Summary: EMMY for Mulgrew
Review: I always laughed at the treekies & trekkers whenever I visited the States. I was NEVER a Star Trek Fan. But when I chanced upon a 1:00AM show of Voyager during my visit to DC, I was hooked instantly, Kate Mulgrew's acting prowess is incredible. In all my years of watching TV, never has a show or acting moved since I watched the episode the 37s,nearing the endpart where Janeway went to Cargo Bay 2, her acting was ! (no words could describe it) It was like having a golf ball down my throat. After that I got hooked to Voyager because of the Captain, because of Kate Mulgrew's acting. Not that the others were bad, she stood out more than the rest. The characters and storylines of Voyager was better than the other Star Trek series or movies. I cannot say for the recent Enterprise (I haven't seen it) but Voyager has kept me coming back for reruns. I have taped their series and have bought quite a few vhs tapes here in amazon.com ..., but I still would like the pinnacle of my collection to be in DVD format. Scrap out DS9. Focus on Voyager first! And to think Genevieve Bujold was their first choice for Janeway...Uugh!

Summary: It's all in the characters...
Review: As someone who's watched virtually all of the TNG, DS9, VOY episodes as well as some of the TOS and ENT. A lovable crew is what makes for a lovable TV series. And a well-developed crew is a lovable crew. In that respect, TNG and DS9 concluded with me shedding tears because the viewer is given a sense of getting to know the crew. Enterprise? Heck no. Voyager? Not as bad, but, still, no. Why do I say this? Read on...

-Janeway: My goodness, does she ever lighten up? Yes, yes, morals. Voyager has morals. Voyager has principles. But her blind, rigid, uncompromising cling to her principles is sickening. Picard and Sisko cherish the principles, but they are also human, and they know when they need to bend them, and they also appear to be more realistic characters when you see them struggling as they are torn between principles and something else. Janeway? She just flat-out says no without even thinking. Until the very end with Admiral Janeway. As a result, Janeway's character lacks a certain dimension. People complain about Picard because he's too rigid and un-Kirk-like. Well, Janeway's even worse. Remember "Tapestry" from TNG when Picard dies and Q gives him the chance to change his life? We saw there that what makes a man isn't a straight unrelenting following of Starfleet regulations.
-Chakotay: He's spineless! Nothing more than Janeway's yes-man. You hardly see any character development in him, as he spends all his time in Janeway's shadow. Kira was strong, defiant, and powerful. Riker sorta fell into the same trap as Chakotay, but not nearly as much.
-Doctor: Okay, I take back what I said about Janeway being smug. His arrogance and gross sense of self-righteousness gets on my nerves. And what's this about an AI-doctor? He's just a doctor. Just a holographic program. Since when do holographic programs exceed what a horribly complex android (Data) built by the best artificial intelligence expert? Data's growth into humanity is more realistic and more lovable. The doctor's growth into humanity is vain and unrealistic (this HOLOGRAM is showing more intelligence and more humanity than Data?!)
-Torres: What makes an engineer likeable as a character is when s/he starts to do "miracle work." Like Scotty. And O'Brien. And to a very limited extent, Geordi (not surprisingly, he's one of TNG's weak characters). With Torres, we see her spending more time complaining than engineering. Ugh.
-Paris: He's actually rather likeable. Except this whole Captain Chaotica thing. Er, hello?
-Kes: Ehhh. She never played a big role. Didn't stick around long enough for people to know her. Overall, she's unknown. We don't really see her grow that much.
-Seven: She's there for the sex appeal. And what a way to highlight it by giving her the skin-tight suits. Ugh. It'd help to see her as a character and not as eye candy. I got peeved at that. Her humanity development is much much better than the doctor's. It's likeable, though not quite in the same way as Data's, as Data has this child-like innocence and naiveness to it. Nevertheless, as a character, she's likeable.
-Kim: First, shouldn't he be promoted to lieutenant by now? Second, what the bloody hell is an ensign doing as a *senior officer*?! Okay, those are technicalties. He's character is too cookie-cutter: straight-shooting by-the-book eager-to-please run-of-the-mill Starfleet officer. All that we know is that he wants to get home more than anyone else. That's sad that's the extent to which his character developed. In that respect, he's no better than Chakotay, who was also weak and spineless.
-Neelix: He gets really sappy, really annoying, really quickly.
-Tuvok: Every show needs the logical guy. Compared to Spock, Tuvok is more pedantic and by-the-book (hmm, Janeway, Kim, gee, do we see a pattern here? how about a more daring crew??). Spock benefitted from being half-human, and it showed. Tuvok is Spock minus the quirks that made Spock loveable. Data had his innocent "growing up" and cute attempts to become more human. DS9 didn't really have a logical character, except for Odo, who we found out to be deeply emotional on the inside, and who values principles but also at the same time has a very healthy dose of pragmatism.

Summary: THE PINNACLE OF STAR TREK
Review: I am no avid fan of the older versions of Star Trek. It was definitely boring and predictable and it was never exciting. Im sorry for Capt. Kirk and Capt.Picard, they could have been directed and scripted better. It was some time last year when the series was first shown here in the Philippines under the Hallmark Channel. I browsed over Star Trek Voyager while looking for something intersting at 7pm other than the usual soap opera on Philippine TV. I thought it was the same old Star Trek stuff, but boy i ended up glued to Voyager every night and would have nightmares when i miss one episode. I am still watching on the TV for the second time around and it has never bored me a bit. For one the characterization is just perfect. Voyagers Crew are not oscar awardees but they definitely are cut for the oscars for me. The script is well done and the technological aspect is sound and logical. The Ship's design and schematics is just perfect and the episodes are very interesting and truer than life. All i can say is that this is how they ought to make sci-fi movies and i could say it is better than star wars. I believe that in the long years of star trek series they have come so far to perfection in Voyager. This is the refinement of the many preceeding star treks. I congratulate the script writer, director and all of this series. And to Capt. Kathryn Janeway, I salute you, your acting is impeccable and welcome back to the alpha quadrant.

Summary: Voyager is Awesome
Review: I'm not a huge fan of Star Trek, I only have the whole Next Gen series and am getting all of Voyager. Voyager really amazed a huge amount of people when it aired. They thought that a female captain would never work. Well, its been the best series I've seen in a long time. It didn't stick to the ancient Trek premisses. It boldly went where no Star Trek has gone before (I know it was a cheesy line, but couldn't resist). Being so far from home gave them the room they needed to really do anything they wanted, and they did. Where else are you going to find a Borg crewmemeber (a totally hot one at that), or a pilot who was busted out of prison? That's why I give Voyager 5 stars.

Summary: My Favorite
Review: Personally, I think Star Trek Voyager was one of the best treks ever put out. It was more like TOS than any other series. Out there by itself trying to make its way back home. Maquis and Federation stuck together trying to make the best of it. New interesting aliens. The Kazon, Ocampa, Vidiians, and even though they weren't original, the Borg. Voyager allowed us to see more into the Borg than anything else. I'd buy every season in a heartbeat. To watch Janeway, Chakotay, Tuvok, B'elanna, Paris, Harry, Neelix, Seven, and Kes all over again.

Summary: I hate to admit it, but...
Review: ... I never really have been a big fan of Star Trek, or of the Next Generation, or of the science fiction genre in general (heck, I've never even bothered to watch an episode of Deep Space Nine, Enterprise, or any of the recent movies - although I do think Patrick Stewart is one of the greatest Shakespearean actors of all time, but I digress). So, what on Earth am I doing giving this series five stars? Several years ago, my sister, who is a bit of a sci-fi dork (sorry; I'm probably ticking off everybody reading this by this point), forced me to watch an episode of this, and I was immediately sucked in. Star Trek: Voyager is, put bluntly, an astonishingly well written and well acted television show. Of course, the other Star Trek shows have the same heavily cerebral components to them, but this one in particular has, for lack of a better term, an emotional intelligence that blows away, not only the other Star Trek permutations I've seen, but most anything you can find on TV. Now that it is only in syndication (I try to catch re-runs at ridiculously late hours when I can, which unfortunately isn't very often), I am hoping that this series will be released to DVD and/or VHS sometime soon.

Summary: A Different Kind of Star Trek
Review: Fans of Star Trek DS9, TNG etc. dislike Voyager with a passion, I don't know why. It's possibly because Voyager is a different kind of Star Trek, comparing Voyager and TNG is like comparing apples and oranges, they're two different series and two different types of Star Trek. I don't know how to compare and contrast them, but a common theme among Voyager fans is that they are fans of Enterprise too (the latest Star Trek series).

Anyways, I enjoy Voyager very much. I started to watch it after I started watching Enterprise (since the first Episode) and I'm now hooked. I stay up to 12:30am to watch it on UPN! People say Janeway plays a bad captain, but I disagree... she is a wonderful actress and I love how she interacts with the crew, especially 7 of 9. I can't wait until this DVD comes out, definatly a must have for Voyager fans!

Summary: Best Star Trek series ever
Review: I have long been a Star Trek fan--even the often misunderstood DS9--and had a wonderful relationship with TNG, but this is, by far, my favorite of all the series.

I was a little nervous about the series when it premiered, because I missed having TNG around, but from the first episode the new series captured my attention and I found myself eagerly awaiting new episodes.

Perhaps the best thing about the series was the different direction the creators took with the series. It opened the series to many different options for storylines, with characters that had great personalities with which to work.

Although I know there is a process to releasing the series on DVD, I can't wait until it is available. It will definitely be worth the cost!

Summary: I'D GIVE STAR TREK VOYAGER 10 STARS. I WOULD PAY ALOT FOR IT
Review: STAR TREK: VOYAGER IS MY FAVORITE STAR TREK BECAUSE IT IS ADVENTUROUS. ALSO BECAUSE IT IS THE FIRST TREK THAT HAS A REAL STORY LINE THAT IS THERE TRYING TO GET HOME. IF THIS CAME OUT ON DVD I'D PAY $150 FOR EACH ONE THAT IS HOW MUCH I WANT IT. I LOVE STAR TREK IT IS WHAT I WANT THE FUTURE TO BE LIKE. THE ORIGINAL WAS A GREAT STAR TREK IT WAS ACTUALLY LIKE GOING OUT IN THE UNKNOWN. STAR TREK: TNG WAS A GOOD SHOW IT WAS ACTUALLY LIKE AN ESCORT SHIP AND THEY NEVER FOUGHT. ENTERPRISE I HATE IT, IT IS SO STUPID BECAUSE THEY MESS UP THE TIME LINE ALSO SAYING THAT THEY ARE THE FIRST ENTERPRISE. ST:DS9 WAS LIKE A SOUP OPERA BUT, THEN THEY HAD EVERYTHING, A WORMHOLE AND A FIGHT SHIPING SHIP WHERE DID IT ALL COME FROM . ST:VOYAGER HAD THE BEST CREW ALSO INTERGRATED WITH TWO CREWS. FACING ALL ODDS PLACED BEFORE THEM A GREAT STORY. THIS SHOULD BE PUT ON DVD LIKE THE REST OF THE FRANCHISE. PLEASE, LOTS OF PEOPLE WANT THIS ITEM ON THEIR SHELVES.
