Summary: A-Sitting-On-The-Edge-Of-Your-Chair-Movie
Review: This is one of the best Star Trek movies I've ever seen! Star Trek First Contact has you sitting on the edge of your chair from the begianing to the end! Anyone who liked the origial Star Trek crew(Kirk, Spock, Bones,....) or the Star Trek: TNG TV series will love this movie!

Summary: Stewart Shines Again
Review: Patrick Stewart is one actor that gets too little recognition. In Star Trek 8, Stewart manages a huge array of acting abilities and emotions. His portrayal as a man enraged by his past keeps you riveted to the screen.

Brent Spiner as Data is effective as always. The Borg Queen is amazing at her seduction of Data. The story is thick with many details and keeps you guessing at every turn.

The direction by Frakes is much cleaner than the next in the series. There are less "soap opera-ish" lines and scenes in this one.

I am pleased to recommend this movie as the best in the Star Trek Series.

Summary: A split movie
Review: I found this move really entertaining. It kept me interested until the end, and it was mysteriously creepy for a Star Trek film - Picard and crew walking amongst the Borg was nail biting stuff. However, the ground plot was boring, but necessary. Perhaps it was the characters on the ground. The Borg's costumes aren't as good as they are in ST:Voyager.

All in all, I can recommend this movie to any science fiction fan, and also to anyone that likes a bit of suspense.

Summary: 8th times a charm
Review: star trek 8: first contact has to be without a doubt the best of the star trek series. finally you get to relive the excitement that you had when you watched the two part episode "best of both worlds". the borg are back for some more in this excellent movie. everything shines here, great special effects, excellent story, awesome special effects, great acting, and excellent special effects. if you havent seen this movie, you are not a trekkie.

Summary: Excellent even for non-Trekies
Review: This is a superb movie I can watch again and again. The plot is thick, action intense and the special effects are terrific. One reviewer (styx from a warm place) said that the plot was full of holes but styx is wrong! When the Enterprise is going back in time they see the Earth populated by Borg, then they CONTINUE to go back in time to years BEFORE that happened. That is when the away team transports to the surface. Maybe you should turn the volume up next time...

Summary: The villains are more interesting than the heroes.
Review: It seems at times that the Star Trek franchise is getting tired. The stories are becoming lengthy, (or the pacing is too slow). Here is a convoluted plot with stock characters. Unfortunately, the cardboard cut-outs come from the crew of the Enterprise. The supporting cast seems to walk through this story as if they're just as disinterested in the action on Earth (of past) as we are. Also, there was no real sense of imminent danger and an urgent need to get that ship off the ground. (Which leads to another issue--how much can a Starfleet Captain break the rules of the Prime Directive. It always seems to change with each movie and tv episode. Whatever's convenient to give Starfleet the upper hand.)

The real thrill ride comes from what goes on up in the skies on the Enterprise! The fear and hatred that Picard has for the assimilating Borg is exciting. Alice Krige is AMAZING as the Borg queen--seductive and grotesque at the same time. Who knew? The meancing Borge gives us the real sense of danger and suspense, as with each scene they get dangerously close to taking over the ship and conquering. Perhaps this contributes to the failure of the second half of the storyline? With the great story and plot devices occurring up in the stars, it's a let down every time the film cuts to the goings on down on the Earth's surface. It could be a problem of the director's (Jonathan Frakes) editing choice, or a problem with the screenplay. The viewer gets the feeling that the parallel plot is just an excuse to get the rest of the actors involved in the movie.

In terms of special effects, this one is amazing. They just keep getting better and better. This is definitely a worth seeing, if not for Alice Krige and her attempts at seductively taunting Data.

Summary: First Contact. Better than the last, better than the next !
Review: Star Trek : First Contact is, in my opinion, the best of the Star Wars - Next Genration movies.

It has great special effects, great sound effects, great story line, and the intro-music is my favourite of all the Star Trek music I've heard!

Although the basic idea of the Borg was altered significantly, it was a good change, so it doesn't lower my opinion at all.

Summary, you ask ? WATCH IT!

Summary: How about some extras Paramount!
Review: Come on Paramount, give us some extras on DVD-interviews,documentaries,TV spots, deleted scenes, the soundtrack etc. The Matrix,Contact and Shakespeare In Love have great extras and yet Star Trek fans are ignored.Paramount needs to wake up.

Summary: Did the IQ of the writer drop 140 points?
Review: Sigh.. Star Trek TNG has had several very intelligent shows about time travel. And then comes this. The crew seems to go out of its way to tell the Past people about the future. "blah blah This is where a huge statue of you will be blah" -Geordi to Cochrane. This movie was just annoying in its casual disregard for logic. The Enterprise sees Earth covered with Borg. Then they prevent it. Umm como se dice parodox? Anyway Im not as geeky as this post may seem but I dont like to be insulted by stupid plots that havent been thought out. Stay Away.
