Summary: The ratings were worse, but the stories were better
Review: Although CSI was not the #1 hit it currently is in its first season, this season set the stage. Interesting cases, pioneering special effects that suddenly took you INSIDE a murder victim's body to examine the injuries, competent acting... these all made CSI the pop-culture phenomenon it is today.

What sets this first season apart was that aside from the weekly crimes, the show actually dealt with the personal lives of the characters, and most episodes had continuing plotlines which were separate from the "crimes-of-the-night": Catherine had her child custody issues with her ex, Nick had his complicated relationship with a hooker, Sara had to deal with being the new person on the team, Warrick had his gambling problem/corrupt judge subplot, and Grissom had his romance with "face lady", his rivalry with the daytime CSI team's chief, and his professional problems with the sheriff and the mayor.

Such subplots vanished in season two - Catherine suddenly appeared as if she had no family, Grissom became a complete eunuch, as did Nick, who never had another girlfriend. But the ratings improved, so I guess that's what people prefer - a more classic, completely episodic crime series without the continuing subplots that give it a soap-like quality.

But for me, I miss those subplots, which is why I think this first season of CSI is a must-have on DVD. It was CSI at its best.

Summary: Fantastic !
Review: I am a keen fan of American shows (and Las Vegas !) and this has to rate as one of the best and most interesting to come to our shores in a long time. Storylines are believable and the methods of detection fascinating. Brilliant cast.

Summary: One Classic Show in the making!
Review: I cannot believe you guys are so far behind with the DVD's anyway, you gave us this great show which has everything!

Starts with the sound pilot and never stops. There are some classics from Blood Drops, the interplay in Anonymous which was hilarious, the unsurpasable Unfriendly Skies which makes you think and gives the actors some light relif and great character insight as well. Then in the second half you have Boom, talk about a morning after!

Table Stakes with Greg stealing the show and having by far the funniest on screen moment of the show yet! & to finish it of Strip Strangler, which gives the best and worst of each character and all that makes this show so good and so chilling.

Great backdrop with las vegas and those mountains, nice cinmatography and superb story lines. However it is down to the cast in the end, who give humour to the darkness and the on screen chemistry is great - relationships everywhere.

With Grissom & Catherine at the helm this show could do no wrong but add the cool Warrick, the sometimes outspoken Sara & the gorgeous sometimes vulnerable Nick Stokes (need I say more!) as the humanity check then this show works on all levels.

Also very pleased to see both George Eads and Jorja Fox who have made huge impressions as guest characters on shows such as er, to finely get the chance to shine here and get there merits, the show just would not work without them. This show has outdone the mighty er & this first season makes it easy to see why, not for the faint hearted but the DVD is great & nice bonus features as well. When is season 2 available!

Summary: Simply the best.. PLEASE release it!!!
Review: This is simply the best series I have ever seen. I watch it religiously and cannot believe they havent released the 1st season yet. I do think it was a bit too early to split off into Miami (I'm a diehard of the original cast) but hey, maybe it will attract another crowd.

For the younger generations, this is new and fresh, some of the best TV out there... for the older generations its a new embodiment of the Agatha Christie/Murder She Wrote followers with a technological spin.

PLEASE release the DVDs already, with the following that CSI has, they would sell like mad!

Summary: PLEASE RELEASE ALL EPISODES EVER MADE! quick!
Review: I just found this amazing show this year. Luckily, actually since I have Tivo and can have my recorder tape the show every time it comes on, every time, every channel, I can watch episodes from current and past seasons. I look forward to watching this show so much its ridiculous. I am completely absorbed into the actors, the plots and the verbage. Gosh I even knew the next thing one guy was gonna go get was a GSR kit! That shows you just how engrossing this series can be. I have also started watching the CSI Miami, its good too, but its too bad that 2 of the best actors on it couldn't have worked out their
differences for the sake of the show, but "Meghan" decided to walk, and left us feeling the loss of her. I want this series on DVD more than any other (since Stargate). I hope that since 24 and The Shield have made it to DVD so fast, that someone who makes these decisions will 'get a clue' and give us what we want! After all, they hold all the cards when it comes to what goes to DVD and what doesn't. Amazon says they will pass our pleas onto those that could release CSI. Well, heres my heartfelt hope that all episodes from past seasons( 2000 and 2001 right?) and this 2002 season will be available to buy a.s.a.p.(not years and years of waiting like I've been doing for Stargate). Till then, I'll pray to the Tivo god to keep on recording and recording and recording!. Trish
