Summary: The Star Trek of the 21st Century
Review: I have already pre-ordered Stargate SG1-Season 3 Boxed Set because I find this sci-fi adventure series to be the best sci-fi series since the original Star Trek series of the 1960's. Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not a Trekkie or one who attends conventions. However I do enjoy well written and well acted science-fiction and Stargate SG1 is such a series. I already own the first 2 boxed season series collections and what makes this series so great is the writing and the characters themselves. The stories are smart and thought provoking and are not overwhelmed with special effects but add only enough special effects to enhance the stories themselves. The characters, like in the original Star Trek series are written to be loyal, likeable and honorable friends willing to lay down their lives for what is morally right and true as well as for each other, values that have seemed to long disappear in most television series today. Richard Dean Anderson,(formerly of Macyver), Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge and Don S.Davis have great chemistry as they work together to solve problems in a very real and human way, with both a dramatic and humorous sensibilty to whatever confronts them in each episode. Jonathan Glassner and Brad Wright, who are the executive producers and the ones who developed Stargate for television have seemed to capture the "Gene Roddenberry" magic with stories that draw the viewer in with characters that seem real and honest. If you enjoy well written sci-fi stories with characters that seem very real, very human and people you find to be extremely likeable, then Stargate SG1 is a series you will definitly enjoy.

Summary: StarGate SG-1 Season 3: It's about time.
Review: I have been waiting for months... And now I get a chance to pre-order this great season. This is where the action gets intense. As you all know; season 2 left off with Hathor about to implant one of the members of SG-1 with a Goa'uld. For those of you just waiting to see the conclusion, you'll find it very action packed with a good story to go with it. As this season progresses, you will see further development on the story of Dr. Jackson and his wife Shaur'e. It will feature much of Daniel Jackson. You will get over 25 hours of media from this boxed set. There are usually 5 episodes per disc and 5 discs. It will also have bonus material: featurettes and episode previews. This, with the first two seasons is in my top pick list. So pick up a copy on Amazon.com and get ready for a great action/sci-fi adventure!

Summary: great series; not so great dvd pakage
Review: I love this series, the concept, the plot, the characters and their interaction with one another; I LOVE this series... However, while I desire to add all seasons to my dvd collection it's BULKY pakaging and few extras features have yet to convince me. These (3 so far) dvd boxed sets are well deserving of their name. Instead of following suit such as Fox's X-files pakaging and Paramount's ST: DS9 which are compact and collect one whole season, MGM released the first season in five separate dvd's, each consisting of about four episodes and title vol. 1-5. When that didn't work out as well as the studio hoped and they recongnized that customers and fans alike preferred each season in its entirety rather than designing a new, better, compact pakaging method they wrapped the previously released vol. 1-5 in a BOX. They have also done the same with season 2 and 3. I hope that one day the see the errors of their ways and reoffer this great series in a better pakaging format so that I can then buy them.

Summary: Third time's the charm
Review: I wasn't much of a fan of the first season of SG-1. It seemed deriviative and the writing was frequently weak. Given that it was the first season and the writers had yet to find their footing (a problem that dogged Star Trek: The Next Generation, Farscape, Babyon 5, Deep Space 9 and The Dead Zone as well). I decided to keep watching just in case it improved. It did. By the middle of the second season the characters were better written and the overall feel was that the producers knew where the series was going.

By season 3 Sg-1 Began to hit its stride. Although the silly episodes (not in a good way--I'm referring to Spock's Brain silly here folks, i.e., incompetant) had given way to sharp writing, and some really strong performances particularly from Richard Dean Anderson.

While this boxset could have more in the way of extras, it beats many of the other boxed sets simply because its affordably priced and well produced. The transfers vary from good to very good and the generaly sound quality is also strong. While there are still occasional clunkers mixed in with many of these gems, they are fewer and far between compared to season 1 and season 2.

Summary: Not much to review -- Stargate rocks!
Review: I've already seen all Stargate episodes more times than I can count... these are for my collection. In this season my favorite has to be "Urgo".

I really want either the original movie redone with this cast, or a movie to wrap up this show before they decide to end it.

Summary: Very good, better than just about anything on TV
Review: If a person wants some pretty good TV science fiction, the Stargate series has always been a good choice with the third season being no exception.
The alien worlds SG-1 visits each week do have a Canadian look to them that can't be helped, that's where it's filmed, but for action adventure I think you'll find it to be really pretty good.
There's a wide variety of stories for you to choose from, something will be good to anyone who likes scifi with some gunplay. I personally liked #1 Into the Fire, #2 Seth, #4 Point of View,#12 Foothold,#15 A Hundred Days, #17 New Ground. Most of the others had their good points too, how many series are that strong in quality?
The featurettes are done in a different style with this box set with Don Davis and/or Teryl Rothery in character on the SG-1 set speaking to the camera as if the viewer is someone invited to look over some computer file or do some research, when the segment is done they invite you to leave. The format is a little silly but the featurettes are interesting.

Summary: A Must Have
Review: If you have season 1 and 2 you must buy season 3!

Summary: Together Again?
Review: In an AU, Jack and Sam are either married or engaged. Why can't it happen in their reality? Good season though.
