Summary: "Sex and the City"- The Complete Second Season
Review: Needless to say, this television series from HBO is indeed the kind of show that all women today need to watch. So many years ago, a woman who was single and in her thirties was considered a spinster. Thank God, society realized that there is so much more to a woman than her single state. As these four women, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarak Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Catrall), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), and Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon), prove time and again that women in their thirties have much more fun than they ever did before, the show just keeps getting better and better. Everywhere I look, "Sex and the City" just keeps popping into my mind whenever a relationship is on display in public places. For example, the questions that Carrie poses in the episodes are important things to remember when one's in a relationship or not. During the episode of "They Shoot Single People, Don't They?", I got started thinking on the age old question of why it has always been mainly considered wrong for a woman to be single, unless she was a nun. This episode said there's absolutely nothing wrong with being single at all. In the last episode, "Ex and the City", I watched Carrie and Mr. Big (Chris Noth) part on sad terms. It was just so pathetic to see that Mr. Big couldn't commit to Carrie but he certainly could commit to another woman. This episode once again helped us many broken hearted people to realize that when a relationship has ended for the first and second times or more, there's nothing wrong with being friendly to your ex. Why do people feel a need to stop seeing their ex all together? It's a stupid idea. Each of the characters portray a different kind of woman, the common kind. Charlotte, as the Pollyanna of the group, just wants her Prince Charming. Nothing wrong with that. Alot of "religious" people would think that Charlotte's a harlot just because she chooses to have sex outside of marriage with whoever she pleases. But, although some reviewers have said that Kristin Davis's character is a prude, they haven't said she's an iceberg. Big difference. Thank goodness, that Charlotte isn't an iceberg or the show wouldn't even be as half as exciting if she was. Out of all of the characters, Carrie's my favorite because she's the writer. And I love to write. Without her daring questions, habitual pacing when she's thinking about writing her article, or her deep love for Mr. Big, she would be boring, lifeless. But, Sarah Jessica Parker makes a great Carrie Bradshaw. She's not a prude, or an iceberg, or dumb. Sarah Jessica Parker makes me want to think that being single and successful and smart and beautiful isn't a curse. Miranda Hobbs, played by Cynthia Nixon, is not that cynical as everyone likes to think she is. Yeah, she wants her dream man but she doesn't want to make it her obession. She's the most daring of the women when it comes to who she dates. She doesn't think that a man should be a certain way, like Charlotte. She doesn't think that one man should hold her interest, like Carrie. She doesn't think that she should be sleeping with every man, like Samantha. Cynthia Nixon's character shows us that you can be a woman who doesn't have to be pushed around by others and still be considered an interesting person. Kim Catrall's Samantha Jones controls every situation she's in with experience and charm. She's the sexiest of the group. She's so promiscious and there's nothing wrong with that, especially if that's your happiness. "Religious" people would consider her the Devil herself just because she doesn't let any conventions stand in her way of doing what she wants to do. Samantha basically has "Lover of Sex" branded on her forehead, which is so endearing. Samantha proves to us time and time again that women can certainly use their sexuality to their best advantages. Four women and Manhattan, what a terrific combination. "Sex and the City"- The Complete Second Season was just as good as the first season. I just hope that HBO would hopefully soon release the third season. I just wish that I had HBO. Please, please, please, people make a habit to watch "Sex and the City".

Summary: Darker and grittier than the first season but still great
Review: As you all know by now, Sex and the City is simply a great show. I think of the show as a hybrid reality TV show/sitcom; it looks more realistic (since it's shot in NYC rather than in sets) and it deals with subject matter that seems very real compared to the modern fantasy that is the staple of contemporary sitcoms. I really enjoyed the first season's episodes. They were light, fresh, and upbeat. The second season is, however, quite different from the first. While the first season dealt mainly with the glamorous aspects of the fast lives of eligible single women in a big city, the second season deals with the dark underside of this kind of life: relationships with creepy men, a hard breakup with a longtime lover, fetishes, confronting past loves, and more. I don't think I enjoyed the second season as much as the first, but Sex and the City is still the best stuff on television (and now DVD) at the moment. Check it out.

Review: Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda are even more Fabulous this year than the first season. There are four more episodes this season and more spectacular fashions. Every episode seems to be smarter and sexier than the last.

Summary: Definite Must See!
Review: Believe me when I say that the Second Season is definitely better than the First. In the Second Season, the relationship between Carrie and Mr. Big gains depth and develops exquisitly, as the relationship dance between wild Carrie and the oh-so-proper Mr. Big takes us to places that are both frustrating, agonizing and touching. The surprise ending in the last episode between the two on and off lovers is not to be missed. Also not to be missed is how Miranda's relationship with a member of the "working class" is played out; in these scenes, we have an opportunity see the softer, sensitive side of Miranda that is rarely seen. Meanwhile, Charlotte and Samatha's relationships provide comic relief, with many sex scenes that are not to be believed. This DVD is a definite must see.

Summary: Keeps getting better
Review: I adore this show. I have watched every episode since it began on HBO, and cannot wait for each Sunday to watch these 4 woman share their experiences. I own the first season which was great, but not enough. I couldn't wait for season 2 to come out on DVD so I can watch it over and over again. Season 4 just started last night, and it shows tremendous promise to be a very funny season.

Review: I'm sorry to be a killjoy, but I do not feel that this show is good. The fact that it has received so much critical praise is a sad testimony to how low our standards have become. What we have here is a supposedly "sharp" show (read: "pretentious"), about surprise, sex. I don't know if this premise is meant to be shocking. It probably should be, but as we have no shame whatsoever these days, it isn't. It takes place among a bunch of young, quasi-hip city dwellers, just like, oh I don't know, EVERY OTHER SHOW PRODUCED IN THE LAST TWENTY YEARS. To this day I don't understand why this group is targeted as the only demographic worth a hoot in America. In short, there is a paucity of originality in this glorified soap opera that is staggering. Are we supposed to identify with these uptight sex-mad people? If we do, there is something seriously wrong with the way we live our lives. How many sex jokes can you stand? People praise the show for its mature writing. I beg to differ. Works of literature contain mature writing, even the bawdy ones. This television show is asinine.

Summary: Do Real Women Live Like This? No... but Vive la Difference!
Review: Each episode of this series is a delighfully scandalous surprise. Season Two does the almost impossible in maintaining the consistently vigorous momentum of Season One. Carrie and Mr. Big, plus Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha (with associated paramours) return with a vengence in this second season reprise. As an almost-30 year old "married lady," I confess that neither I nor my friends behave or prioritize like Carrie and her chums... but issues-wise, this show nails womanhood more squarely than Samantha does an eligible man. Therefore, in Season Two, we root for Miranda to overcome her wariness of men to discover their redeeming qualities... we wish Mr. Big would lighten up on his commitment phobia as we wish Carrie would grow some self confidence... we wish Charlotte would find the traditional man she wants at heart... and we wish Samantha would keep her clothes on long enough to learn than men are more than foreign objects capable of pleasure but incapable of intelligent conversation or mental stimulation. In the meantime, it's almost as though I hope these ladies DON'T overcome their neuroses... they do indeed express, albeit in a hyperbolic and thoroughly enjoyable comedic form, the primary issues in the minds of contemporary women, even if, as I already said, most contemporary women don't behave as these characters do. Try this series out. I guarantee you'll laugh.

Review: I had bought the first season and now the second. I found the second season more explicit than the first.. but still on the mark... It dealt with issues that are true to late 20 somethings and 30 somethings in any city.. The video clarity was very good as was the sound. This was improved over the First Season. (VHS version).. A great deal.. this series is made up of 18 episodes and is much cheaper than HBO..

Review: The second season of Sex and the City even tops the first! The writing is genious with witty inuendos, clever themes, suprising cross-overs, and heartfelt drama. The casting is perfect and the actors are always right on the mark. BRAVO!
