show's best installments in its entire seven-year run was "Duet", a two-actor tour de force from regular Nana Visitor and guest Harris Yulen. Just this episode alone is worth the purchase of the DVD compilation.

Summary: Incredible slice of Television
Review: .... It is one of the best television shows ever produced and takes Trek to a whole new level. I was never much a fan of Star Trek until this show came along. DS9 is light years ... ahead of ...Voyager and ... Enterprise. The cast was amazing & you really grew to love the characters. Much more an ensemble piece, we were not force-fed heavy "star" episodes such as TNG, Voyager .... and now Enterprise. In essence thsi show gave everyone a chance to shine..even the minor characters such as Female Founder, Weyoun, Damarr, Rom, Nog, Leeta, Vince Fontaine, Kai Winn, etc. Very strong writing and excellent story arcs. In all, this is a welcomed addition to any DVD library.

Summary: At Last! The Best Series Trek series breaks free!!
Review: True, TNG was an amazing series.. but DS9 brought depth and arcs the likes of which Trek has never seen, and will never see as long as Berman and Braga stay at the helm. Because Berman was not involved as heavily with DS9 it has been treated as some kind of ... step-child that he would just as soon erase off the face of the earth. I'm glad to see Paramount has decided to do the smart thing and release this amazing series in DVD's. Forget the VCR tapes: WAY too expensive. For the cost of 10 tapes you can get an entire series worth. Brilliant!! The series starts off with the wonderful and ground-breaking Emissary where we meet the characters that we'll grow to love over the next 7 years. After that we meet our old friends Q, Lhursa, B'etor and Vash and the series closes with the blood-churning "In The Hands of the Prophets." Forget looking for that abortion 'Voyager' and start watching real Star Trek at it's Finest! This is a great day for Star Trek fans everywhere!

Review: I recommend that you buy Seasons 4 through 7 of Deep Space Nine
on DVD. That is when Micheal Dorn AKA WORF Joined the Show.
I would Skip the Next Generation DVD sets and also buy all
Five Seasons of Babylon 5. Season 4 through 7 of Deep Space Nine thats 4 Seasons and
Season 1 through 5 of Babylon 5

Review: I love Deep Space Nine, and it feels like it took forever for Paramount to finally start putting it and TNG on DVD. I can't wait until Feb., so I can have the first complete season.

Review: I'm glad to see paramount starting to put Deep Space Nine out on DVD. In the first season we run into the Klingon renegades Lursa & B'Tor, Q and Vash (they appeared together in "Qpid" from The Next Generation - Season 4) make an appearance, and Lwaxana Troi makes a visit to the station. 1) Emissary - In the first episode, aliens inside the wormhole interrogate Sisko after being sent there by the Bajoran spiritual leader. Kira is left to deal with the Cardassian who believe that Deep Space Nine is responsible for the disappearance of one of their ships. 2) A Man Alone - Odo must prove his innocence when a known enemy of his is found murdered in a Holodeck. 3) Past Prologue - Kira is faced with a dilemma to choose between her people and her duty as a Federation officer. The crew runs into the Klingon renegades, Lursa and B'Tor. 4) Babel - Deep Space Nine is faced with a mysterious and fatal virus created by the Bajoran resistance to attack the Cardassians decades before. 5) Captive Pursuit - O'Brien and the rest of the officers are confronted with saving a life form "prey" from a life in captivity or does the prime directive apply 6) Q-Less - Q and Vash make an appearance and at the same time strange forces begin threatening the space station and Quark has a visitor from the Gamma quadrant. 7) Dax - Dax's former Trill identity is accused of a murder that was done30-years ago. Sisko defends her. 8) The Passenger - An alien criminal hides his consciousness in the brain of someone aboard the station. 9) Move Along Home - Quark's deception toward a newly encountered alien race places the space station's senior officers in a maze of danger. 10) The Nagus - The Ferengi business leader, The Nagus, makes a trip to Deep Space Nine, Quark is named leader of the Ferengi financial empire, and discovers he's now a target for death. 11) Vortex - An alien from the other side of the wormhole informs Odo he can put him in contact with other changelings. 12) Battle Lines - Sisko, Kira, and Bashir find that they are stranded on a prison colony where it is impossible to die. 13) The Storyteller - O'Brien becomes spiritual leader of a Bajoran village, not his choice, and is the only one who can save them from a destructive energy force known as the Dalrok. 14) Progress - During a mission to evacuate a moon, Kira discovers a stubborn old Bajoran farmer who refuses to leave. 15) If Wishes Were Horses - O'Brien discovers a fairy tale character has appeared in Molly's room. Review: This is just to warn you that if you have not already seen the ENTIRE DS9 series, there are comments below, presumably made made in the heat of enthusiasm, that give away many story-arc twists and developments. I missed most of DS9 after Season 3, and I unfortunately read things below that I did not know would happen. Partially ruined it for me. But it's not too late for you, if you don't want to know! So -- read them at your own risk!

Review: Before Prime Minister Rabin was assassinated, Vedek Bareil died. Before 9/11 exposed questions about intelligence failures and whether we need to be intervening through 'black ops,' DS9 introduced "In The Pale Moonight" and Section 31, as well as two memorable intelligence agents: Cardassian former spy Elim Garak and Section 31 Federation agent Luther Sloan (one of my absolute favorites!) Before the crisis in the Catholic Church...there was Ben Sisko, Emissary of the Prophets. Before Dark Angel and Alias...there was Kira Nerys, the ultimate tough cookie. Before our prejudices against Arabs...there was a vision of a non-fanatic, non-terrorist, Dr. Julian Bashir (my other favorite.) Before the war on terror, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and after the great sacrifices of WWII...there was the Dominion War. Before TV degenerated into a slough only brightened by "Law and Order" and the new Twilight Zone...there was DS9. Kristin Johnson

Summary: Deep Space Nine is the BEST!!
Review: Out of all the shows produced based on Gene's original Star Trek, Deep Space Nine would have to be the best one. The fact that it is based on a permanent space station provides it with at stable and constant story and characters. Each episode is connected with the previous and the next. Recurring characters and story lines. The whole Dominion War that covers 5 seasons is what really made the series awesome. The whole series leading up to the Dominion War and the eventual defeat of the Dominion was great. Overall you feel a great sense of family because you get to really see the characters evolve and develop more than any series. This is definately a must buy. I know I will be the first to get a copy of it. Lifetime Star Trek Fan and P.S.
The next movie needs to be a Deep Space Nine movie.
