Review: Do I really have to say it? This is the best tv show ever made. Forget that, this is the best thing ever recorded on film. I bought the first and second seasons without ever seeing an episode, and I ended up watching all 26 episodes (about 26 hours, mind you) in less than a week. And I have a life! It's that good. I must admit - I enjoyed the Godfather series and Goodfellas was a classic...but still none of them compare to a season of the Sopranos. The show has intelligence, humor, and a perfect amount of violence and sex that makes it realistic without making those things the focus. My mother hates violence and mafia movies. She watched five episodes in a row. I have skipped classes in college and showed up late for work because I didn't want to turn off the tv. From the opening theme song and camera shots of north jersey to the final credits, you CAN NOT stop watching. Every single episode is exciting and I guarantee you can't just watch one. The only thing I would warn about is that, even though it shows the downside, this show WILL make you consider a life of crime.

Summary: 2nd TIME AROUND
Review: The first season moved at such a breakneck pace that it was only natural to wonder if and when the series would tank. The only clunker in the mix (FROM WHERE TO ETERNITY) is easily overlooked by THE HAPPY WANDERER, the David Lynch inspired finale and the epitome of evil, Richie Apriel, played for all its worth by David Proval. A few great plot twists, an outstanding soundtrack (where else can Sinatra's version of BAUBLES, BANGLES AND BEEDS be inconized) and the trademark superior performances of Gandolfini (Best Actor Emmy), Falco and Braco make the series just as good the second time around.

Review: The Sopranos is just the best television series that i have ever seen. I dont see how anyone can give this a bad rating, just simply the best. Great Acting, Great Action.... keeps you glued to your seat through the entire episodes. Keep up the good work

Summary: Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!
Review: Before I purchased season 1 of the Sopranos, I read a lot of people reviews saying the first season was the best. Well, I don't agree. IMHO, I think season #2 is much better. Less Mama Soprano, which I think is better. Hearing her complain and whine all the time almost had me looking for a shrink so I can discuss why she annoys me. Less visits to the shrink's office by Tony and more action. More La Cosa Nostra type stuff. More about Tony's crew. The additions of Richie and Furio was nice. I even started to like Uncle Junior in the second season. Great series and a great set.

Summary: Bada Bing...Soprano's is the top of the DVD's best
Review: HBO had tremendous insight in developing and running with the Soprano's series. They have attempted to coat-tail their success with "Sex and the City" and "Six Feet", but have not created the buzz and success of this high-quality, well-written series. If you liked the first season, you will love the second. If you haven't seen it, you'll still love it. The storylines are great, the characters are endearing and the acting is superior to most of what passes for film these days. James Gandolfini is awesome and the supporting cast can all act well. Great show! Don't miss the third season in its DVD release or the 4th and possible last season, beginning in Sept. 2002.

Summary: An intriguing look into the mind of the mob...
Review: David Chase's series "The Sopranos" is a fascinating portrayal of the complex allegiances and contrasting values of a mobster struggling to cope with the challenges of his two families- his biological family, and his crime family.The series is powerfully entertaining, and also explores the dark side of the human psyche as seen through the eyes of Tony Soprano and the other richly developed characters in the show. The second season, in my opinion is clearly the best one thus far because of the new developments in the storyline and all the tensions coming to the forefront. This is particularly true of Tony's conflictual relationship with his mother, his struggle to keep Uncle Junior under his thumb (while maintaining his "stripes" as the de facto boss); in addition to new challenges with his biological family. Also, these 13 episodes are well-written, acted and skillfully directed. The sessions with Dr. Melfi (his psychiatrist) are seamlessly woven into the other plot developments, as well as the rich dream and fantasy sequences that delve into Tony's thought process, as well as his anxieties, both conscious and unconscious. David Chase has put together a real gem. If you can't catch the re-broadcast on HBO on Sundays at 8, or you just want the high quality of DVD, pick this one up. It's a real thrill-ride...and it will definitely make you think, and see things from a different perspective.

Review: Join Tony Soprano and view the world of this Mob Boss in NJ. See what he has to put up with and how he has to keep from getting busted by the FBI (Who watch him constantly). From his psychatrists visits to the Badda-Bing, you'll see all your favorite characters. I bought this and the price is good for one whole series which is winning awards left and right. So go out and rent if your not sure but after watching it you'll wanna be part of Tony's family !!!!!

Summary: The Sopranos lives up to the hype
Review: Many people will say the 2nd season of The Sopranos is no where near as good as the first, true the first season had the struggle between Tony and his mother, but in the second season many of the secondary characters evolve. All the questions from the first seasons are anwsered, what happened to Livia is she dead or still alive and smiling, and we finally find out where the hell was Big Pussy. From the season premere to the finale Sorpanos Season 2 delivers. Do yourself a favor buy this set, and sit back and watch one hell of a show.

Summary: Seconds, Please
Review: Well finally Season two.... on something better than a 320x240 vcd. Us poor Canadians aren't privied to much better until earlier this month when it finally hit tv. Anyway a buddy of mine (who works at an undisclosed rental place *cough*blockbuster*cough*) managed to get ahold of a screener copy of this boxset dvd. I didn't have the fancy packaging of the 1st set but then again it was screener. Anyway the comentaries are good (from the 4 I listened to I'd put them on par or slightly better then the 1st's) and the featrettes are a addition nice going further into the directors motives and thoughts behind the show (although I have to say it wasn't as interesting as the 1st's) the second featrette was with Gandolfini and this I must say is worth a large peice of the $75 price tag in and of itself. Although my buddy had mentioned that HBO had talked of editting and shortening the interveiw with Gandolfini in the final version. Well besides that it's definately worth it just for the pic and story quality but remember I'm reviewing the screener and not the final product so things could change (it could get better)

Summary: The Sopranos - The Complete Second Season
Review: I have just viewed the first few episodes of the 2nd season DVD set and am again bowled over by the picture and sound clarity. The wide screen is also impressive. The documentary extras are great but it is ashame that there isn't more to look at. I guess what I am looking for are insights into what makes the programs so great. I wonder if the real problem is matching the incredibly high quality of the program with high quality documentaries. They matched the quality successfully but at the expense of quantity. The Sopranos and DVD just go as well together as Gladiator and DVD. And the picture is so much clearer than when I watched the program on television. I'm not sure why the show is so good because when I watch it, everything seems so wrong and yet so right at the same time. I don't even like gangster films and am horrified by much of the subject matter, but find myself idolising Tony Soprano. Is there something wrong with that? When I am finished viewing the second set, I'm just going right back to the start of Series One again to see if I can get to the bottom of why I am so fascinated with this show.
